A friend of mine has been trying to get paid from club world for some time. He has sent them a scan of his license and bank statement. When he asked why his cashout has not been processed they turned around and said this

Hi Chris,

We are still waiting for a copy of your bank statement and id that are notarized by a lawyer so we have the required proof.

Once you have sent that it we will process your withdrawal.

When he asked about this, why he would need these documents notarized they replied with this, or if there was any other way he could have his identidy confirmed they replied:

Hi Chris,

You just need to go to a lawyer and ask him to look at your identification (I presume photo id and anything else with your name and photo on would be fine) and make sure it matches up with your bank statement address.
He should then stamp it with his seal and hand it back to you, or he can write a short note confirming that you are who you are and you live where you live.

Make a copy of the statement with the seal and any other document he gives you and send it to me. I will need the name and contact details of the lawyer to confirm this.

We need 100% proof of your identity otherwise your initial deposit will be returned and any winnings will be voided.

I am sorry about this but it is the Casino's rules when we require additional verification.

Regards

Michael

This seems absolutely rediculous ive never heard of any casino asking for documents notarized by a lawyer. It seems absurd that my friend should have to pay a lawyer and run through hoops to get his cashout processed.

edit: sorry if this should have been posted under one of the complaint threads

Hmmm sounds like there may be more to this story. Sorry if that's an incorrect assumption but I never had to have anything notarized with CWC.

There was a thread a few month's back about a well known casino group asking a bunch of players for the same thing, they got alot of stick from here but it turned out that there was indeed fraud being committed.
I am not saying your friend is guilty of anything, but i would say that for a decent casino to ask for this, that they at least suspect fraud.

WAYLANDER

Yes I'd agree. No casino would ask for a notary unless there was suspicion raised.

So it seems that he may have no choice but to go ahead and get his docs notarized? I missed the other post about this happening and thought this was a new and unique situation.
Knowign nothing baout notarization is this the sort of thing you are charged a few hundred dollars for? Also is this the same seal that any bank you are a member of will give you for free.

If they specifically asked for a lawyer to notorize it, you may want to ask if a bank notorization would work. If not, I'm sure you're going to end up paying the lawyer for his time.

I'd PAB with Bryan first, maybe he can intervene and get to the bottom of the reason as to why they want notorized documents.....I've never heard of such a request.

Only a notary public can notarize documents. In the US, you can often find one in banks or even in supermarkets, who should be able to do the job for $10 or $20.

I would recommend that this friend have his/her docs notarized. If you're in the states, it's a no-brainer. It costs about $20 at Kinko's. And if it turns out to be legit, I'm sure the casino would take compensation for the hassle into consideration.

Please bear in mind, casinos only do this if something isn't jiving with ID documents. Casinos are always on the lookout for fraudulent players and can detect them pretty easily. Not saying your friend is a fraudster, but he/she may have tripped a couple of flares. You should have this person join the forum :D

If you have a decent bank, they will do it for free :D

I did it for free for the papper trail for income was awful for a Notary :D and I know a lot of Notary's that will not charge just for this reason. Real estate offices have them for that is where I work and we have 2 and neither one of us charge.

Please can a mod amend the spelling to ridiculous.

It's doing my head in...
It was killing me too :D

Anyway - Sneakattack, what has your friend decided to do? Why doesn't this person join the forum and have a direct dialogue with the casino manager - don't forget they're members here and can be most helpful.

Whoever corrected the spelling -- thank you!! It was driving me nuts!

:eek2:
