im speechless, just to sick.

Our payments & fraud is handled by our license holder MT Securetrade and any decisions concerning these areas and Responsible gaming is handled by them. Once more information was provided, a new decision was taken.

Investigate what?

How can the casino be in position to know casino winnings might be his only option to pay off a mortgage or not?? Maybe that was his preferred way of paying it off that day.

Responsible Gambling should be about giving player the option of control, not estimate private matters and not (pretend like being) some kind of nanny state.
Under UKGC are we not supposed to gamble for profit or to pay off our bills are we not supposed to do it "for fun".
Remember VS last year saying that people were using battle weekends to supplement their income which is where the 2500xp came from.

The UKGC obligations have went a bit under my radar as I'm not from UK. I would say some basic aspects of gambling are repressed by such policies. Many people are gladly willing to take the risk of a certain period of life in debt, for the chance to coinflip a lifechanging casino win. I did myself in the past, and lost, with no regret.

Should be individuals decision, from my point of view.

First of all, sorry for my late reply here.

I can´t go into specific details about an individual account/case but I can share that this is now being solved.

Thanks for coming here as the rep Sami ....and for getting it resolved.

...not paying your credit card bill on time isn't a valid reason to withhold payment and it's not the casino's business to begin with.
I couldn't see anything in the OP to indicate he couldn't pay his credit card bill on time, just a reference in the chat that he was going to use his winnings to (partially?) pay it.

No issue with a casino raising flags for players that gamble on credit, and in fairness they should.
There was no mention at all that the OP was gambling on credit - simply that he used a CC bill for ID purposes.

I have a CC with a balance that is being paid off every month - due to an interest free period from Hardly Normal for my wonderful new PC. So if I had used that CC for ID purposes, I could be denied my winnings until the CC debit is paid (in another 3 years)? I don't think so.

This is very dangerous territory for all of us.

Nor did I say so, in fact I said the opposite.

A casino are however fully within their rights to close or temporarily close accounts, they can however not withhold winnings.

But this is policy at GIG casinos is it not? You don't want players with any debt or on benefits playing at your properties? Because this case is pretty much following what another MTST rep said earlier this year. Wonder how many other players GIG have witheld winnings from who don't post on forum.

Just to remind people what the MTST policy is

The Source of Wealth is mostly asked for UK players, in order to make sure there are players who're not playing if they're loaning funds, in debt, unemployed with no income, low salary, or on welfare.

This is something the UKGC has ruled which we need to follow in order to be able to operate in the United Kingdom.

and

The reason for closing accounts or limiting them due to, debt, loans, salary or similar is case by case based and SOW is something we use to find out if a person is in a financial position that has room for gambling or not.

So I wouldn't be sending bank statements, mortgage statements, credit card statements, payslips showing minimum wage or part time work, or anything showing you get working tax credit, child benefit etc to any of the companies if you want to keep your account.

I don't think anyone is disputing wether or not the player should be depositing or his account closed, it's that the casino or MT SecureTrade is holding the players money hostage until he pay an unrelated bill.

I know, which is directly related to what I posted, if the player has debts they don't want you playing there so there will be problems if you do. Just warning people who didn't see the original post :)

All this online casino stuff is truly getting out of hand, even if like me, you pay your CC's off IN FULL every month there is still a balance on them as it rolls over to the next statement so what would they insist on then?

In the UK savvy credit card users like myself, actually make money from having CC's in the form of cashback and no interest to pay when paid in full every month so its not even a debt at that point and for a casino to play GOD and hold funds to ransom is the craziest thing I have seen / heard of in a very long time! LOL

You need a perfect life with no debts and a high income, to be allowed to gamble.. How many on this forum qualify..? Except maybe the affiliates.

How long before we have to attend an in-person interview before we can start spinning bonanza on 20p, like applying for a mortgage?

I corrected that for you :)

Hi Sami, great to see this has been taken up by Wishmaker.
I am sure the big community that we have here appreciates your efforts.
And welcome to Casinomeister! :)

Unfortunately, there is a category of casinos like this one.
It's becoming more common for casinos to ask about your personal finances before paying you out. Hilarious.
Imagine sellers in other industries snooping into your bank statements, salary, mortgage, etc.

Even if it was any of their business, you would think they would ask *before* you deposited to see if you could afford to play, but that would make too much sense. They need to make sure they are only paying out to wealthy people - god forbid anyone with touchy finances collects a win!

If one can make a living, or even supplement their income on a regular basis, playing casino games they're either very lucky or know something most of us don't :D When I have a big withdrawal I might use it to buy something I was already eyeing but had to save up for a little longer if it wasn't for the extra bit of money but most of the time that withdrawal will just be recycled in deposits over a period of time.

A responsible protocol would be to ask these questions before accepting a player's deposit/s. But actioning this after a player wins, is highly irresponsible. Worse, it's rogue like behavior. Any casino who employees this underhanded practice, should be outed.

Fucking joke! If casino wants to look like they care about who they take money from/who plays at their casino, they ask stuff like this before they allow player to play... It seems to me that "responsible gaming" has become new trend to avoid/delaying paying players.
