I Surrender MG. And If I had a hat, I would take it off.

Players used to trust MG because software is fair.
Yes, it was fair, but not fair any longer.
I use my most recent experience to show you.
4 days, low rolling in one game, at one MG casino
bet size ($ 1 - 4 ).
Total withdraw = 0
I think most of you has noticed that
what happens in MG slots.
More and more near hit features, longer dry spell.
This is just my personal view, in 2008 I will stay out MG for a while.:)

That's a thousand dollar a day habit:eek:

Good luck... isn't it summer time over there? Swimming might be better than gambling right now :)

I think I am a bit drunk.

It is not the matter of money, it is the feeling of being cheated.
If I was robbed, I might feel better.
When I play online, I just want a bit enjoy time.
If I played 20 days and lost this money.
I will be happy.

but like this, no enjoyment but pain and regret

Well is not much far a way from the 95%
But let me tell you the difference.
In OZ, slots in pubs are set at 87%.
I used to play alot and I know
you play 10 - 15 times, you can win 1 time, if you get luck.
---------------------------------------------------------
I do not know this is fair or not.
I am not bad at math. if MG slot is 95% +
The total wage should be $119500 but not 44800.2
That means I can enjoy the game at least 6 - 7 more days.

Quit playing. You are supposed to quit when it is no longer fun. You are setting yourself up to be in trouble soon, i.e, a big gambling problem, chasing losses, etc. which you seem to be doing already.

Do yourself a favor, take a break, enjoy the new year, and come back when your head is clear.

take care,

mark

oyw7862 part of oz are you from?

I would recommend going to your local pub, rsl, club or casino.... you'd get better traction for that kind of bankroll :)

$5 hits on dragons, pharaohs, queen of the nile, indians pokies pays alot better for me then any online casino so far.

Funny thing is, at least with the NSW government, they allow the payout to be dropped to 85%, yet it still pays better for me then the online variants.

Also much easier to withdraw

Could you possibly tell us which slot you were playing?
I would be interested to know if it was a low or high variance one.
Thanks,
KK

thanks guys.

I lived in sydney.

As many people told me to quit gambling.

I have already quit high rolling MG, and put most of my savings on a BMW:lolup:.

I just feel regret these 6K are my whole year 's bank roll for 2008, and I lost it in few days:eek2:.

Now I have no spare money to play anyway:(.

I hope I will not sell my car soon.

Here is mine from Dash casino, Sure I could post more however there is no point. It's the same thing all over.

Sure, some of you will say stop gambling, whatever it really doesnt matter. The point is as soon as you go higher in wagering you get screwed!

Initially you will win, since you are low rolling, $2 - $5 wagering. You get "stung", and start $5 - $15 wolling and you are screwed!

I do get alot of features, however they do not give. i low wager the naked spins and hopefully get features on high wager, in the long run I get far more features on high than low with this, however the system is aware of it.

Happy new years - 2008 shall be no deposits for me online! Let's see how long I'll manage that! Wish me luck!

KIMSS: What is exactly your job?

Boy o boy...thats a huge load of money:eek:...I was just transfering money to my credit card. But this saves me from doing so.
Thank You!!!! (and this time this was meant serrious!!)

kimss, if you win low rolling stay low. Be patient and keep winning. My biggest problem, which I am slowly overcomming is getting impatient and wanting to win back losses in a hurry. If you are making small profits keep to the same strategy. Little numbers become big numbers eventually. The casinos want you to bet big and lose that is how they win.

I mainly play BlackJack, but I flutter on the slots for fun to, using profits from BJ.

oyw7862 why don't you go to star city casino? you will get far better play for your money then at any online casino... Why? Because land casinos take in far more action then any casino online due to the new anti-US laws.

If you're nearby, try out cabravale diggers, the pokies there always pay well for me.

