If I Could Turn Back Time

No, no Cher vid :P
Oddly quiet on a Friday in the forum.
So a Q for those as in...

If you could go back, knowing what you know now, in slots/gaming, what would you change? Cash out those early freebs that dropped like mana? Change bets, or WD thresholds? Do that affy site? Take up knitting?

I never told anyone this because I was too embarrassed, but a long time ago. I won 50k, and I panicked. I thought the bank would reject it. Even though I was a member here, I wasn't really active at the time, just a newbie, so I only cashed 14k out in pieces, and played the rest. In hindsight, I would of been less shy and came out here for advice. :)

Well, just go out for a walk/picknick whatever, so as not to reverse any pending withdrawals...
yup
enough times, I'd said to self....self, you should have gone and walked the dogs, and youd have had a balance when you returned to enjoy or WD

Would the bank have rejected it? I will never see that win again to find out

Reverse withdrawals are the bane of my life

I think when all's said and done they're my Achilles' heel. Were I not such a money-grubbing desperado I might actually claim to have been UP on slots overall :eek2:

Oh and Starburst. I'd burn it with fire

id still always do in 10k (minus one dollar) increments if i won, knowing we've tax free gambling...but still one dollar less than 10k means i dont have to report it :laugh:

edit - knowing the bank neednt report it :P

Exactly! But then you would have to do it once a month. I think they would allow that, I'm not sure. When Linda won that huge amount, it was because it was OLG, the bank didn't bat an eye.

I remember when I got cancer and had to do that GoFund me, thinking back to that win, and thinking if only.......Even though it was about 3 years before then, if only........
nah, dont think that
do as i do; maybe you put aside that little bit of luck for a better slice down the road (money, health, w/e) :)

im not a tax attorney, but I'd suspect, while tax free earnings, there's still the matter of it come tax time
truly, I dunno
but for a 50 mil max win, id have an attorney being like 'right, how/where do i bury this shit to protect my ass' :D
Jazzie still my faith good things CAN come to good people :) I was so happy for her :)

Interesting question. I'd probably stay with sports betting only, even though I was sometimes doing my balls in on football and horses bets it was atleast at a slower pace. And knowing what I know now I would've massively upped my stakes on cycling bets as they're my bread and butter so to speak.
In more recent history I should've probably not upped my slots stakes after a great end of 2018, luckily I had a windfall then on Bonanza but after that the slots went awfully cold and I lost a big chunk doing 40-50c bets.

That being said, I still love slots but a bit more in moderation again. And to compare, I was heavily involved in the remote control cars hobby and that costed me atleast €4-5k in 2 years time. Due to health issues I sadly had to give that up and sold off my fleet and got back around €1500. Atleast with slots and sports bets I've had way more return but not more entertainment. In the end a hobby will always cost you money.

that's cool - nice to see other hobbies outside slots  - i cant much judge those as pay heavily for passions; we've all one :)

I also participate in alot of (free) fantasy cycling managers. Again due to my health I have alot of time to study the sport, during cycling season it takes up atleast 2 to 3 hours of my day watching races and reading interviews and analysis. Just like slots it's fun when you're winning or high up in the rankings but it sucks when you're not competing for the win :D

I was a huge comics nerd for a long time (oh, still a full-on nerd and geek) in my youth...still boxes upon boxes in storage - probably pay for someone's college fund one day.
I have...moderate talent in drawing and writing and even moved to the states at one point, but then realized, the landscape shifted, and my talent wasn't where it needed to be.
But I can appreciate hobbies require time, dedication...and funds :)

It's a good thing to have more than one hobby or passion. You could still draw comics for yourself if you enjoy it, nothing keeping you from doing that! :)

I was very happy for her too! But then begs the question, I even thought about it today. Health or money? No matter how much money you have, it can buy you everything, but health ( in most cases)

it, at the very least, removes a fair portion of added stress :)

What are the rules? Can we go back and bet the winning numbers of the lottery?
Go back in 2004 and bet Greece winning the euro cup?
How far back? Go back to college days for "the one that got away"? :p:oops:
 lol, it isnt a genie wish
so, no to the lotto or bets or changing missed opportunities with love
but if you had some sort of general knowledge - sure, maybe, how would you then have dated or approached women differently, or bet in different styles
but no to fund your bank acct today :P

I think I would go to 2003, cashout all of the 22k from Ladbrokes, pay all my debts and change jobs.
I used to play only Video Poker back then but I don't know if I would change that. More frequent cashouts, no reversal and joining CM of course! ;)

could never get into VP, found it so.......dull
i do like cards, spent many, many hrs in poker rooms (christ, amazing how i could place top 10 in 10K and fizzle out when down to 5, erg)

If I could turn back time I would be spending a lot more time with my mum even though I used to take her shopping every week and spend some weekends with her, I never realised that living on her own and not speaking much English was a very lonely life for her and now that she is eighty and has dementia I miss her so much :(

my old man is in a home; dementia and alzheimers, doesnt know nor recognize us
i could beat myself up for missing time

but best to remember that THEY, when able, likely did remember and cherish us and best not to think what if, but the good what was :)

I "learned" poker just to play VP. I would take my time, make odd choices, looking very slowly up the paytable until I see my win.....
Never did good in real poker. I always lose early, exactly when I have a good hand.

