Hiya: As mentioned before, Las Vegas a few years ago disscused this in great detail. The sticking point was simple," How do we KNOW, that the person at the keyboard is of legal age to Gamble?" This is Seperate from, "How do we know if the person who opens the account is of legal age to gamble?"

It would be like a 22 year old, and his 20 year old brother walking into a real Casino. The 22 year old buys chips, shows his ID to the Dealer, and sits down to play. 1/2 hour later, the 20 year old brother tries to play. What happens? The delaer ask to see his ID, and he is turned away. If this exact same thing happened on the Internet, they could get away with it, as the ID is only checked at account creation.

Am I typing this, or is my 9 year old son typing it?........
I agree that someday it will happen in America, but not today, and not tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow.....

I don't think the problem is underage players. The key is that minors have great trouble getting paid from internet gaming sites because a copy of the player's driver's license (or passport), credit card and utility bill is usually required. How many minors would get addicted to internet gambling with little hope of ever cashing out?

IMO, Calvin's assessment (and especially the musical chair metaphor) is exactly right.

Hiya: I also agree with the musical chair thingy...:) I disagree with the American Indians being afraid/not wanting to compete with established on line casinos. They think it is the same as trying to compete with Las Vegas an Reno. They do not understand that, "TRUST" is the single most important thing in On Line Gambling, and that a Legal On Line Casino, ran from within the USA, will have some of the same issues as all other Casino's have, but TRUST will not be one of those issues.

And as far as, "Age Verification" goes, I watched the hearing held by Mayor Oscar a few years ago, and there were No objections to it not being a good idea, or imoral, or anything like that. But Age Verification, or the person actually making the bets, kept coming up over n over n over again. It was even suggested to have to use Web Cams to be able to play, and have face recginition sweeps to check on players. Now, who is gonna want to play if you have to do that?

From one thread there are allready 3 different opiions. That is why gambeling is not legal here yet. When we jump over one obsticle another one arrives. There are so many what ifs and who gets that making it legal will be such a long process. To many hands stiring the pot, and everyone not wanting to get burned. Bottom line how much money would America get? How much can the casinos make? Who gets to be the first billion dollar corporation and who gets the his name written in history as making the decision? Too bad if they could all agree there would be enough for all. In the mean time we all play at our sites trying to protect each other. Hell thank god for this site could you imagine how bad it would be if CM wasnt here. We keep paying the extra fees to load are cards and tranfer money here and there praying today is not they day the bank finds out. We all wait! Americas missing out of one of its biggest money making ventures why they all decide.

Sorry, the real issue is and always will be Age Verification at time of participation. And Webcams to expose the player's face puts everyone at the poker-face level of play strategy. Nevermind the phone and IM...
