New Year's "To Do" List

Here comes 2003, like a ton of ...something.

2002 was a tough year for the industry as a whole. Many casinos folded entirely.

The OPA started out 2002 hosted on the Casino Gazette site (for the Not Recommended and Recemmended lists) and Casino Meister site (forums). As the year progressed, online functions were moved over to the OPA's own site, which is commercial free.

Player complaints continued to be handled. All RTG casinos were placed on the Not Recommended list; at year's end, InetBet is the only one off that list. We continue to receive and forward RTG complaints.

Danes continue to receive shoddy treatment from several providers. Proof that their country is wracked with credit card fraud has never been provided. They are clearly a people too smart and good-looking for their own good.

What should the OPA put on our to-do list for 2003?

*Migrate the "Not Recommended" list to this url; rewrite the explanations of why to be more historically based and easier for players to verify against outside sources so they can make decisions based on personal preferences re:risk tolerance.

*Compose and post by-laws for the Association

suggestions?

A)Why has Mike Craig Disappeared?
B) Where are the WEEKLY ROUNDUPS the OPA used to post publicly. All player disputes (with the exception of OPA approved sites) should be made public, if its OK with the player.
1) Initial Player complaint
2) OPA contact letter #1
3) Casino Response #1
4) OPA Contact Letter #2
5) Casino Response #2
6) Final Result
7) OPA's determination of whether
player's complaint was settled in
a fair and timely manner, if at all.
Was the player paid in full?
Decision to put casino on
"NOT RECOMMENDED" listing.

Most of the complaint handling is no longer being done by Mike, but by Tortex.

The vast majority of complaints are about Realtime Gaming sites, which are forwarded from us to Real Time Gaming and then we usually don't hear back from either RTG or the player.

Those fall pretty much into the "slow pay" to "extremely slow pay" category or "they discovered I'm Danish and won't pay at all" category.

Why RGT signs up Danish webmasters as affiliates, and why RTG casinos do promotions through Danish webmasters, continues to be a mystery.

We don't get complaints about all the other "Not Recommended" sites because we know we aren't at all effective with them or that they are out and out crooks and nobody will be effective with them.

Of the OPA Recommended sites, we do get complaints about the Sunny Group (usually slow pay or confusing customer support), Black Widow/Grand Banks (who are now removed from the OPA Recommended list), and we did have some about Casino On Net and those got resolved.

There was a good fraud complaint about 32 Red that Casinomeister covered on his site. Basically, an individual claiming to be both a police officer and an agent of the US's Homeland Security submitted a digital photograph of a winning screen. It wasn't a very good fake, in other words. Next, she claimed it was her son that did it; but sonny boy has the same writing style as Mom.

Interesting person. Showed up on the web selling a book of poetry about Lizzie Borden supposedly owned and inscribed by Borden's longtime girlfriend.

OPA was involved with the Jagcasino dispute and got the players paid by going through the sportsbook side of that company with the help of Sting.

We have also attempted to contact Atlantic Interbet via email and by phone, with no response.
I found some more contact information yesterday, so we may be pursuing that after the holidays.

In 2003, the OPA isn't going to be raising any money. We don't charge for memberships, and we won't be offering any services for charges. Nor will we have any advertising on our site.

I'd like to see some more discussion of what our expenses actually are; and what the members consider the most important services.

I would like to get more dialog going between players and regulators. The regulators actually get paid and have the pwer to regulate, yet, it appears the Kahnewake are totally overwhelmed; Antigua was never responsive; Isle of Man is also not responsive; I got some email answered from Northern Territory of Australia once.

We'll take donations, though. We won't inturrupt regularly scheduled prgramming to ask for them.

I had an interesting call from the Director of Offshore Gaming for Antigua and Barbuda, Ron Maginley this week, and I have recently had communications replied to by his department.

Maginley has been working toward changing Antigua into a jurisdiction with sensible but strict regulations and the teeth and will to enforce them, and he says he has made good progress and now has a group of committed licensees and a genuine licensing regime.

We plan on getting an update on the jurisdiction by interviewing him in the 2003.

Can I ask if there is any news on the 'OPA recommended' Six Gun Casino ?

They seem to have disappeared with my money.

Jac, your complaint along with some others were re-sent Dec 19th.

You should have gotten an acknowledgement and so should we. You're right; this is not what "Recommended" should mean.

Interesting Jetset..

If you were asked to advise would you be able to base your advice on a working model currently active?

The Isle of Man for instance?

Some International conformity would be tolerable in the future also i think.(utopian mindset?)

Cross border law is treacherous ground though i guess.

Jacprops, no response to the Dec 19 re-send to "Mitch" at Six Gun. We plan on chasing this further in the near future and if there is no action....you can guess what comes next.

Jetset,

What does come next ? Presumably, they defraud me out of my money ?

How did these people get to be OPA recommended ?
