Quitting gambling

I was going to post in the morning, but god knows why I was half expecting you to come back. Now it seem you really quit, at least for now, please know you will be missed around here. And if you ever decide to come back, most of us will be here waiting for you ;)

Best of luck Jenny, and please pop in once in a while to let us know how the non-gambling life is treating you

Hiya :)

Sorry for making a thread about this im sure most of you could care less but its a way for me to close a chapter and start fresh

I just want to say thanks for all the friendly people I have met in my time here. Even to the ones I butted heads with.

I dont want to go into a huge spiel or throw mud.

The reason for me quitting is what I allowed happen. I played a slot that I think everyone should stay away from. And last night something happened with it that just took all the air out of me.

I feel like the last 4 weeks of my gaming with all the new slots was a huge mistake. I spoke about them on the forum as jackpot slots and how they have changed. It turned into a test to just see if they were really that bad. Into a chase that I couldnt believe I had 475 out of 500 bonuses pay under 20x or something along those lines.

And finally, I feel casino's are taking us for granted. Long gone are they days where loyalty matters.

Im a firm believer, if you are going cry about things and dont like them, you should do something about it. For me, I have closed every single gaming account aside from 2. 2 of them I have left open but am on a TAB in case i change my mind later on down the road.

I feel like my posts have become way too negative and poisonous and its not good for the forum or people reading it.

I have contacted my work and have increased my hours back to full time as it will help me transition away from slots that I have been so used to playing.

So with that being said, I wont be here on the forum any longer either. Maybe it will be for good or maybe it will be a break when I relax for a month or two and get away from it all and relax..

Maybe see you guys around sometime again

Take care :)

Good to see you make a firm decision lockinlove..
And I fully feel where you are coming from..
After my mini break I had a surprisingly good week at some casino's but after that it all turned bad again..

Online slotting is defo not as good as it was at some stage..
They seem more volatile than ever and 500-1000 spin intervals between bonusses is the norm, to get then a "whopping" 10x stake return..

I hope you find something else to keep you occupied..

Dunno how the landbased casino's are in your area, maybe play there and bring 100 dollars or something and when busted just go home..
So you can still play a bit every month without being murdered by monstrous slots like Bonanza and Vikings go Beserk..

Will be missing your posts tho..

Wish you all the best!!!!!

Mark.

Gutted - she was a interesting poster and shared the good and the bad with her wins, fair play to her.

The main thing that I will take from her recent posts though is how absolutely god awful the new range of slots are. People will argue the contrary but I truly truly believe that the latest output from Netent and MG as well as the others are purposely tailored towards low/mid variance output

This means that the days of being a few K day and then hitting that big win to get up straight again are over, or they arn't, but they are much, much less common. And I believe that this is a purposeful move from the online casino industry to lower cashouts generally across the board for the Casinos which equates to a better bottom line for them.

This slot comes close to"illegal" territory if you ask me.
It is designed to make people tilt it seems.
A very very very dangerous slot, and whoever programmed this should be proud (not).

I played it only a few times, Thank God.
Got bored quickly because of the insanely annoying cowboyish dreadful music and the sheer impossible task to trigger a bonus.
GOL GOL GOL all the time, yeah right.

suppose i'll have to take up the best looking member now.

best of luck lockinlove, you seem a smart person, and even smarter from getting away from this filth. good luck in life.

Yep, sorry to see you go, Lockinlove. But kudos to you for knowing when to give it a break. There are many who lack this ability. Good luck and best wishes, happy trails, and you are welcome to come back when things are going better for you.

It's hard to give up any addiction or intense interest , cold turkey. I tried.. but I am happy with my compromise. Big cutback in spend and multiple days off. I have cemented that deal in my head. Maybe if you come back , really commit to something like that I think.

Hi it was (is) a brave and right choice in my opinion. I noticed your last posts were angry and frustrated (not having a go at you at all ) but when the fun stops ... its time to stop so they say.

And knowing when enough is enough is really important so I totally respect your choice! I took a long break from gambling (around 2 years ) I did come back but with extreme measures in place to curtail my habit and this has worked for me. Who knows if it would or should work for you in the future but right now I suppose its about getting the head clear and mind straight. Never always agreed with all your posts, but respected them and you are certainly respected by probably everyone here. Wish you the best for the future as I know many others will!

Its a great feeling being bet free when it gets too much :D:thumbsup:

All the best. Loved the straight talking no bullshit posts.
You will be sadly missed.
All the very best in the future and what you decide upon.

It's always a sad day when a great contributor to this even greater forum decides to call it quits. :(

It's a great shame that you have reached this point LIL. Because it wasn't all that long ago that you started a thread where you stated that you were genuinely thinking about calling it a day, despite being a consistent winner on the slots and being on a winning streak at the time. And this was at a time long before Bonanza became the nemesis that finally broke your gambling spirit. If only you had trusted your normally excellent instincts, maybe you'd have taken the short break back then under a white cloud instead of leaving abruptly (and possibly for good) under a dark cloud now.

If there is anything good to come out of this, it is that you have quickly realised that slots had stopped being fun and you didn't waste time taking decisive action. A case of better late than never. Someone less smart than you may have gotten too stubborn for their own good, continued to chase the dream (and the losses) and end up doing possibly irreparable damage. You also took ownership of the blame when you said you allowed it to happen, when it could have been so much easier to act the sore loser, screaming blue murder and "it's rigged I tell ya!" and basically passing the blame onto the casinos/BTG/whoever for the horrific run that brought you to this decision to quit. Your final post could have so easily been a parting shot and a rant, but it wasn't. It was objective, well thought out and you made some excellent points and observations. Fair play to you for that.

Part of me hopes that one day, you will return. But there's another part of me that hopes that you don't (and I mean that respectfully). Regardless of whatever happens in the future, you made a great contribution to this forum and there are plenty here who thank you greatly for it. You will be missed.

I wish you the best of luck, and most importantly, good health and happiness. Take care LIL. :):notworthy
