Thank you for taking the time to contact my office with your concerns regarding internet gambling. I agree with you that whether or not a person participates in online gambling is none of the federal government's business. This is why I am the lead Republican cosponsor of HR 2046, which allows Americans to engage in internet gambling.

Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns on this important issue with me.

Sincerely,

Ron Paul

THIS GOES TO SHOW SOMEONE IS READING OUR EMAILS. SO I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO EMAIL THE LEGISLATORS!

Thanks for posting that....and for taking the trouble to do something constructive about giving your views to your political representative.

Both Barney Frank and Shelley Berkely have stressed that pressure from the voters on their political representatives is very important in addressing the online gambling situation in the USA.

Contact details for politicians can be found on several sites, including here at Casinomeister.

I'm working my freak in Washington; done with the others, don't even get the 'kiss my ass' form letters anymore. Find a reason and a niche and hammer it home. If your rep is dem, have her support barney on party lines if you have to, and make it known you vote and have friends, If your reps are pubs, appeal to the 'personal responsibility' aspect if you have to; but drive it home or.... (fill it in Pinababy :))

I got this email today about the legislation from Poker Players Alliance:

Dear Fellow PPA Member:

I have wonderful news to report! On Thursday, April 26, Rep. Barney Frank introduced HR 2046, the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act of 2007. HR 2046 will lift the prohibition on playing poker online. Your efforts are making a difference!

Representative Frank is the Chairman of the important House Financial Services Committee. And he understands the injustice that we have suffered. When he introduced the bill, he told reporters that The existing legislation is an inappropriate interference on the personal freedom of Americans and this interference should be undone.

But he cant do this job alone. Now, we need to help Congressman Frank build support for his bill.

You can regain your right to enjoy safe, secure online poker but only if you stand up for your rights. And PPA is here to help you do just that.

This is a landmark day for freedom. But it is only the first step of the process. Join me in celebrating this milestone and take action to build support for HR 2046.

STFU!! Ha ha.....

I gotta work on my image.

Honestly Foot, that's great. I wish every single person here would write to their reps.

I would post my reply from my representative, but unfortunately he (John Peterson) keeps ignoring my e-mails on the internet gambling issue. I did vote for his opponent last November, so at least he got that message.

I think it's time for me to do an end run and contact people like Ron Paul who actually reply.

Even though I am always very nice, brief, and to the point.... I get the feeling that I've emailed so many, so many times, that my name is on some sort of 'watch out for this crazy old bat' list. ;) So far, almost all I get is generic, stock, 'online gambling=bad, gambling ban=good' form emails -- especially from Bible Belt politicians (hypocrites!). Frank sent a 'thank you for your support' type form email.
