I'm sorry for posting this rant here but this thing has been getting on my nerves for years.

So I was reading this thread: https://www.casinomeister.com/forums/threads/no-more-32red-for-me.52105/

and I noticed in the email pasted by the OP that the sender from 32red signed "Ben". Now 32red is supposed to be the ne plus ultra of online gaming and someone is sending an important email to a customer and signs "Ben"?

I've been dealing with a ton of "Samantas", "Brians" and "Johns" over the years in dozens of different online casinos (especially in the support chat windows). These names always looked randomly made up, along with the pre-made welcome and goodbye messages and it always pi**** me off. I've never seen someone working for an online casino with a "rare" name or with a name that sounds from other ethnicities. The support guy always have a generic name like Brian (right...)

What kind of business sends a letter to a customer and signs "Ben"? Who the hell is Ben? Is it Benjamin? Benjamin who? Does he have a full name? These casinos want me to send copies of my passport, utility bills, drivers license and whatnot while they can't even sign a damn letter with their full names? I'm not only targeting 32red here but the whole online gaming sphere. They always make me feel like I'm dealing with criminals.

Did you consider that it might well be that the Viking and Ben are on a first name basis?
I know i am with my aquintances @ 32Red :)
Also, it's a personal taste, some like to get familiar, and some don't.
32Red happens to also be one of the places where they aren't likely to bug you bigtime for documents and whatnot.
I hear you though, i can relate to a certain extent: i'm guessing your main gripe is the "need for verification" at most casinos, which is frankly indeed kind of ridiculous, especially if they send you familiar emails without knowing you well.

Not really.

Looks a lot more like a default signature than something you'd send to a friend.

The problem is they want to know who we are but they don't want to tell who they are. Actually, let me take it a step further: If one of the two parties should have the privilege to stay anonymous, it should be us. Like in any serious customer/business relationship.

Hi Balthazar,

I'm sorry to hear that your unhappy with Ben's name. I can assure you it's not made up, you are correct his birth name is indeed Benjamin but he chooses to abbreviate it. I'm not sure I ever thought it would be a problem.

Some of the "rare" ones (in my opinion anyway) we have are: Merryn, Lorna, Marco, Dominick and Amber (sorry if you're reading this guys, I picked you as examples lol) - but yes, I'm afraid we also have more than one Steve, David and Paul - and of course just the one Ben. I guess when popular names exist, they are also popular in the casino world.

Regards,
Mark

I am about to do a PAB in this case. I think it is quite necessary to involve Max here, as I have never in my life seen some many strange names. I really hope that Max can do something about this as it is completely unacceptable for a casino to hire people with names like Dominick and Amber :p

Cheers

Stian

By the way...I will not be happy until every CS reps at 32Red have the same name as me.

"Hi and welcome to 32Red live chat. My name is Stian. How may I help you?"....yeah...this is how it should be:D

Not really.

Personally I don't have a problem with people's names.

Wow. Superb rant Balthazar! (if that is indeed your name, I'm a tad dubious)

I'd really love to know what else winds you up.

I go by three names..
Tom
Thomas
Tommy
& I hate being called Tommy
And at times my mother still calls me Timmy the name I should of been I guess.

Does signing "Ben" look professional and trustworthy to you?

Imagine something like that...

Dear Mark,

This is to inform you that you can no longer play at our land-based casinos.

Hmm. Yeah. Sounds legit. Not.

But somehow, it's totally acceptable in the online casino world.

Balthazar,

Actually, I am on a first name basis with two casino managers and I sign my first name and they sign theirs. Does not detract from their professionalism.

Enzo, at 3Dice, has always just been Enzo.

I really don't see a problem. Heck, even the Crown Prince of Nigeria calls me 'Beloved Friend'. LOL!

I guess, using first names as salutation or in letters shall make us feel like we communicate with intimated friends or relatives. All the online casinos want to be our friends...lol. Should be not a problem, I don´t need a high standard of business english to ask: "where is my bonus?"

Well I think part of it must be a security issue with casino employees right? I mean gamblers can sometimes get nasty - like that guy awhile back who got busted after sending death threats. Seriously if I was working for an online casino I certainly wouldn't use my full name, what if I ended up having to deal with some irate weirdo who got banned from the casino and then googled my name and found my address and decided to pay me a visit?

One thing about names, many casino employees use pseudonyms for their own protection. In fact some employers insist on it. Just imagine the sore losers out there who have the resources to stalk these people or visit their homes. There are absolutely some real sick people out there - I have the emails to prove it.

If someone is using their first name only, so what? I could think of other things that are pet peevish.

Bet I get mine first,my euromillion winner "friends" here have decided to give me the same amount.

Its a sure thing-they really did win-I've checked :p

Have you received your money yet???

I replied last week on same email. And monday morning I took day off work, so I could go to my bank.

I got a loan of £13500 as they wanted me to send them to a secret bank vault in Switzerland. To cover cost and other things.

But what you would not do to get £1 mlillion??

But I have not heard from them since, I event tried ringing the mobile number they gave me :eek:

I really hope I have not been cheated????