I am just totally amazed. I have looked at this thread and my jaw drops each time. Don't get me wrong, I love to gamble, slots are my weakness. B & M or online. However, I kick myself if I lose $100 a week. The idea of losing thousands on just days absolutely astounds me. If you got it, you can spend it any way you want but DAMN!!! When do you say, "This slot is just not paying?" When I catch myself chasing losses, I get this visual picture of some little person rubbing his hands together going "Pick out a new car, Momma. Here she comes again!!!"

I have decided to put a halt to my playing for a while because the stress was just too much. When it is no longer fun or when you can't play for fun, then it is time to hang it up.

When do you say, "This slot is just not paying?"

If it was only that easy! When loosing say 1K, you are doing mostly $2 - $5 spins. Say you wager $100 for each machine, that would give you a minimum of 20 spins pr machine to get lucky, say you hit 15 loosing ones, and you win $250 which will help you how much? Then go for 15 more losing ones and you win $500. Loose on 15 more and you win 1K, however at this point you already deposited 2-3K.

Some days you get lucky and from a quick $100 you are suddenly fast up in $1500 - you start thinking, man - I lost 10K the last week, so If i up wager to $5 spinning now I might have a shot now... Bummer!

High rollers really see the losses... You who spins $100 a week on low doesn't really notice how bad the slots are.

Why do we continue, well, there comes the addiction, and why the hell not Visa has barred casinoes in total I do not understand. It would have saved me a lot of money! However - one cant push responsibility on others either, I know - so it's my fault!

I do however have a feeling that people like me are the ones the casinoes really make money from! We fill it up, you get those occational $100 to $500 wins, which in my eyes - infact - are worthless! And that is a big problem!

Surrender my a$$ Microgaming

It can pay off to look beyond the simple deposit & lose, and play the various promotions and tournaments.
I was doing just this and had a couple of bonus rounds that were OK, so I flipped my bet up - to find the scatters dried up, then down - to find it was still no longer putting in the scatters, then flipped it up again to get the scatters back and then this brilliant bonus round, several retriggers, one with 4 boxes, a 5 reindeer win, several other lesser 5 in a line wins, and not too many naked spins.
I then proceeded to blast the tournament and was 1st with only 15 minutes to go, which is another 3000 (bonus chips though).

Sadly, the scoreboard was removed so I cannot confirm my closing score (VERY naughty - Casino Action). I had better get my prize, no BS about the score "changing" in the dying 15 minutes.
I do NOT like it when casino remove all trace of a promotion as soon as it ends, denying players the chance to check how they did if scores are live, or simply to double check the terms and conditions in case they need to query anything.

I also had some decent bonus rounds on Ho Ho Ho at Music Hall, so I was able to add 1600 to the 2000 I removed from Challenge.

I even had a half decent hit on Snow Honeys, but given that it was 5 in a line during the 25 spins which should have a higher multiplier, I was disappointed it was only around 400 from a 3.60 bet, given the huge number of naked spins this slot gives out, despite being 20 lines.
(This is another thing that looks odd - how can slots with so many winlines still manage to give out so many naked spins as seen from the 5 and 9 line variety)

Is it because there are generally more winning symbols on 20-50 line slots that on the 9 line variety?

This one is even worse, and surely with real money ofcourse! I must add this on looser table! Chose 24 spins, that is 24 spins $50 worth...

I make better wins on $2.5 infact! I'm very happy I didn't choose 12 spins with 4 multiplier, since the 15 first was naked! This is kinda "cool" on Loaded don't you think... Ugh!

As only less than 7 days' records.
I did the analysis myself in Excel.
the result as attached.
In one game, 15000+ spin , can it explain sth? Only MG knows

Thunderstruck is a high variance slot and only 9 lines increases the variance compared to 25 lines slot. And 15000 spins sounds like a lot, but it really is not. I am certain it is not even a 2 sigma event you had there, but probably a 1 sigma event, which is of course still bad luck.

I did 1000 simulations each of 250K spins on Thunderstruck (playing 9 lines). And some of these still had only 91% payout.

