This probably doesn't qualify for a pitch the bitch, but is another example of a casino rip-off. I received an email from SCI-FI, telling me that they had tons of new games & would give me a matching bonus for "coming back", up to $250. No mention of requirements, so I checked the site. It mentioned 12X or 15X wager requirements- according to the bonus. I played through- spent some extra beyond the requirements & cashed out a little less than $100 profit- or so I thought. After a couple days, the amount was sent back to my account & the old- wagering not fulfilled email came to me. Couldn't believe it- I had exceeded requirements by 100's of dollars! Called support and was told that I needed to wager 12X on SLOTS. I stated that I had played video poker & video poker was not listed as not counting toward requirements- besides, I couldn't find ANYTHING that said I had to play SLOTS. He informed me it was under the special limitations tab. I checked that out-nothing. Contacted him back. He said, "Oh, it's under the new player bonus info" I said "I'm not a new player. I'm a returning player and it said nothing about playing slots". He stated that the info under new players applies to this bonus, too. I checked and sure enough, in there last statement it says-play whatever game you wish, but you must wager 12X deposit and bonus on SLOTS. When I said most casinos consider video poker a type of slot, he said, "NO, it is a card game" A CARD GAME!!

I sent a complaint to the rep who sent me the email. Two days later, I received a reply from the casino manager, stating that I was being unreasonable and that they would work with someone if they would be reasonable. She also stated that ALL their info has the wagering requirements, including emails. I sent here a copy of my email & asked her to point out WHERE in the email the wagering requirement is stated (it isn't). Since then, I never received anymore correspondence. Apparently, to SCI-FI reasonable means: We hide wagering requirements, you lose your stake, we win! Complainers are not tolerated. KEEP AWAY FROM THESE BUNCH OF ALIENS-THE ONLY THING OUTTA SITE WILL BE YOUR MONEY!

Misleading promotions and giving players the run-around when they complain about it seems to the the rule rather than the exception with RTG casinos.
Sci Fi Casino is a RTG casino.

look jerk, u didnt read the terms, most all bonus have a play thru and exclude some games, u should have ask, like most player do before u play.

my name is damian dunlap, i am tired of people , blaming things on the casino for no reason, then getting mad and running cause they made a mistake.

i work for no one but my self , i have no agenda , but the truth, go read the terms, next time

Bethug, I'm sure you'll find no one here beating down the doors to play at the Sci Fi casino or any other Real-Time Gaming casino for that matter.

I have learned from personal experience that Real Time Gaming operations harbor only liars, thieves and cheats. So by all means play there.
Have a good one.

I wonder if love2vegas actually received this offer from a scumbag spammer affiliate. They tend to do such cute little tricks like remove the fine print before they send out their garbage. Why they do that I have no idea, but its happened to me more than once and wouldn't be surprised if that was the case here. Especially since they said the terms were in the email and bethug's email shows those terms.

You'd have to go back and really examine the email headers and all the links, etc hidden in the email to be certain, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit. If this is the case, I would scream like h*ll at the casino and demand that they not only pay you but remove the idiot spammer from the affiliate program and confiscate their commissions.

Didn't Sci-Fi used to be a microgaming casino??

i have had no problem with a few rtg casinos, matter fact i had no problem with no casinos.

first u need to contact the support to double check about the terms , call or email or like chat

but in each email, i got form sci-fi and breakaway casino , tells u only can play slots

if sci fi can pay me over 1000 bucks , why would they hold his money. the reason is he didnt read the terms

let be fair , that all i am saying , before u play talk to the support to double check. and record everything

Love2vegas, if you'd like, you may forward the email to me. Like jpm said, this could be from an affiliate who removed some crucial T&Cs. But then many of the RTG casinos set up a separate page for the affiliate to link to which covers any specifics.

Bethug is an experienced gambler who seems to know what he is doing (most of the time). He can offer some good advice when it comes to covering your butt. I believe this is from his experience watching out for the man in da' hood. The LAPD can be merciless.

Peace
out

Guys, like the Meister says, bethug knows what he is talking about.

I have been following his posts for some time now, and he pays attention to detail and he knows what he is talking about. He has a lot to contribute.

I don't know what's with the name calling here all of a sudden. :eek2:

I'll try to respond to these things- one at a time:

1.) Thank-you casinomeister for your offer. I will forward you a copy of the email I received. It may be spam- but it looked like it had come from the casino. I'll send you the tricky email, but I really am not asking for anything from the site- they tricked, I treated, my mistake.

