I think your the one being absurd with your take on this. Most of us on this forum too well know how difficult it can be with issues with gambling. I don't necessarily agree that he should get his deposits straight back - Bet365 which is one of the largest bookmakers in the world should be doing way more to ensure this doesn't happen.
Its ridiculous that he can be ID verified even though he is theoretically banned. Why are you so petty about the poster and not enraged that the bookmaker which is breaching the rules. If anything its companies like bet365 who are showing little disregard for the rules and exploiting those it should be helping. The ID verification process should easily prevent customers from gambling on the site.
Its fucken astonishing that on this forum no one is actually taking to task bet365. I think its fucken putrid that you can be ID verified and still play while banned because a couple of details are different. The ID would be exactly the same.
I think you are missing the point as well.
Most problem gamblers are doing this on purpose and they are using these loopholes to be able to still gamble. Bet365 is not the main cause or issue here. IF Bet365 systems is not blocking new account creations based only on 2 bits of criteria IE your name and DOB then that is not really Bet365's fault. We are also not defending Bet365 either. (But in hindsight there is many people who will have the same name and DOB) So if someone who is not on gamstop who has the same name and DOB as someone who is on Gamstop then they tried to make an account and instantly got blocked they would be wondering what the heck? No?
So that is probably why they do not block accounts based solely on name and DOB alone.
I am not sure how other casinos do it if they also use the same but still block new accounts with only those 2 details. But that would just tell me that is going to block people who is not even on Gamstop.
I agree the whole system is broken and badly implemented and it must be made more foolproof.
Then we get the chancers coming here or elsewhere and claiming "Gamstop" and trying to get their deposits back!
We know this is a huge problem and we keep getting the same issues crop up with the same type of problem gamblers keep coming here and making these type of threads.
In my opinion they should completely overhaul the entire Gamstop system from the ground up and make sure every casino uses more than 2 details. So be that name/DOB/NI number perhaps.
Just like in the USA they have social security number, what harm would it do to also ask for NI number?
That is actually the best way to block problem gamblers on gamstop with their NI number!
EDIT: I used to be against using NI number - Our late member colinsunderland and me had a debate about this in the past. Which I was against. But times as moved on and if this is the only solution to use NI numbers to completely solve this problem then so be it! - RIP colin
