to a list of the casino jargon I keep hearing about, but have NO idea what it means?:D

High variance, low variance - bonus banned - hot temperature, cold temperature, warm... etc etc etc.. hehehe

Thanking you in advance :D

Not really...

The temp questions refer to the MG slot games (they have a temp to tell you whether a game is 'supposedly' hot)

Variance someone else can explain!

Bonus banned- when a casino or group of casinos doesn't allow you to participate in any form of bonuses whatsoever (Rival are good for this sort of thing.)

If you have questions, your best bet is just to ask. I once had a professor who used to say..."The only stupid question is the unasked question."

I've noticed on the side of some casinos the Temperature gage, and I never knew what it was for. I presumed it meant that it was nearing the time a Jackpot was going to go off or something. So it just means, if its hot. Lots of people are winning on it? Interesting:)

That was actually. Thank you :D Especially the link to the variance modes. Interesting stuff:thumbsup:

In a nutshell. If you want to win but arent too fussy on size and your bankroll is low. Low variance is the way to go. Smaller payouts but more often.

If you'll looking for a big payout and have the bank roll to run with it, High Variance is the way to go. Bigger wins but few and far between...

Slots Variance:
You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.

Bonus Banned: A specific casino/software (rival mostly) no longer gives bonus to you due to various reasons.
Hot: slots is paying out
Cold: slots is sucking in

Hope it is helpful

Cheers

The temperature guage is a guide to the last time a jackpot was hit nothing more. It doesnt meant the slot is hot or cold it simply means the higher the number the longer its been since the jackpot was hit. It could go on for months like that yet or it could be hit tmrow, there is no way of knowing or telling. Best advice, simply play the slots you enjoy and let fate decide :)

I thought as much. It 'is' kind of a gauge as to when the next jackpot is going off, well nearing it;)

Another word, Im running across in the forums:

RTP

Does that mean Return To Player? And what exactly is returned to player?

Yes it does mean that.
Say a slot machine is set to 95% RTP - that means you should get 95% of all your wagers back in winnings.
e.g. For every $100 worth of bets you place, you will win back $95.

Thanks for starting this thread - I've decided to add a page to my website with a list of all these "strange" expressions & abbreviations!

Will do. It might be a few days before I get the page up - and I'm bound to have to keep adding to it - but it should turn out to be a useful resource for newbies!

Cheers,

It's a generous offer.

You could just post the list here and maybe ask max to make it sticky if you want to help the newbs out. I'm sure Bryan won't mind.

Would save members having to go to a different site for the information.

I forgot completely about a "work in progress" page I have here:
https://www.casinomeister.com/babelmeister-gambling-glossary/

It's a glossary that includes a lot of poker lingo, but forum lingo as well. It's called "Babelmeister" :p

I know it's not complete, but if some of you would add terms that should be defined, or request terms to be defined, please post them in this thread and I'll add them as time permits. :D

Please feel free to add your own definitions.

Great list!

Would it be possible to put in all the shortenings you use here?
For us that don't know so much english those are also difficult to understand.
Ex: AFYIK I have no clue about that one:o

You mean acronyms - not a problem.
