It's a boy!

/British and couldn't give a sh*t about the royal baby, good job the BBC wont report on it for the next 6 weeks and conveniently bury all of David Cameron's crush the poor/elderly/disabled/NHS agenda.. oh wait.

Well, I was expecting (so to speak) some anti-Royal posts.

Life is hard for many of us but just this one day for a couple of people that, for one, had no choice but being royal and another that met him , fell in love and had a baby boy. Let's just celebrate a happy occasion for this young couple, who are young and just beginning their life as a family.

I read earlier that Dr. Marcus Setchell, the Queen's gynecologist who delivered the boy reportedly stopped drinking several weeks ago in preparation for the event....

Then I thought "Exactly how much do you drink?"

"The baby's due in a few of weeks. I should probably start sobering up."

In his defense, he IS the Queen's gynecologist.

I think Rowley Birkin QC perfectly commented on this.

I am a little upset, as a fellow brit, who was born and raised in the UK.

It's a shame that no one , so far, has said anything or who can separate their own agenda from celebrating an innocent couple's joy, regardless of ridiculous crap.

It's a world of 'politics' and they should not be caught up into your sarcastic remarks, at this moment Shame on you.

If you can't say anything decent, don't post.

Start your own 'hating and sarcastic' thread.

I'm pissed because no one has said anything nice about the birth of a baby. Regardless of heredity.

Would you like to see the above posts about your just-born?

well, frankly, it's not my job to wish them super joy or happiness, nor taper my response to a thread I'm free to post in
what, you think Prince William (and he aint MY prince) is at home reading the thread, nudging his wife, going, aww, aint that sweet, I feel overjoyed
if they don't like being the target of jibes and scrutiny, stop having lavish televised weddings, and driving by in royal coaches waving for adoration..they arent private figures
if you want to send them a personal yay-you thanks, write them a letter - I don't think theyre swinging by the casino forum any time soon

Oh my even John Terry came to see that happy event :D

Dang, didn't know there was so much dislike for the Royals. Thought that was an American thing, not for the Royals, but for our present/past government. At least we can get rid of ours every 4 years. LOL!

That said, I find a new Royal baby to be a sweet and newsworthy thing. Kinda refreshing to hear about a new baby instead of the current death and destruction we get on US news.

I wish William, Kate and new son well. Besides I had much rather see this baby than the current Kardashian/West progeny that they so brilliantly named, North.

North West, god love her. Good thing they have lots of money cause I can imagine that public school would be a nightmare with a name like that. What is 'cute' now might not be quite so cute at 50.

Are you kidding me?

Stop having 'lavish weddings' and blah blah blah?

Do you think they had a choice? Maybe, but eloping would not only upset his father and maybe Kate's parents? Why would they HAVE to do that to please the 'upset' about the royal family. That is unfair on them.

How do you think that eloping would be a better thing, if you think that? How in 'reality' would that go down. :p

I can see giving them $10 because they needed gas money because they were destitute and no room at the Inn? Really?

It is what it is.

Regardless of their 'position' in the world, it is unfair to put them down just because of royalty.

This has become senseless.

of course they had a choice - noone says you HAVE to be a public figure - they happily signed on.
And youre right, it IS what it IS - noone here is obligated to wish them well, care one way or the other or abstain from commenting - be it congratulatory or sarcastic.
What next, don't speak negatively about Obama because someone adored him, no laughing next time Lohan falls out of the car drunk and high because someone thinks she's super-cool.
You're more than welcome to praise them - anyone else is welcome to post a contradictory post.
Personally, they had a baby, big deal - people have been doing it since there were first people. But I suppose, if it makes others happy - congratulations to the parents of the potential heir to an outdated obsolete form of government - maybe he'll get to open a mall one day.

im sorry but all opinions aside saying william "had a choice" to be a public figure is franky a stupid comment, kate knew what she was getting into but he was born into it and its the only life he has ever known and one which he has lived quite well considering the pressure and constant watching, whats he supposed to do cut himself off from the family and work in the local supermarket? even if he did it ppl would still be curious choice of his or not....

oh, people who are born into certain classes MUST remain in said class?
sorry poor people - no betterment for you - it's 7-11 or nothing...
ANYONE can opt not to remain in their station..because he's born into it it's all he knows? He has a 1st class education - he'd know better than most what the life would entail, especially growing up into and around it.

