For anyone vaguely interested, this is a video someone has made playing my latest game in Vegas (it's on test at the moment...)

Looks really great Dave! I know you worked hard on this one and it really shows. Will have to check it out next time we are in Vegas territory.

Did you add anything additional when the top is reached and do 3 masks cause additional spins beside the level up mechanic?

Thanks for sharing. I would be super interested in hearing about your thought process in regards to the pay table structure? Is that something you devised yourself or are you obliged to use some sort of master IGT base of sorts? I don't want to rag but seems very similar to other IGT slots which are very unappealing to me.

Every time you level up, you get extra spins. Its different amount for each level up - +3, +3, +2, +2, +1 (each level pays a lot more per spin hence less spins per level up).

Because I remove the lowest value symbol and turn it in to a mystery symbol, the top level only has high value symbols on the reels and a LOT of mystery symbols, so each spin on the top level has a very high average pay. If you get there, you are unlucky not to get at least 50x per spin, and it can be as high as 1458x per spin.

The max prize I've seen in testing is over 4000x from 5 scatters. Yes, it's not DOA2 size or megaways size, but you have to remember that I have to make games work at a much bigger range of RTPs than online. If I only had to do a 95% version, then I could have probably gone higher...

No, the paytable structure is entirely of my own choosing. I originally had higher pays for each symbol, but this made it top hard to bring in the bigger wins (I.e 81 ways or more) and I wanted to be able to see 154 or 243 ways of the same symbol sometimes.

So I had to lower the pays... which are still higher than megaways games btw ;)

Remember, very very few people care what individual symbols pay... they are more interested in what the total win is.

Like the look of that game. A lot going on to please the eye and some decent features.

You have a cool job!

It is very volatile compared to most IGT games. I wanted to do something very different.

Oh, and btw... it isn't rigged and it doesnt talk to any other game to figure out what you have played before in order to rip you off.

Although it does have a camera built in which is ONLY used to recognise @Bloatgoat and guarantees to make sure he loses ;)

Based on what I saw in the video the pays seemed very IGT to me i.e. pretty weak. I just wondered if they mandated a particular structure or you have a free hand in that regard.

I guess if you're hampered by low RTP your hands are somewhat tied. Same goes for target market I suppose. Customers prefer low variance in landbased is what I'm led to believe?

Pays are nearly always low on ways games - go and check the pays on Bonanza... and no, customers don't necessarily prefer low variance (hence games like Buffalo are very successful).

What would you say are the differences to Flame Busters / Dragon Horn from Thunderkick?

There are a number of differences - although Flamebusters was admittedly my starting point as i really liked this game. I wanted to do something simliar, but put my own twist on it...

1. The pays are different
2. I award different amounts of free games for 3, 4 and 5 scatters
3. I award different amounts of extra free games for each level up (3, 3, 2, 2, 1)
4. The frequency of the feature is higher on my game
5. I guarantee that it feels very different to play, but yes - it's a nod of the hat to Flamebusters for sure!

Zero interest. 4000x max is too low for my taste.

The fun of playing online slots for me is that huge but very unlikely win.

Which is fair enough... :)

What is the RTP range just out of interest, and what's the machine on the video set to?
Not sure, probably around 91% in the video. We make a wide range of RTPs from 85 up to 97 as we cover an enormous amount of markets.

How do you manage to create a decent game on 91%? UK bookies are carnage on that setting, and that's with capped jackpot...

Now imagine making them play well at 85% ;)

You just have to be as clever as possible with how you make the maths.

You’ll see my comment in Random’s video. I like the game mechanics here. I’ve never had much luck in Flame Busters but there’s a lot of potential in both games. If Random says it’s one of the best new games of 2019 then it’s the truth. Good work, TM.

Maybe introduce a Bonanza clone to America next?

Yes

Thanks mate. The issue with Megaways in retail is the RTP and the pays. The pays are tiny, the win frequency too frequent (in most) and the huge wins take up a huge amount of RTP so you need the high RTP to likely make them work. And very very few markets have an RTP high enough to make these work well (in my opinion).

Doesnt mean they CAN'T work, but it wont be a simple port I'm sure.