2.) Although probably not AS experienced as Bethug, I have played at many both online and land casinos. I have had my share of ripoffs, sneaky promos, and slow payments. I have also had some great experience with honest sites.I, too, have won $1000 & more at more than one casino. I have also stopped playing at more than one of these casinos because their payouts are so slow- sometimes WEEKS!
3.) I did read the terms and promotions. I don't enjoy playing general slots but do play tons of video poker. I find other slots to be a rip-off and often boring, and had I EVER realized that the ONLY way to cash out any money at SCI FI is to play their narrow definition of slots- I would have trashed the email invite like I have many others. Obviously, BETHUG plays slots & cashes out- great for you.
4.) Probably part of the confusion comes from the fact that SCI FI has changed their terms. I played there before and they included video poker in the term requirement. In addition, some places do consider video poker to be part of the slot family. So with these two items, even seeing the general term "slot play" I would not have thought this didn't include video poker. But as I stated and proved, my mailing said nothing about any SLOT PLAY requirements. And- if you click on the "returning player" bonuses- it lists bonuses from 5-11% with slot requirements. None of which applied to my bonus. As I said, apparently the casino considered me a NEW PLAYER, even though I have played there before.
4.) My MAJOR POINTS to #3 above are this: IF this casino wants to avoid confusion, they could list ALL GAMES which don't qualify for the bonus (as they did under the old terms & most casinos do) OR make it clear UPFRONT that the ONLY games which qualify for wagering requirements are those games which THEY PUT UNDER THE SLOT TAB{AND-THE BIGGEST POINT IS THAT IF SOMEONE LIKE ME WHO IS OVERALL CAREFUL ABOUT PROMO BONUSES CAN GET FOOLED THEN IMAGINE SOMEONE WHO HAS NEVER PLAYED ONLINE BEFORE!}
5.) Now- about attitude and some of your statements BETHUG. You obviously do all the steps to cover yourself- this is good practice. But, should it be needed? Why do casinos offer bonuses- if they don't want people winning? The answer is obvious.

You also seem to play a lot of traditional slots. Well, this would mean that probably 95% of the casinos you play would never have a problem- since almost all allow and encourage players to use slots as a requirement, since the paybacks percents are smaller. I'd bet you'd be the FIRST one to bitch if tomorrow, SCI FI or some other casino changed the rules and sent you an email, you played through your requirements and THEN you found out that they decided only certain slots met requirements. (Oh, yeah, I forgot- you'd know because you'd call the support person first- "I should have ask" "like most player do" )

6.) So, yes, I'll admit I got scammed. I have never asked the casino or this site to try to get the money back. AND, BETHUG, I don't care if your name is Damian, Shaq, or Steve Wynn. Your response, KNOWING that your email was the same as mine (which I proved it wasn't) and your WRONG,WRONG,WRONG attitude- just because you have won there and never got scre*ed
yet, is something that is most sickening.
Perhaps you love to spend your time trying to figure out all the tricks- I don't. And yes, I prefer to win, not lose. But when I have won, I like to get paid. And yes, when a support person makes a stupid comment like "video poker is considered a card game" or they tell me to look in the wrong place for information that isn't listed- it doesn't give me a whole bunch of confidence there, either. You're attitude was much the same a the "casino support" person- don't try to deal with the facts-just your narrow perception of what you'd like it to be.

7.) Finally, seems that I am not the only one who has had problems with SCI FI & other RTG gaming sites. If they are so honest, why not try to work things out with a player who was fooled by their email? I wish someone had posted the information I did, prior to me losing there- I would have run BEFORE I even gave them a dime. Also found out (after spending the dough)they are BLACKLISTED at another site-Online Blackjack Guide. So, good luck to you. Hope you win lots of their money and enjoy them. I won't spend another cent there and if I expose a few people to their tricks- then THEY will lose much more than the $75 investment I lost or the $160 that I had cashed in- but then lost to those lovely, fair slots.

FYI, I would NEVER assume that Video Poker is a slot game for wagering or any other purpose. That is a sure way of getting into trouble with a casino. It is clearly a card game and skill based, as opposed to slots which are 'random' and luck based and that's usually why a stingy casino will exclude it from bonus wagering. A good vp player will typically do better than a slot player overall.

