The only difference is that when they vote yay or nay on a post, they affect the poster's reputation either a little or a lot. People who are more active in the board tend to gain more by their participation - gaining via positive comments or by merely existing. As of now, most everyone has a modest rep. There are only about 14 users with reps over 50. This should change once more people get into it. Does that answer your question?
