What verification do you send in?

Hey,

I just joined a new site and they asked me to send in ID and bank statement etc. but they've not accepted due to the bank statement being edited. I covered the transactions up obviously but showed what they asked for which was my address details and the date of the statement. They seem to want me to just send them a copy of the first page of my bank statement (although they didn't explain it very well when I asked for clarification) and I'm not comfortable showing this. I've always been accepted on other sites covering the transactions although it's been a while since I've been asked as not joined any new sites until recently. Just wondering what everyone else does? Thanks!

Do you know why they are asking for it? If it’s just KYC then you’re fine to send the first page of bank statement or driving licence with address on. If it’s Due Dilligence they will want to see the full statement.

@Mark_Lottomart they just call it verification I think, what they ask for when you join a new site-to check ID and address details match I guess? Is that KYC? I've not even deposited yet. Never had an issue with doing this before. I understand they don't want anything edited but I thought as long as you showed the sides of the statement you could cover the transactions. I haven't edited anything else as I wouldn't know how to. If it's just to check the address they shouldn't need to see anything else. Seems like the site is a non-starter! I joined a couple others so we'll see if they accept the same docs or not.

Sounds like it’s just KYC. Strange as this is usually done frictionless with a third party provider. Have you recently moved? New build property? If you have driving licence with address and a passport that’s what I’d be sending personally.

Which site?

Some sites are more jobsworth-y than others. I usually send just the first page for basic KYC, some sites still ask for full statement, even on basic KYC. Many years ago I used to censor my statements for privacy but increasingly as the years went on it was causing me issues/delays so I stopped bothering.

Would need to know which site it is to deduce whether or not it is better to stand your ground on privacy, provide alternative proofs or capitulate to their demands.

Nope not moved at all! I think they're just a bit overzealous with the verification. They rejected my drivers licence too for being too small a photo (you could still see all the details) so it's one of those sites that has to be perfect or they reject it when other sites accept.

@mulven it's a bingo site (bingo stars) probably should've said but I assume it's the same as casino sites. They only want the first page but what I sent in wasn't good enough because I covered the transactions with a bit of paper before I scanned it. I left my name, address, the date and all four corners fully visible.

If it's just the one site I won't bother with it but if the others start asking the same thing I suppose I'd have to send it in with all the transactions showing? Don't really feel happy to do that though.

Hope you get it sorted but it sounds like you could have been verified electronically if they had the right integration. Good luck!

Yeah i've come across sites like that, make you resubmit docs that are clearly legible many times. Probably worth just giving them a normal first page and continuing to do the censor thing until it causes you too many issues in a short period of time.

@mulven yeah am waiting to see if the other sites accept the docs, there's plenty to choose from so no need to be held hostage by that one! Luckily I'm not waiting on a withdrawal otherwise I might have to think twice. Doesn't bode well for what they might ask for after a big win either (not that I expect to win big but I can dream) I give these sites a miss out of principle, if they're gonna be difficult. I'm confident the others will accept, unless something has changed in the past year or so, which with the UKGC input who knows tbh.

I don't KYC myself anymore, but that's because of personal situation (financial).

But when I did in the old days I always cover the things I don't feel comfortable. I don't edit the photo though, I use an actual paper to cover. I think people don't accept edited photos, and that's quite fine for me I can understand why.

I suggest to ask the same? slips of paper to physically cover and then take photo.

For me this is another reason I do not play anymore, one thing sending in a scan / photo of your driving licence and or passport, plus a utility bill with my address on. However, I have drawn the line at providing an online casino my intimate financial information. So for me, the heightened RG regulations are as effective as being signed up with Gamstop :)

It sounds like thats what they did although they scanned it rather than taking a picture of it, perhaps it being scanned made it seem edited rather than physical paper

That's exactly what I did yes-bit of paper over the transactions. That's the extent of my "editing" skills lol. All they keep coming back saying is "The bank statement isn't the entire document. Please upload a new statement making sure it is of the 1st entire page showing your details unedited." And "We are only able to accept original documents un-altered I'm afraid." I've not altered it just hid the transactions because they're only supposed to want a document showing my address.

@mulven hmm maybe if I took a photo instead of scanning it they'd be more likely to accept it. Another site wants my driving licence and a selfie which I'm not keen on either as I hate taking selfies, but at least it's not my financial information!

Yeah, most sites are getting way stricter with verification. They just straight-up reject anything that looks edited, which is frustrating.

That’s one of the reasons I started playing on crypto sites more—no pointless verification hoops to jump through. Been playing on *scheissenslots* for a while now, and I’ve never had to send in random docs just to cash out. As long as my wallet matches, withdrawals go through smoothly. Feels way less intrusive compared to the nightmare of sending personal bank statements every time.

But yeah, if they’re insisting on the full first page, they probably won’t budge. Sucks, but seems to be the new normal for a lot of sites now

Ah ok ok yes, I guess I got confused because the bank said 'unedited' and 'unaltered'. English is not my first language but I'm 99% sure like you said, you didn't alter or edit anything, you are just hiding non-needed parts protecting your privacy as thats your right, and the bank has no right to see anything they don't need.

Yes try the photo I guess? soon the selfie and date with you holding the document is gonna be the norm I think :(

@SlamRoyale I was confused as well on what they actually want as they're not very clear about it. I mean I guess it could fall under editing? But it's a bit of a stretch. I've dreaded being asked for a selfie as I see others being asked for them and this is the first time for me. I hate having my photo taken! My driving licence is bad enough, but yeah it does seem to be asked for more and more. I suppose we should be happy they're being so diligent?

Really appreciate all the help, thank you!

I want to be happy too but the diligence in my experience can be selective. To be fair, banks are exactly the same, and some even have something what I heard is called crisis budget set aside to pay fines. They are only diligent when it is not financially positive to actually allow bad things to happen and get fined for it :)

Good luck still, it is something none of us can avoid with every new day sadly.
