Well, Omni said they were going to review their bonus after all the fuss (as in Omni Casino Tricks thread), and they have:-

You now have to wager not $2500, but $4000 to get the $100 bonus.

And it looks like Sands have scrapped their monthly bonus completely!
(And increased the S.U.B. from 25x to 40x WR)

This is exactly what several of us feared would happen with the proliferation of 'bonus abusers' who are interested only in a short-term quick handful of bucks rather than long term month-on-month income...

Oh well, what can you do? :(

Inter Casino, Ritz Club Online are elegantly rich enough that they don't
even care a bit of such weird terminoogy like "bonus abusers". They just
give away like true rich men. I like Ritz especially, since they are giving out
the air of noble casino and truly so. " Bonus abusers " are the words usually employed by casinos which are trying to watch the movement of every cents like hungry birds.

Yep, the casinos love those players who make a long term monthly profit and would never dream of considering them 'bonus abusers' ;)

Anyway, the Crypto casinos have been quite slow to 'rationalise' their bonuses the way the rest of the industry has. It's not quite time for an obituary to bonus whoring - there's still no earthly reason to play at 95% of casinos except for their bonuses, so unless they just want to shut up shop...

Seems to me that Omni "reviewing their bonus" is what created the fuss in the first place - their switch to granting the bonus after wagering. I would have guessed that the change would have reduced problems, since you "earn" the bonus before receiving it. But I guess they're going to sweat every penny. I personally don't care if they raise wagering requirements, as long as they are not astromonical (like 70 or 100x or something).

As for the Sands, I'll be much less attracted to their casino without the bonus to lure me in. Too bad.

How true. Gamblers are so short-sighted. Well, what can you expect? And, like you said, what can you do? Nothing I guess. Human nature.

On another note, one thing I think you CAN do, is learn to play or improve your poker game. THIS, is a field of opportunity that is just going to get better. imho :)

I beg to differ. Intercasino excludes players from some countries from receiving the monthly match bonus because they feel that most of them are 'bonus abusers'. No qualms on that, though because they run a business and it is up to them to decide who to attract. But really, they dont give money away like true rich men,do they?

My problem with online poker is that there are so many people having a go these days, that you often find you're up against someone who hasn't a clue, or is too rich to care, and they'll chase you to the river and catch the one card they need to make their 4-7o into a winner! :(

I lost $1000's to online poker until becoming more controlled at the start of this year. My last deposit at TruePoker was $50 in January, I've played 3-4 times a week and now have $80-ish. $30 profit in 11 months is not that impressive really is it! :eek2:

So I think I'll stick to casinos - at least until ALL the decent bonuses dry up... :(

KK, are you just playing limit? If so, play No Limit. That will stop alot of the chasing.

IMO Poker is way more profitable than any casino game. Even though rake is a factor there is no house edge.

Actually, I very rarely play Hold'em at all. I don't like the game.
I'm an Omaha Hi/Lo guy - and yes, I play mostly limit only.

I would like to play no limit, but first I need to grow bigger testicles! :D

"No limit" isn't necessarily a big game. As I'm sure you know, there's a size of "no-limit" for everyone, small to big, available online. In my opinion online is now WAY better than Brick & Mortar. Everything about it is better. The ease of moving around from game to game. The low rake. No dealer tokes. etc.

Regarding your "need to grow bigger testicles", I must tell you that my online profit has improved since I started playing as a girl. So maybe you ought to reconsider that.

Tell me - was the operation painful???

Since I started playing online as a girl, I can't believe the times that other players have called me the B-word. Now, I ask you. Is that any way to talk to a girl?

But my profit has definitely gone up since the "operation". It is a real phenomenon how other players play differently against me when they think I'm a girl. This is certainly another benefit of online poker compared to brick & mortar rooms. The only downside is that about once a month I get very moody.

Ironically, the Sands move was exactly what I had feared would happen, especially with players such as Megan who admitted that they played merely for the bonuses.

Sands appears to be attempting to allay the bitter taste somewhat by offering a higher comp rate, plus the 10% "insurance".

On one hand, it would be easy to dismiss the Sands group because they no longer allow the bonus. On the other, their comp program is quite lucrative, their customer service is first-rate, and the payback period has often surprised me (I was paid in less than 2 days last time).

From a pure marketing strategy, online casinos may have to use other approaches to differentiate themselves aside from bonuses. Bonuses are far from preferable anyway, since they usually represent a hard dollar cost to the casino, do nothing but "commoditize" a competitive advantage, and do not enhance brand equity.

It would be interesting if - from a purely ROI perspective - the scenario of "bonus" versus "non-bonus" programs. Since the Sands group has long had other properties that did NOT offer a bonus, I would daresay that it has found it to be more profitable - even after taking into account customer retention and acquisition - to NOT offer a bonus structure.

The reality is that - as uncomfortable as this may sound - the demise of recurring bonuses may not be as far off as once thought.

Perhaps they should have upped the wagering requirements a bit. For the longest time it was only 25x bonus. An increase to 40x might have seen their bottomline improve while still retaining the customer base. I'm speculating, of course. Look what Gold Club did. They too had something like 25x bonus for a long time. They tried 40x for a couple months and then threw in the towel. Of course, they were hindered by the Boss Media software which really offered players such little choice that probably everyone came in monthly and hammered them at blackjack for 25x and a prompt cashout. I like the concept that the player should be required to double their bonus, in other words they should HAVE to have a significant win to cash out, or go broke. I think this must work for some casinos and would eliminate the short-sighted people who only give minimum wagering and withdraw.

Gamblers really are short-sighted. And greedy. But I don't see how the casinos can stop giving good deals. They are NOT like a real casino. They've got to do something to get the players. It will be interesting if the U.S. ever legalizes online gambling and the actual Vegas casinos get into the business. THEN what will these guys in cyberspace do to compete?

Fascinating times we live in. :drink:

What the hell is going on here?

The Sands was the first internet casino I ever played in.
In the last year I have turned over nearly half a million in this casino ( I am VIP there) and now they have removed bonuses!!

I have withdrawn all my funds from my account and will not play there again until they once again make competitive offers.

How can this help their business in a competitive market?

This is a crying shame because it was one of my favourite casinos.

When you look at their payout table they are making good money, don't they want anyone to come out ahead? SAD
