I play this slot differently from every other slot, let me explain why before I give you an example.
1. The way this slot is designed it's almost impossible to get a heartstopper bonus in profit, on average expect to be down 500x stake for 40 hearts. The most extreme case I've experienced is 140x stake down for ONE heart, not 40, no ... 1.
2. Base game runs at around 50% RTP. You can only beat this number by A. Good features (very rare) B. High double angel multiplier wilds that actually connect (extremely rare). You can have over 100% RTP only very shortly because the paytable just doesn't allow it.
3. Because of the extreme volatility you can have 0 features during your 40 heart collection journey or 10, let's say you get 3 on average. I've had 72 hearts before a regular feature once and I've had 3 back to back features once. Anyway, we can put them in 5 brackets:
- Bad features: 0x-100x (100x is pretty much nothing in a heartstopper cycle)
- Decent features: 100x-500x
- Good features: 500x-1000x (1000x is 1 virtually guaranteed heartstopper cycle)
- Aweseome features: 1000x-5000x (single angel retrigger)
- Epic features: 5000x-50000x (double angel retrigger, or multiple normal retrigger on dynamite lover)
90% of the features is bad of course, because of stacked randomness. You need a good symbol AND be very lucky in the spins, even 9s whiff very often.
4. The goal is an epic feature win.
Having said all that I can answer your question
For instance: I start with 10 bullets of €100 (total €1000) at €1 stake, I set autoplay to 100 with loss limit of 40x and single win limit of 50x. It will hit the loss limit >90% of the time. Very very rarely will it hit the single win limit. Like I said, base game is a b*tch. I do this 2x in a row, normally I am then left with €20, I either play 2 spins at €10, 4 spins at €5 or 8 spins at €2,50. I mix it up because the only way to win in the base game is a rare fluke of a win at higher stakes than your heartstopper cycle. 20% of my budget goes to chasing these flukes. In the end (after a million spins) this won't matter of course, but I'm not gambling at €1 stake, I'm grinding, so I know I'll never beat the RTP there. If I'm lucky I get a feature or a double angel wild win at much higher stakes than my current cycle. If not, well who cares, I was going broke chasing those 40 hearts at 40% RTP anyway. So a few times I hit like 168x at €10 and suddenly I have a whole free one and a half cycle at €1! Or I can go up a stake! Those higher than usual spins are the actual gambling I'm doing, the rest is grinding like I said. You need to grind because the only real money is in the features. The rest of your RTP is irrelevant.
Once I'm up to ~€2K I start doing the same thing at €2,50 but if I run bad I go back to €1, the awesome and epic wins at €2,50 I cash out, I don't go up to €5 or €10.
I work behind a computer so I can just have this thing on autoplay all day. I really believe you have to grind this one, it's designed to almost be impossible to win on without an awesome feature. Everybody else will lose. I do think it's a very cleverly designed slot, from the provider perspective

Most people will probably give up after a few 500x stake down cycles though so we'll see if this thing has longevity for BTG.
TL;DR: The actual game (win potential) is in the features, they're very rare and mostly garbage so you have to grind for them. Grinding is a guaranteed loss because of paytable design so I mix it up with some actual gambling at much higher stakes. Probably all this BS I'm doing is some sort of gambler's fallacy, but so far it has worked, haha.
