Online Blackjack - qs

I remember when I first started to play BJ, it was at AP.

I was terrible, I did not know the rules and I broke most of them...splitting tens, doubleing down and splitting tens ..it was an awful experience, as I wanted to play but did not understand that it was the table as a whole, trying to beat the dealer.

I was yelled at in chat, cursed at and boy, if I were there in real life I would have been killed for sure, I felt.

So? I learned pretty quickly about the basics of BJ just because I wanted to play the game, I liked the multiplayer platform and wanted to learn.

They (the usual players) allowed me ...very slowly..to sit back in when the saw that I had improved on the lower stake tables. lol...boy, I cried my heart out because they hated me...but just before AP shut it's doors, they recognized me as one of them. :) That was cool. It took a long time, though. :)

The one I have been playing is just called

'low stakes blackjack'

Tend to play £2 per hand

The variance in BJ is quite high in my experience. It cannot be compared to baccarat or black/red in roulette. The reason is that if the player is not getting enough blackjacks and split/double options in the given session, the RTP may fall well below the advertised (and statistically correct and valid) 99.4 %.

For the sake of illustration: Long time ago, there was an EV+ single-deck blackjack in Boss Media casinos (I think it was blackjack with something like 100.05 % RTP). Someone created a bot and offered it for sale for this specific game. But they honestly stated that they had to play something like a million hands at 1 EUR stakes to make profit and that at one point the balance was -1600 EUR before the RTP prevailed and the balance went to positive numbers.
Casinos stopped offering that game several years ago.

Basic Strategy

To the OP, never split 10s. Basic Strategy Pair Splitting Rules. Always splint As and 8s. Never split 4s, 5s, 10s. If you are going to play Blackjack, you should know basic strategy by memory.

The complete basic strategy is available in countless books and even on credit card sized charts for your wallet. For more info refer to my ancient thread:

Good Luck!

Or have a look at the Wizard of Odds website.Basic strategy charts are listed for every form of blackjack including when to split and when to double. You cannot really quote a rule about splitting 4s,5s,8s and aces as it depends on whether the dealer peeks for blackjack and whether double after splitting is allowed.
I would go with the opinion that live blackjack is a far safer version than the computerised version. As has been stated you never feel comfortable with 20 even against a dealer 4,5 or 6.The live version is slower but if you master basic strategy you will feel that you have a far better chance of coming out ahead.