Yo, you got any of that "blackjack".
Hear thats some good shit.

I would probably not change all that much. Maybe not play bonanza as much as i did at the start of my "career"
Still like that slot tho, so theres that.
Im the lowest of lowrollers, so ive not really had any "happenings" with money one way or the other.
I have canceled and lost a wd here or there, but i dont really regret it since i would have made a deposit if i didnt cancel.

Depending on how far back im allowed to go i would treat my first girlfriend better. I thought i was hot stuff back then, and i did not treat her the way she deserved.
Looked her up the other day and shes married, has kids and all that. So all well that ends well i guess.

I still regularly make my first withdraw a small one (before I grab the rest as soon as it goes through), but for a different reason. Mine is to tell the gambling site that I'm a profitable player and will play up the rest & deposit more, to minimize the risk of them coming up with an excuse to take the money. Not that they probably would anyway, but I figure it can't hurt seeing as I don't urgently need money.

When I got into bed last night, I was thinking about that 50k win. It was on the downloaded casino and all microgame. It just kept building up on every game I played. Things have sure changed when they got rid of the downloads :(

@bebo67 , besides the huge win from OLG, I've had a 5 figure bank transfer from VS a couple of years ago that was not even questioned. I think cash deposits get a trigger to make the inquiry.

As gambling winnings are not taxable in Canada, no need to report on taxes, only on any interest earned.
Oh. Good to know! I know TD has locked my account a few times when I have bought numerous paysafes on line in one day.

I'm looking forward to seeing a land base casino after the 24th. I will put my money there for a bit, instead of online. It's been 9 years! Will be interesting to see how much the games have changed.

my hometown is getting one after years (Wasaga) to the delight and chagrin of locals
bummer for us, we'd have likely gotten 10X return on the house and large commercial property we sold directly across the road

I would dedicate 12 hours a day to taking advantage of the AWP emptiers I have come across over the years.

This time I'd save the dosh and not blow my "daily raise" on booze, fags and slots I know I simply cannot win on :o

I'd also take advantage of a similar scenario in the online world such as TDKR 'fault' and the MG 3 reel AWP's etc

You spent half the money on gambling, alcohol and wild women. The other half you wasted

I play both and I can honestly say landbased is again becoming my preferred option I went on Thursday night when I signed in I was given £15 with ZERO WAGERING and ZERO MAX BET restrictions.
That £15netted me £250 then I won a raffle to spin the wheel which they do on the hour between 23:59 and 06:00 the wheel has cash prizes £10-£500 my spin got me £75 with ZERO WAGERING.
So after getting the initial free £15 turning it into £250 then hitting the £75 I left at 05:30 hrs with £420 pure profit and a nights entertainment (o and I didn't have to supply any KYC bollocks).
Yet when I look at my online and high street casinos screen shots they speak for them selfs online is complete and utter tosh it's a struggle to despoit £50 and get that up to £100.

See that has been my issue. I have always gambled for entertainment, there has been a few times to try to make money, but that has never worked. I loved going to land base ones. It is pure entertainment there, bands, drinks, people etc. I would still be going if I hadn't let my daughter talk me into signing out for a year after that 6k win, because trust me, that was not my first big win there by far, but it was not anything she knew because lets face it. Your kids find out you have money, they are all over you. She just happen to be there at the time. Online has lost it's charm. I've wasted more money than not. I think the entertainment value has been long gone because as you say, it's hard to get over your bets, and it becomes the same ole, same ole.

I would stay away from megayways, as they really tricked my bank accounts balance. Not casino balance, no the bank account.

Im pretty sure on a 5 euro bet the max win on Bonanza and Diamond mine is 8000 Euros. The one who can prove the oppsite gets a free casino account (with budget that represents your source of wealth :) ).

On free spins, no clue, my best wins were in the main game....

So stop waiting for those free spins on megaways, its just a rip off :)

btw. Primal took most of my money for the past months. Play that slot at Royal Panda and you might be the lucky one :)

Something I've always wanted. I've often joked (dreamed, wished etc etc) with the wife saying "All I want is a free £25 deposit each and every day" - although I do stick to my limits and ultra rarely gone past them in 16 years, that sort of set up would save me a small fortune :p

Don't think I'd sleep for a week if I hit that sort of win :o :o