If you want to be sure, ALWAYS ask if they consider VP a slot game and get it in writing.

love2vegas, u right they did change the terms, like over 45 days ago. i can show emails , i got from both breakaways and sci fi in the last few month and u can only play thru on slots. It been like that for a while.

also, for real brother , double check with support before u play. and copy paste everything.

I am going to tell u how i know about the slot play thru , they email me 35% bonus up to 350 bucks. i said wow , that look good , so i contact live support and ask what games can i play , even thru i read only slots , and the support told me the same thing . Since i dont play slots and i know that a fix game , i decided not to drop 1000 bucks.

Heck, I can see how anybody can consider video poker a slot machine. It's in the software as a slot machine. It's on casino floors as a slot machine. It's regulated as a slot machine.

I can also believe the Sci Fi or an affiliate sends out offers without all the fine print.

Bethug is right about calling and checking, but he has that knowledge from experience. I think Love2 has every right to be angry.

Which software is it in as a slot machine? MG, RTG, Playtech all have it under its own VP category.

But like I said, its a skill based game and most slots are luck/random so IMO they don't belong in the same category.

I agree that Love2 should be mad, but I'd bet that email came from some unscrupulous affiliate who screwed with it before sending it out.

Why would an affiliate screw with it? That makes no sense!

Firstly, screwing with HTML is a pain in the you know where. You start changing it you start having problems with it.

Secondly, what is there to be gained?
The chance that someone who reads it will reject the casino because of wagering requirements is minute.

I don't know why they would, but I've seen it in my own email many many times. It isn't too hard to just delete sections of HTML, like a link to a T&C, if you have any kind of editor (even wordpad). But I have yet to figure out why they do it, I just know that they do.

I would get an email offer from a casino I belong to and then 1 or 2 more from some spammer(s). Many times, there would be little parts missing mainly from the fine print, but affiliate ID's added to the various links in the email. Pissed me off every time and I would immediately forward it to the casino with the affiliate ID prominently displayed in my note demanding that they bounce them from the affiliate program for spamming. Most of them said they would/did, some don't seem to care. For those that don't care, I remove them from my computer and won't play there anymore.

I am hoping Sci-Fi will eventually be redeemed from the Casinomeister rogue listing. My experiences with them have been extremely positive, to say the least. And I think everyone here knows by now I'm not a shill.

I will admit, they have acted as a rogue in the past, but have cleaned up thier act, and over exceptionally friendly customer service.

Don't want to beat this dead horse to death, but a couple of quick points: Thanks Mary for mentioning the usual thought that VP is a slot. For example, check any land-based info, and they will mention they have XXXXX number of slots, which includes video poker machines. Ask a casino personnel person where the slot machines are and they will point you to video poker and other slot machines. Ask where the card room is- I doubt you will ever be lead over to the video poker machines! The lesson: I guess you do need to ask and clarify. But again, I don't want the point missed: the casino could easily clarify so there was NO QUESTION.

AS for jpm's theory of spamming- like I said, it may be. I have sent a copy to casinomeister, maybe he can tell more. What I do know is this- after I sent an exact copy to Fern Scott, the casino manager, asking her where the promotional terms are stated, she never wrote back. Seems that if it was a spammer, she would have or should have??

SHILL! :xxx

Just teasing, Dave - not very often I get to turn the tables on you :)

But seriously, what is your opinion on letting Golden Palace back onto the good side? After all, they have not had any problems in a long time, and they have been paying on time, so far as I know.

Sci Fi still have'nt squared the craps crap from a while back so all this talk of the non rogueing of this firm are nonsense.

Golden Palace? Forgiven?

I recall Mary's analogy of the diamond dealer who has been previously found guilty of stealing diamonds.

Anyone who lets a convicted diamond thief carry thier diamonds across the world because the thief has been behaving for a while is mad.

Gamble at Golden Palace?

If you like that kind of thing. Russian roulette has it's downside tho.

love2vegas wrote: I don't want the point missed: the casino could easily clarify so there was NO QUESTION.

You're 100% right there, they could and SHOULD clarify these things so there is no question. It should be right there in the email offering the bonus. There is absolutely no good reason for a casino not to do so, only bad reasons. I'm happy to see that more and more casinos these days are including this info in their email offers (miami paradise, casino king, casino las vegas are a few that come to mind right away).

I was wondering if someone could tell me if the Online Casino Gaming Council has A new email address I can't seem to get through to the old one?
