RTG Software problems

Hi I was just wondering if anyone may know the reason the RTG software refuses to work for me for any casino that uses it (well that I've tried). It downloads and installs fine but as soon as I log in and try to download a game or access the cashier I get an error saying something like "The download server is down. Please try again in a few minutes".

I tried support once on a casino I can't remember the name of and they told me to disable and re-enable my network adapter but that didn't fix the problem. I use a laptop and Windows 7 if that makes any difference. I've tried disabling my firewall still no difference either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How many casinos did you try and over what period of time?
RTG are known to have global "time-outs" occasionally, when ALL their casinos are unaccessible - just wondering if you got unlucky with one of those.

Try running them in Compatibility Mode (xp sp2) ;).

I tried your suggestion first with xp sp2 and it didn't work so I tried others like sp1 and windows 2000 still no luck :( My laptop seems to hate this software.

probably about 5? over different periods of time. The thing is it is only my laptop that can't access the download server, if I try and use someone else's laptop that I live with it works but that doesn't help me much because I can't really use their laptop just to play one of these casinos. Oh well.

Is it anything to do with your firewall blocking the downloader? Perhaps your browser security is set too high?

No RTG Slots Game Will Download

My problem is slightly different. No problem downloading RTG cssinos. No problem playing Video Poker or Table Games. But out of a dozen RTG casinos I have Never been able to completely download any slot game. When asking casino support, the answer is 'We're having no problem at our end." I.e., clueless even when they're given the code # for the failure dialogue: "Unable to open file." I have made more than 15 alterations to control panel security; erased cookies; erased browsing history; changed to Chrome browser from IE8; of course turned off firewall and antivirus. Also have tried the 'turn off pc and restart' tactic after downloading each casino. Nothing has helped to open a casino slots game. 'Course I can play non-download casino slots fine, but... Before Microgaming dropped US players, I had no problem playing every game on these casinos. I am using a Dell Latitude laptop with XP PRO SP3. Have updated Flash, Shockwave, Java, DirectX to latest versions. I am using an Alltel Huawei Air Card modem which works for every other type of download fine. Thus, the question is what is it that blocks the slots downloads, which have gone as far as 95% before I get "DOWNLOAD FAILED." Is it that there are 'hidden' blocks going on from either XP or my antivirus that continue working even when they're disabled? Any tips greatly appreciated--and I am far from the only one experiencing this!

Start up your PC in safemode with network and try again.
If this works then it is firewall/anti-virus blocked downloading.

It is funny some binary within RTG package, is triggering various anti-virus software/firewalls.

cheers

This could also possibly be fault of your firewall or router. It might not be computer related but your router is causing these problems.

I have had both these problems from time to time and each time it was the speed of my internet service provider. I live in a rural area and when I was using an internet card, Verizon, or Hughes Net satellite service, I had the devil with RTG casinos. So you might check that out.

I have internet thru my local phone service and have no problem at all.

Thanks for good tips. My networking isnt recognized in safe--guess because USB drivers aren't loading for my aircard modem. I think it's signal strength for the modem -- I get 4 bars but my little ole laptop doesn't seem to be fast enough to get the slots games.

Thank you, kavaman! I agree it's router-related, but I don't use a router, just a plain ole aircard hung on the wall. Wondering if an antenna would get me substantially stronger signal than the 4 bars I get now. But I'm convinced now it's signal-related and will be working on that.

SOLVED - Now Can Play RTG Slots

Yes, I too am rural, using Alltel Huawei EC228 aircard, and usually get 4 bars, but seems to not be enough pep for downloading the slots games, just everything else RTG. My newly-invented workaround to get the slots games working is primitive, but it's real satisfying to finally be able to play them. Here's what I did:

I have a friend with a desktop pc chock-full of RTG casinos. From the friend's C://Program Files folder, I went into the casino directory I wanted first and copied out 100% 4 folders onto a flash drive (a CD would work just as well). The folders I thought most relevant were PATCH; INSTALLED; RSC; and SOUNDS (no other files). I then went back to my laptop and made a new folder inside that casino's folder in Program Files I called "OLD", then I moved these 4 folders (the non-working ones) into my new "OLD" folder. Only after that did I open the flash drive directory and copied/pasted the 4 new folders directly into the c://Program Files/(casino) directory on my laptop.

I next restarted the laptop and opened this particular RTG casino, went to "Slots" games, and VOILA, they now work! This method seems to work for just 1 particular casino at a time, but in my case it's well worth it. The online casino didn't seem to notice that any changes had been made.

Thanks again for the informative tip--strengthening the incoming signal seems to be the ultimate answer.