Regardless of whether he lives it, stays within it, or hides from it - doesnt change the fact I'm entitled to express what ever view toward it I'd like

Well, first of all I'm not a Brit. I'm Canadian and I am neither for nor against the Royal Family. In fact I'm completely indifferent about the entire situation.

But here's the thing. There are over a quarter of a million babies born every day and I do wish every one of them well but unless I know the parents personally, I really don't feel the need to congratulate every one of them. I just don't have the time or the ambition. Especially in a forum I seriously doubt they'll ever read.

If you had said you had a baby then I would be quite happy to offer my congratulations and wish you both well but that just wasn't the case. As for me being sarcastic, if it wasn't for sarcasm most of the time I wouldn't have much of a reason to type.... Or talk.

And for the record, I DID make fun of my just-born. The first thing I said when I saw my new born son was "Are you sure he's done? He looks like he's not ready yet."

oh, and I'd think suggesting a supermarket ...not so much a clever retort - I'd think the heir to one of (if not the) wealthiest land owners, has a few more options than Pggly-Wigglies to bag your tv dinners. There's several children of dynasties we dont see in the limelight. Noone can make you pose for OK and preen for the masses.

I saw this being televised on the major shows this morning, what a pathetic waste of broadcast time. I could really careless about them having a baby, and I certainly don't need a play by play as to what's happening. And other than family and close friends, why the hell does anyone care about them having a baby. I was happy to see the Trayvon/Zimmerman talk not there today, until I saw it was replaced with this.

In their defense, I think when you're born into and raised by a royal family you learn certain behaviours and unless you're the extremely rebellious type you're probably going to go along with most of what's expected. They are a source of great admiration but I'm sure they've long since learned and accepted that with great admiration comes great condemnation. They have celebrity, political and monarchal status and any one of these comes with benefits and disadvantages.

One of the disadvantages is me making fun of them in an online gambling forum. If they do find out about it I'm sure they will consider it a small price to pay for a shot at the British Throne.

Well, that's the problem with television. They have a bad habit of broadcasting what the majority of the viewers want to see. If it was up to me we could have spent the morning watching Columbo.

first, could you try posting WITHOUT referring to my opinions as stupid? second, I'm not your 'dude'..I don't know you.
I didn't say I can raise myself to the level of king (though you can theoretically marry INTO royalty)....people can and aspire to the presidency....gold-diggers marry into money...you can try to change your class/station..isn't that why we have freedoms, choices etc?
...the point was, you don't HAVE to remain at the same level- isn't that the point of aspiring? I can be BORN dirt poor, knuckle through school, earn a good income and job. A wealthy kid can distance himself from his family and money or be cut off. Kings CAN abdicate. Heiresses don't all have to be Paris Hilton reality show starlets - they can live a somewhat private life without ACTIVELY choosing the limelight. Because you're a royal, the men in black come around and say you MUST be in the public eye, agree to photo ops, pose for magazines.....er, no

I give up.

I started this thread hoping for an uplifting and glorious ,shining and tadaaaa! halo above us all and all I got was a thunder cloud.

You lot are a hard crowd.

You just reminded me to keep me legs crossed, but alas I am too old or royal enough to get this kinda treatment.

TG.

OK, (reminder to self..."don't mention the war";))

never said you were my dude just looking at your profile pic makes me think either dude or chav one of the 2 anyways although heavily leaning on chav tbh, but onto the point at hand its pretty obvious ppl can aspire to other things its common sense the point you made about him choosing what he wants to be is ridiculous though in reality it really is from the moment you came into this thread you have wanted to troll its obvious but fail trolls will always be fail trolls your points are nonesense to the point at hand what you say everyone knows and is common sense but think about it in reality it aint gonna happen sure he can say "thats it i have had enough im going to work in the mines and want privacy" but you think for one minute average joe will let him and leave him alone? not on your bloody life hence the choice isnt as black and white as you make out...dude ;P

If I am not mistaken , the Royal birth is estimated to bring in 400 million or so Dollars / Pounds from tourists and those buying trinkets to take home and just celebrating the birth of the future King , the Queen also has a 90% approval rating and I much admire this woman for being on the throne for so many decades and loving her country and it's people , I read a book on her childhood and all she did as well as her Father the King and her Mother the Queen during WW2.