See it here: Thunderstruck payout% simulation

I did 1000 simulations each of 250K spins on Thunderstruck (playing 9 lines). And some of these still had only 91% payout.

What is "funny" with this is alot of people thing 91% payout equals 91 euroes from 100. Saying you wagered 0.9 euro in your example, the losses would be astronomical!

A quick estimate and we are talking 20K in losses on one of those 91% payouts; :D

Simulation of 15000spin

I did an identical simulation with only 15000 spins. (1000 simulations). And again freespins are not counting towards the 15000 spins.

Actually I did a few simulations and I took the one with the best total payout% which was 1.02%! (So overall this was again a 'lucky' simulation.)

What you experienced is not that far below the norm, not even 1 sigma.

As you can see a few has payout as low as 62-63% and really many are below 80%. The best was only at 218%, which is actually not a very big win out of 1000 attemps. And it was quite identical for all the other simulations of this of course.
Slot players should be more aware of this fact. Winning big on slots (except progressives) is a myth with just 15000 spins and same bet size.

Slot sucks, period. Trust the math and look at the simulations and save your money. (I guess I would not make a very good casino affiliate....)

Payout% data from the 1000 spins included.

EDIT: Sorry hehe! The simulation was a 'special version of thunderstruck'. 4 scatters awarded 20 spins and 5 scatters awarded 25 spins. However I am too lazy to run it again and even this 100% slot clearly shows my point.
(102% avg. payout not possible on normal Thunderstruck for this many spins). It is because I was implementing support
for 'Isis' in the slot simulation I had changed Thunderstruck.

Yup! Before anything decides to try anything stupid with slots you can ask me to run a simulation and save you a few K$.

Well, it then becomes very hard to create the "perfect" tactic to wager at slots. If we assume it all is random (I won't go there now).

I would guess one tactic woul be something like, say we manage to spin 100 pretty much naked spins (that is, do not have any good wins at all). Then going for a reasonable wager where we are able to win some, how many spins would be "smart", and what x should we stop if hitting? I guess this is no good to do simulations on, unless you have really good time, or have a pretty smart simulator going there.

Typical:
1. If you manage 100 spins on 0.01 without any wins worth anything,
2. Do 35 spin on your wager, unless 1 single win is 10x wager.

That would be an interesting factor, sure we still need luck but we could sqeeze it a little.

Also, say a feature is at ~136 spins. The same would be interesting to know:

1. How many none-feature spins would I need to do before,
2. I have great odds of hitting feature in 30 spins.

Probably both simulations are worthless, but then again, if your wagering anyways it's always nice to belive you are trting to beat the house edge a little. (Oh, beat was a terrible word there, reduse was what i was looking for).

well zoozie before i became a regular on this forum and saw all those great winners shots on low rolling slots the only slots i played online were the mg progressives or some rtg progressives, are you now telling me i was doing it right all along?am i wasting time and money low rolling reg 9 and 20 line video slots?

It is hard to say what it right or wrong. If you are talking about long-time(even short time!) winner, slots are all bad. Progressives (even including the jackpot) generally
has a lower payout% than non-progressive slots. From my slot analyzer you can calculate payout for different progressives from the jackpot-size. But
chasing progressives is absolutely insane.

I have written a few posts about how I play slots. I never do it without a bonus and for MG casinos with clearplay I withdraw whenever the balance/bonus-left >5. I also wrote that I have probably lost a 2K$ on slots in the last 5 years, but if I had not played with bonuses it would have been around 17K$.

Thanks Zoozie,

I've recently suggested that the best use for a bonus would be to get a high percentage sign-up and only play progressive slots with it. Is this naive on my part?

I mean to suggest this to people who haven't used a lot of bonuses and aren't really interested in 'hunting' or whatever.

