Looking through the stills of these old slots makes me feel like I'm chopping up onions, such were the good times had.

Now I just cry with laughter at anyone who plays these new monstrosities masquerading as 'slots' :D

Having somehow managed to forget about this thread for a whole year, I have decided to pick up from where I left off with more of my memorable screenshots of big wins, or just games I used to love, but are no longer with us :(

So, from the first 9 days of January in years gone by...

1. I haven't posted any screenies on the forum for over 2 and a half years

2. HTML5 IR is a piece of hot nerfed garbage that claims to still have an RTP of 96.86%, yet quite often appears to play significantly WORSE
than the Mega Moolah version which (if you take the JP contribution out) has an RTP that is OVER TEN PER CENT less (I think it is 86.73%).

If the RTP is what Microgaming claim it is, I can only conclude that they have seriously tweaked the variance.
Wins in the 100x-500x range (something that players could achieve on Viper several times in the same session) seem to be much, much harder to land.

The Viper version of IR wasn't just "a little bit better", it was light years better, different planet, different galaxy in fact.
You didn't need 4-reel WDs to win big. 3-reelers, even some 2-reelers could hit the spot. And all four FS features could deliver good results.

They seem to be in rather short supply now. And believe me, I have played plenty of spins on the HTML5 version (at much lower stakes) to give myself
a chance of being won over. Because at the back of my mind, I do wonder if I am just being a rampant foilhatter.

Another great game ruined by a rather unscrupulous and perniciously designed HTML5 makeover.
To the extent that I think you stand a better chance of winning on TS2.

I never, ever thought I would see myself typing those words. Hell has indeed frozen over.

Somehow missed this classic from my previous post - my biggest ever win on one of my all-time favourite MG slots!
Free-spins ended with bet x363, on Jan 7th 2009...
(Bet £4, win £1,452)

Anybody else think we have lost something along the way, even with all the bells and whistles and "potential" wins?
I dont remember having to play 100,s of games to get some shitty feature that more often than not paid a pittance.
The big difference was that the games were mostly random, what you saw on the reels was what you got instead
of the predetermined pick a value then display it which is how everything seems to run now

Six years ago may have been past slotting's peak, but it was still a darn sight better than the guff of today, and still pre-HTML5 'conversions' I believe?

And of course just near or roundabout the time when BTG spread its prominence like a fungus, and ruined the pastime for most!

Still, it's nice to see a throwback to better times, even Rival

I used to love Rival games - but when they switched to HTML5 they didn't bother converting about 3/4 of their slots - which is a crying shame ?

Only really played them in my very early days when Rival threw out regular NDB's -Played for the fun and never really tried to cash out.

Loved their story based games (memory test time :o) Spy Game? - As the Reels Turn? Plus a couple of their 3 reelers, One with big juicy fruits on it and another based on Gold Prospecting?? (Nope not Bonanza :p)

That boxing game of theirs was top tier! And although many titles felt like reskins, they had enough variation in them to distinguish them from one another, so that each game felt thematically different and got the player invested into that setting ?

Rival always got a bad rap, based off their 'questionable' casinos' use, so that in the end everyone thought it was bad software by default.

When in actuality their software was up there with the best of the time, and could be best described as a mix of Netent & Playtech. They deserved more plaudits for sure ?

Yeah, you are correct - they were the iSlots. They used to have about 24 - including a few with TRUE SKILL bonus features.
Since the conversion to HTML5, they now only have 3
They are Cirque Du Slots, Sherwood Forest Fortunes & Panda Party

This was the original list (off some old website I made years ago! (There were a few more, added after I stopped keeping it up-to-date)):

My favourites were Switch in Time, Baby Boomers, Fixer-Upper, Hole in Won, Spy Game & Rock On. Sadly they are all gone ?

I think you are the only bloke left in the UK who plays RTG and rival. Seriously. I doubt anyone else does, joking aside. You are rarer in the UK than British persons who've been into space. You are almost certainly outnumbered by the amount of Prime Ministers we had in 2023.

Seriously, joking aside, if you have never played Rival or RTG then you have missed out on some GREAT slots :(

Still, it's nice to be in the same exclusive club as Tim Peake & Liz Truss

Another cool collection. Are you still playing it?

The music games by Netent were some of my most formative, and most-played games of the time, before the infatuation with Gonzo's Quest kicked in.

Though switching between the three when getting mullered, thematically I liked the Groovy Sixties the least, and the Eighties one the best, mainly for the funky boombox beatdowns and electronic licks. Seventies one was ok, though I remember nothing about it to be fair ?

Real shame most of these games have gone forever, just imagine a retro site where they could still be played,
I know it can give a false impression when all the shots are winners, and losing runs were still part of the game
but I am sure the entertainment value was much higher and i dont remember playing any game for hundreds of spins
without a bonus, think that was down to a high degree of true randomness based on actual reel combinations,
the percentages on some games could be calculated straight from the reel strips.I dont think that is possible
on any game nowdays.
The exception was of course MG pub slots, thats another story though :)

I played TRex a lot when was I regular at Inetbet back in the day but never ever hit big on it. I do miss some of the RTG games and the variance compared to today's new gen slots seems totally tame in comparison. If there was a decent none crypto RTG that took UK players I would defo go back in. But its a no go it seems especially if wanting to dep with a card or e-wallet.

Yes, I agree. A lot of the very latest RTG (now called SpinLogic) games look very good, and many have features copied from the "main-stream" softwares. They LOOK like they have the potential to pay really BIG sometimes... but in my experience so far, most of them actually play as very low variance and decent wins (over 50x) seem hard to find :(

Pretty sure of all the RTGs I recommend for UK players, some may accept deposits with cards, but all only pay out with Cryptos - namely Bitcoin.

I totally understand your reluctance to get into Cryptos - I wanted nothing to do with it, until I was forced to back in 2016 when some of the people I work for said they will ONLY pay in Bitcoin. Took a while for me to get used to it and understand how it all works, but it is actually a very simple process for depositing and withdrawing from casinos.

But it had an upside: When I first started receiving Bitcoin, they were "only" around $600 each. I sold "a considerable number" at around double that, but if only I had known that by 2022 they would reach nearly $70,000 each... I could have been a millionaire!
Ain't hindsight a bitch
