Roulette ball/wheel memory!??

I've always wondered about this - how can mathematical probability theory apply to roulette when the ball and wheel have no "memory". Probability works with cards ( Blackjack etc.) but how can it apply to roulette? However it must apply to some extent because it seems to be common sense to bet on the opposite colour or set of numbers when a long run of the same colour or number group has hit !?? Any thoughts ?

Of course it applies to Roulette, or any other game of chance for that matter. What you question is the subject of "independence" between events. In most games there is independence between events such as roulette spins or slot spins. However there are instances of dependence of events such as poker, slots with "respins" like the new Microgaming slot Wild Orient or Blackjack if the cards are not shuffled between rounds (such as live-BJ).

Maths apply to whatever you like as long as your hypothesis reasonably reflect reality.

One likes to believe gambling involves randomness, luck.

Noone wants to take gazillion $$$ business out of tax havens and comedy regulatory authorities' hand, would you ?

As for live table games, especially Roulette, the same comedy authorities in charge of reviewing "fairness". Because of the nature of the game (a spin/roll every 1 to 60 seconds), you'll never be able to gather statistical evidence of the games being rigged.

I only play BJ, but as far as I can tell, online replicates my experience at B&Ms almost hand for hand. Horrible losing streaks and insane winning tears.

After years of playing at both, I've tossed all systems or strategies such as laddering your bets, counting cards etc. etc.

The ONLY way I win is what I call "guerilla warfare" betting:

1$/1$/2$/1$/5$/1$..WHAM 150$ , 1$/2$/1$/20$/1$...WHAM! 75$ ....well, you get the idea. Add to that playing against the book at times.

Just like everything else, sometimes it works, sometimes not.

I've gotta say though, RTG casinos are quick to say that they have no control over the games. Bullshit. RealTime Gaming advertises it! "The Most Profitable Online Casino Solution!!" Recently, I was on a tear and the casino whacked my table limits from 1-250 down to 1-50. WTF is that, if not "control" over games?

I'm well aware of the risks involved in any type of gambling without smoke being blown up my ass so I don't ask any questions