It really does the heart good to see William and Kate or any loving couple bring a child into the world , nothing more precious than a child , Royal or not !

Congrats William and Kate !!!!

Ah, newbies resorting to derogatory name calling.

Being a member of the royal family puts you under the spotlight and or/microscope by others - it doesn't mean you have to revel in it or use it as a platform. The British monarchy isn't a ruling class - they're celebrities...and no one is forced to buy into the role. His family owns enough homes and has enough security, that his public omni-presence is CHOICE not obligation

It was a wonderful topic and that's why I signed on to see what was being said, do not let a few get you down or get under your skin, you have a right to post just as they do , except you do not have to read theirs lol:D

Thanks for posting:thumbsup:

I agree. People are welcome to post about anything they like and they really shouldn't let a few jokes or negative remarks burst their bubbles. The Royal Family are loved by millions and I certainly don't begrudge anyone for it. Besides, I only made fun of their doctor. It seems fairly doubtful that he's equally adored.

because it's not so simple to just chuck em - aside from tradition, they own far too much of the property lol

and I agree - I'm not a Brit, it's nothing to me really how much someone adores them...or despises them. They aren't mine. But I'm free to comment on them. The thread said 'it's a boy'..it didn't say 'come bring him gifts of myrrh and frankincense' - the topic is open to any interpretation or opinion.

Thanks Laurie. :)

Who are these peeps and what are they talking about?

I dunno, a baby is responsible for all of this?

Hmmm, this must be a baby with a lot of responsibility on it's head. Imagine that? Who asked for this crap?

(trying to crawl back into womb)

Well, you were bemoaning no one had anything nice to say. Why SHOULD anything be said from anyone of a congratulatory nature? Yay Kate, youve managed what women have done since the dawn of time?
Let's be realistic, noone would even be mentioning this kid's birth if it weren't what is essentially, a celebrity couple's baby. Hundred of kids were just born, they don't have a mention here. And I didn't see you applaud those births. So, this is only noteworthy because it's a celebrity kid. Because it's a celebrity thread, people are going to comment. Not everyone across the world thinks the little prince's birth is any more special or interesting than any other birth this week, except that's its news worthy....therefore comment worthy..therefore ridicule worthy.
If you'd like to buy the new plate set and wish them well, fantastic! If everyone else wants to joke and kid, so be it as well

Happy birthday to everyone.:)

I'm done...watching The Bachelorette.;)

Happy birthday William, Harry, Arthur, Henry or Charles.

I vote for Zephyr. Then Zephyr Windsor can grow up with and marry the other recent celebrity kid ... Kim's kid North West (who'd then be North West Windsor) and then, our kids can celebrate the birth of the next generation of celeb kids, when they breed little Santa Ana Windsor

Well, since this is a gambling forum, I was wondering how the bookies made out?

I lost a toonie myself in a local pub pool having picked a girl, and I picked the 17th anyway.

I am more interested in the name I think. Don't have any money down.

Glad mom and baby are well. How could you wish otherwise.

But the same anglophile that started the pub pool (we called her Lady Di for years) was posting to facebook, and there was a lot of Someone was pregnant? More puppies? etc.

Secret, I don't think anyone was really attacking you, but frankly I don't care very much myself. I do think it's newsworthy, but the sheer volume of hype is mindblowing.

Well I took your thread in the spirit in which you started it.

Look how many journalists have been camped out for a week awaiting the royal birth.

The healthy birth of a child is always something to celebrate, and in William and Kate's case perhaps a symbol of hope for the future as they seem very modern and down to earth as future rulers/influence on world events.

I do think there's a bit too much coverage, but at the same time some of my fellow Brits people make me laugh. They will broadcast to the world and it's wife about how proud they are to be British yet when history is being made complain left, right and centre.

They're the same people that will have complained about the heat during the recent sunny weather, only to then complain now we have thunderstorms about the wet weather.
