Hi all, just had to cancel my debit card (natwest) due to me losing it last night and I just realised I have £2500 coming into my account from a casino, obviously now that my details are changed will it affect the payment? I assume that the banks receiving any payment or accounts with my numbers will still be linked to my actual bank account and not debit card number but im clueless, something I should have asked on the phone haha.

Muchos Thanks

Well done on your win , You maybe best to contact the casino who you have the win with to explain that , As the debit card number linked to your casino account .When NatWest send you another card it will have a different card number on it I would have thought .The old card will become invalid as its been cancelled . Of course if you have link your bank account number and sort code then you should not have a problem .You be better asking the casino in question to make sure .

The money will still arrive, it may take a day longer though.

I did this a few months ago, cancelled my UK bank account card as I lost it, then freaked out as I realised I had a hefty amount coming back to it.

Bank told me not to worry, it will still come, and it did :)

Cheers guys, I spoke to the casino who said the same thing as you, then I spoke to the bank and got an Indian who really struggled to fathom what I was telling him so I just had to hang up, I had a pending withdrawal which I have now stupidly reversed but I will try to keep that in my account without getting itchy fingers. I do have a netteller account I setup recently and have never used it, netteller goes through as a bank transfer though so that will be fine, right ? :p

Most casino will only pay the win the way you deposited, If you deposited via debit card then they pay you that way sorry to say .Cards come quick now days anyway in the post . The above said he got his ok when it happened to him so you should get it ok

The money goes into a suspense account at your bank if the card is cancelled and then its looked at at the end of the day (by a humand being0 and matched up with the old card holder. Nothing to worry about.

Should have nothing to worry about tho but it isn't always so plain sailing.

I know a couple of cases where withdrawals have been sent to an expired or cancelled debit card and never reached the account. One of the cases was my sister and William hill sent it to her expired card. Bank said it would still reach her account. It never and should have been floating around the system somewhere but bank could not trace it and William hill never got it returned. Took about a month to sort it in the end.

Been in the same boat with barclys, I gave them a ring and said it still go to my account, Just give it a day or two to make sure its had time to reach bank, I received a call that money has tried going into account & if if the transaction was good,

The account does not shut of them numbers, I was told they hold on to them for about 6 months, Just may take a bit of extra time, This ws some time back still

In general, Card numbers change but the account number remains the same. You should receive the funds as that account can not be allocated to someone else.

Nate

I've lost many cards over the years, usually withdrawals are processed fine, once it didn't show up in my account and was sent back to the casino, took a while to sort out but I wouldn't worry.
