This may have been covered but couldn't find anything specific about it so hence the new thread.

I've been reading... particularly niftys comments about kyc and providing info in regards to transactions etc.
Now all the time I've played over the years I have had to provide photo id... a recent bill ... and front and back of any cc if used. Fair enough.

But as someone ... nifty? mentioned ... what if you get all your bills online? And bank statements too. Don't know about anyone else but I do my bit for the environment. Go to the bank for a hard copy statement... and it looks exactly like the ones online!

And... not mentioning the casino in question... but I was asked a few months ago to provide a photo of me holding my passport up against my face. Now I know my pp photo really looks like a mug shot but isn't this taking things a bit far? I complied but reading everything today about verification got me wondering if anyone else has had to do this?
It's not a new pp and if these 3rd parties are doing their job then everything should have checked out.

BTW before anyone says anything lol... I'd deposited a decent amount at this group over the last couple of years... rarely played with any bonuses (I most often asked for them to be removed)... not made any huge bets ... and made small withdrawals.

I know what you mean, its never happened 2 me but quite a few people have been in same position as you and I believe one of them was asked to send their passport and documents to some place in Philippines for verification. I personally only play at casinos that are accredited here at CM 2 avoid these kind of situations hence I never experienced this

They only ever ask 4 dis if they suspect you are using someone else's details and ID's with their authorisation to play or in case of suspected fraud

This is actually quite simple, all the bills I have in my name are online including bank statements. Most of the bills you receive online are in PDF format. All you have to do is grab a program that will convert PDF into JPEG or the likes, most of these programs are free and I have mentioned them before mate but if you cannot find any throw me a pm and I will send you a list.

I have never been asked for this and if I was I would probably comply and then never play there again, I have never understood why they need this as they can pull all the information they need without it.. The same goes for those casinos that ask you to send verified copies of your I.D to a mailing address.

That's clearly what they were thinking but it certainly wasn't any wrong doing my end! Perhaps because I had deposited so many times over the years... and stupidly replayed all good wins... and then finally made a withdrawal :D

Cheers for that.

I thought it odd... but did comply. I felt like a real crim tho... cause the photo of me holding my photo looked worse than the photo

I had it that request a long time ago from a Rival. I had won on a ND bonus. At the time I thought it was because my government issued ID was not a passport (I don't have a driver's licence), and didn't have my address on it.

It was later a Rival rep said that this is only requested in cases of suspected fraud. There were 4 or 5 of us CM members that had this requested from this particular casino, all complied and all were paid.

It's not that hard to do, and frankly I prefer it to a request for Notarized documents which is costly.

I don't have a drivers license either as I have chronic epilepsy.... but my pp is good! I have good relations with this casino and it is accredited... but yeh I thought it odd at the time.

And no... I didn't gamble away heaps or make irregular deposits or bets at any time....

In my experience very few understand epilepsy.... or aspergers syndrome either!

nobody requested something like this before. perhaps, the growth of suspected fraud rings all over the world may have alerted the casino officials to make a stricter policy of reviewing documents. i only play with accredited casinos and if they requested for me to do this, then i will comply.

Well I must be a first then!! As said I didn't mind.... I thought back then it a regular thing to do!

It was only when nifty mentioned objecting to having to provide a copy of a web wallet transaction that I started to think about it.

I was asked to send a pic of myself holding up my passport to Casino Tropezia.

just a nuisance really but i took a wee bit of offence to it as i had never been asked before by any casino.

Many of these things have become routine, not necessarily a firm accusation that a player has been up to something. The problem is that PR departments try to pretend such requests are exceptional, so that when someone does receive one, they feel they have been branded a criminal, even though in the majority of cases this is not the case, and the casino pays out once the "exceptional" request has been complied with.

Casinos as an industry have refused to accept the "bleedin' obvious" that more and more service bills are online only, and if a player tells them they have everything online, the casino often doesn't accept that this is the situation of an innocent player, but that of a fraudster trying to justify why they don't want to comply with a request that is bound to get them busted.

Unofficially, printing off a PDF bill at home is the same as having one sent. There is no way the casino can tell the difference from a scan of an A4 sheet printed at home from a PDF and one printed and sent by a utility company (but never tell them, as they would then refuse the document or ask for a notarised copy).

However, a program to convert a PDF page to a JPEG would probably get spotted, and would very likely ring all sorts of alarm bells. Even in a JPEG, an expert can tell whether it's a scan or photo of a physical sheet of paper, or a direct conversion from PDF to JPEG.

Oddly enough, casinos DO accept that the only way to verify a Neteller account is to request a screenshot, yet refuse to accept that the only way to verify an online only bank or utility account is also a screenshot.
