I signed up with a well known Rival casino over the week-end and made two deposits totalling $240.00. I did not accept any deposit bonuses. After a while I had just over $500.00 and decided to cash out.

Two days later I received an email from their accounts department requesting that I complete the required fax back document and supply proof of address and ID. I complied and emailed all the documents back to them. Today I receive another email from them asking that I send a picture of myself holding my ID.

WTF! Is this "normal" procedure or is it just another delay tactic that online casinos seem so famous for?

It seems to be with some rivals, there have been several people that have been asked for the same thing,

Im probably in the minority but i think that sending a pic of yourself holding your ID does more to proving your identy than just sending in a DL or passport photo ID

Yet AGAIN a Rival casino asks for a picture of someone holding their ID. It is clear now that this is becoming more "routine" than "rare", so it would be in the best interests of Rival casinos to "come clean" about it, so that players asked for this do not instantly assume they are on the way to getting screwed.

This is a simple way to show that the ID has not been "borrowed", or even stolen. It is only an IMAGE, not the actual ID, that the casino sees, so asking for someone to send in a photo of themselves holding the ID from which the image was produced shows they are physically in possession of the ID, AND they are the person to which it belongs.
It is a neat alternative to asking for a notarised copy, with all the hassle and expense of seeing a public notary or solicitor.

Casinos just need to be more open about this, and not pretend this is so "rare", but more "routine" in cases where there is a need for "additional documentation" to clear up a discrepancy.

What would players prefer?

Having to take another photo of themselves holding the document, OR, going into town, paying a public notary or solicitor to verify they are presenting their own ID, and then waiting for the casino to contact the notary/solicitor, who may very well not be available to take the call at the time - thus ensuring an extended delay in verification.

The problem with casinos is that when making these types of request, they make the player feel like a criminal. They need to change the attitude with which these requests are made, so that players will accept it as an option under the normal verification routine, rather than an "investigation".

Often casinos give this impression by using loaded phrases like "risk department" in emails sent to players, which immediately gives the impression they have already been judged, and are now having to prove innocence.

If it DID become routine to send a photo of the player holding the ID document, ID fraud through "borrowing" ID would be a good deal harder, and would only be possible with the full cooperation of the owner of the ID being used (it is STILL fraud if a player uses someone else's ID to play at a casino, even if they have the permission of the owner of the ID - it is misrepresentation, and breaches several terms universal to all operators in the industry).

strange world we live in :) so im wondering what they have done with all the money that the timid ones or those that refused to send live photo;s of them selves
kinda like they should send us pictures of them with there I D BADGES

as a chum said to me ( WHAT THERE JUST INTERNET PEOPLE !!):eek2::eek2:

I agree fully with your post. Why was the request for the photo of me holding my ID not included in the original request for proof of id? It does make you feel like a criminal because they don't even bother to give you an explanation why they need it. I must say I won't be playing at Cocoa Casino again.

If I demanded such a request from my customers without an explanation I wouldn't have any customers left.

John from Rockbet has addressed this kind of request as only happening in cases of suspected fraud.

You can use the PAB which of course I don't mind and will come back to my email. I have replied via PM and have looked at the security emails sent to the player. All I can say is security has their reasons for asking for more verification and it's a rare event. If this was a common occurrence then we would lose a lot of players and CM would be flooded with complaints. This is only done in cases of suspected fraud and/or where security believes the account is being used by someone else.

I won't disclose more information on a forum since this is confidential information but I have no issues addressing any complaints publicly. In 3 years with This is Vegas and Rockbet I'd say this is maybe the 5th time I have seen the security team make this request. If the player cooperates and the documents turn out to be legit there will not be any issues of payment.

John

I had this request made by VegasSky (this was prior to John addressing the issue in https://www.casinomeister.com/forum...ice-regarding-payment-delay-at-rockbet.31824/. I was paid very promptly after providing them with a picture of me holding my ID.

I wish I was asked to send in a picture of me holding my ID when I was playing at Da Vincis a while back.

Instead they had me produce a verified copy of my DL.
Even after being contacted by my VIP host at Moneybookers (where Im fully verified: passport, utility bill, VISA you name it), they wouldn't budge.

It would be interesting to know what set of the alarm at the "risk department", but I guess I'll never know.

Needless to say I'm doing all my Rival play at Sloto these days.

Before making your first deposit someone should send them an email requesting support personel send them a pic of themself holding there ID

Load of Crap

I just signed up with Paradise Poker, deposited with my Moneybookers account and played some poker for a while. I was fortunate enough to have a good run so I withdrew $300 back to my Moneybookers account, the transfer took less than twenty minutes. They did not ask for any documents let alone a picture of me holding my ID with my pants down.

Some of these casinos are just full of it, they need to send their security staff on a basic customer interaction course.

Ive often wondered about the lack of consistancy across the board when it comes to supplying you personal info to casino's,
some you need everything but a DNA test, some nothing at all, i can see how this pisses people off, it pisses me off

i mean if you want to get a driving licence everyone has to supply a standard set of documents
if you want a passport you have to supply a standard set of documents
if you open a bank account you have to supply a standard set of documents
the list could go on and on

But when it comes to online casino's its a free for all, you never know where you stand, or what you will be asked for
how long have online casino's been in operation now 10-20 years, worth however many of billions of $$ per year you would have thought in that time they would have been able to bring in a standardized system, or a way to check someones identy without sending all of your personal information over the internet (i bet the identy thieves love online casino's)

Until it is made illegal to play at an online casino ( like that will ever happen)
before you verify who you are you are going to keep seeing people complaining about what documentation has to be sent in,

book of zebedy chapter 6 verse 3 ,
amen :D

i recently joined lucky red
upon joining i got a phone call where i had to repeat my deposit , my address etc before playing ,which by me is fine and told i would need to send in id before a withdrawl this is fine
after sending my id in , i was emailed straight away cause i was short a utility bill ... and told ... i would not be able to deposit other than moneybookers or withdraw untill i had this final document ...this to me was great , i knew where i stood , everything was up front .... great kudos to them !

when you make 5 deposits play for 3 weeks , go to withdraw and they delay you for 5 days asking for id , this does either ,.... makeyou feel like crap , make you think they are ripping you off , or make you wanna bet triple to win 10 grand and stick it up them , and you end up losing the lot ( their goal )

if ... a casino can let you deposit with a credit card or any method and let u play without checking your id or worrying about fraud ... they should offer you the same service when withdrawing
i would prefer a casino to ask you for everything up front so there is no excuses afterwards .