Can I use your tools to determine if this is a good idea or not and then explain it in a few simple terms? At least to myself? lol

I wouldnt say you are wrong. If you were going to have a flutter at some of the progressives anyway, getting huge sign-up bonuses will double or triple your chances of getting the JP. Of course, if you want to grind thru the WRs and get 2x or 3x your deposit back its an entirely different matter. So, just bet freely and let all hell loose. Zoozie advises us not to chase progressives which is correct as money will go down the drain very quickly. However, if you just want to make a quick hit at them, no harm trying.

Lojo, you are right this is +EV. But hitting a progressive is too rare as Chuchu says. So the risk is NOT worth it. A better approach is instead just to do some 22.5$/45$ spins on Thunderstruck etc. If you are playing with a 100% slot only bonus (and ignoring wagering requirement) you are basically playing a 95%*2=190% slot. And if you win big (just 50*bet etc.) you simply then just grind out the remaining wagering requirement at lowest bet. Some players do exactly this. And this is actually +EV. But this is still a long-shot, but much better than chasing progressives. If roulette etc. is allowed (but not counting as wager) it is even better to make a risky bet (1/12 or 1/18 etc.) with the full balance and then grind out the wager on slots at lowest bet. However the casinos does not like this 'strategy'. This is not that far from any optimal strategy if you have to complete the wagering requirement for the bonus on slots

Still I have enjoyed many 100 hours low rolling on slot and getting very close to break-even with 50%+ bonuses and this is what I prefer. And I also know this is not the optimal strategy. But this is my only gambling leak money-wise, but I play for the entertainment value.

If you want to make money play BJ/VP bonuses instead, however this is not as easy as just pressing the spin-button.

Thanks again (and all others)

Would you guys say it's a good bet for someone who is habituated to losing their deposits as long as they are on a disciplined gambling budget? ie never chase:eek2:

The bet size is fixed on the MG progressives (bet max to win) and there are occasional line wins.... This seems to give more chances per bonus for someone who deposits 100 units on average <the number of available 100%+ bonuses is not infinite> than the opportunities on high wager thunderstruck.

I'm probably not making much sense.. I guess I'll just do it now and then and hope to quit wayyy ahead :)

@petey... can't tell you how many times kingcashalot saved my session, but whenever I've tried to play it to win... pblllt

@kimss in reality aren't the chances the same on spin one as when it tips a million? It's just a math factor of whether its +/-ev isn't it? (then why's it take so long to fall? :)

bj/vp: I can work bj, vp bores me, and the bonuses for these games are too hard to come by for me and too much 'work'. :)

@chuchu yeah, it doubles or triple the chance to win, and the potential win is awesome... but, as you and Zoozie say I wouldn't count on it happening!

Progressive MG slots has around 90% payout (some even lower) if you ignore the jackpot. So I would rather play the 95% slots with a bonus. And playing fewer lines increases variance(fixed total bet-size) and therefore you chance for hitting a 100*bet-size hit etc. I rarely play more than 9 lines. A few exceptions are Medieval Moolah and Isis.

after reading this thread i must conclude that people are simply playing for the wrong reasons. i admit that my "playing" budget is six figures a year, for b&m casinos, so i can relate to big numbers. the way i see it though i dont care if that money dissapears. i know what to expect in the real world. figuring %'s and spins, and blah, blah, blah? do something else. play to enjoy not win. very simple. i do not deposit more than 100 bucks at a time online. why? not fun anymore. if i have to start questioning if i'm getting proper play then i already have my answer. do something else. like i said i am a player so i understand the game. the game has not changed. the arena has. it's one that i dont feel comfortable in. i also hope that some of you that play 10,15,20k a shot put some of that cash to good use. you want to get satisfaction from dumping some money? tons of great charities out there. beats the hell out of thunderstruck any day. the u.s. has limited/destroyed online gaming in my opinion. my solution? again, do something else. i'm confident that one day it will be run properly then we wont have to question our losses. that time is not now. if you dont have fun... stop. :)
