We've been experiencing some spam traffic that is clogging up some of the tubes in Casinomeisterland. Compounded with my experimenting with the .htaccess file and a pending server upgrade.

And of course my router is going tits up.

The top 5 stats section was draining the server, so it's disabled until we finish the upgrade.

Just wanted to let you know what's up.

Not necessarily.

A few years ago I was working site security for a poker forum.


The forum got a severe spam attack that went on for weeks.
I don't mean the usual crap we see here, but some of the sickest things that could be posted (child porn, bestiality, etc)

Having admin privileges I was able to get the IP addresses of the source and it turned out that it was originating from Saudi Arabia.

I proceeded to contact the Saudi embassy in Ottawa regarding this, showing them the spam as well as the IP address and trace, and was promised action.


About a month later I was sent a copy of a newspaper article, along with it's English translation showing that the spammer had been arrested, charged with many crimes (both against the state as well as Muslim law), was found guilty and then publicly beheaded.


For some strange reason, Saudi Arabia doesn't seem to be the source of much spam anymore.
