Major Annoyance With Netspend

Hi All,

I've been depositing with Netspend for a number of months now, and I've consistantly run up against a major annoyance-Either Netspend or the casino's ecash company is making extra withdrawals from my balance. Example: I had $500 on my card last weekend and I deposited $300 and played at a well known and CM Accredited casino that I have been playing with for probably 5+ years. Today I went to make a deposit and my balance is $0. I show 2 transactions totaling $202 in "pending" status. My experience is that this money will stay there for 30 days and then will be released back to my account.

I don't understand who is doing this, why they are doing it, and what I can do about it, including possibly another deposit mechanism.

Can someone shine a ray of light on this for me?

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin,

This has happened to me and here's what I found out. This is from Netspend. If they have it flagged as a gambling payment, they will hold the pending charge for a period of time even though the casino actually runs the charge through. That's why it looks like 2 charges. Now mine were always for the same amount as I deposited. They did this to me for about a month and then haven't done it since.

Here's my way around it. I have two cards. I keep money on one and transfer it over to the other to make the deposit. That way they can't tie up all of my money because they can and will overdraw your account. In the end it will all even out again but for 30 days it sucks.

It is generally the casino doing a batch set.

The processor asks for a hold when you first deposit - they get a transaction number - and it goes into Netspend as Pending Transaction (the one that holds the money until they can withdraw it when you first request it) - and then when they run it through to actually take the money - they create a NEW transaction number and it comes as a Netspend pending again - and they let the batch number for the original pending expire.

Contact your casino and let them know that their processor might be doing this - and to ask them to PLEASE use the first Batch number that they have asked for when they clear their charges all at one time.

Otherwise - they are losing out on the extra money you could be spending with them for at least 30 days.

I mean - hey --- seriously - talk money and they might listen.

Netspend usually only processes what they see.

So send your Casino the Screen shot of them double batching - and I'll bet ten to one it won't happen again.

I had this problem once with BoDog - and it took me 2 months to figure out - once I did - I talked to them - and they NEVER did it again.

Good Luck.

I agree with AnnieMac. I have had this happen to me with various casinos, and netspend cs told me the exact same thing regarding gambling transactions. This occurred with different processors, and every time i talked with the casino, they said it was netspend, which i believe. i no longer use netspend but wired plastic,

kmartinusa,

Wired Plastic is a reloadable debit card just like Netspend.

As far as the "double charge" from Netspend, I had to wait 7 days only, not 30. Netspend releases the money back into your account as soon as the 7 days are up and the merchant does not "claim" the money. (just read your post Jasminebed as I was typing this and saw why there was a difference in days to wait)

This has only happened to me with Netspend with a few deposits a few months ago and had not happened since.

I have both NS and WP but still continue to use NS with no problems.

anniemac, I like having 2 NS cards too. Makes life easier with the ability to transfer funds from card to card instantly. LOL I sound like a NS rep but I'm not. I just love the card!
