Green Zap wants you to believe that it's going to be the next PayPal. They want you to believe that they're backed by Visa. They want you to believe that Green Zap will be honored by eBay, online casinos, credit card companies, and every online vendor all over the world.
Let's use a bit of common sense, shall we?
If they're backed by big money and Visa, why not just advertise on TV, newspapers, and radio? Why the multi-level marketing bull****?
You sign up for Green Zap. They put $25 in your account. You post your promo code, and the next person signs up. That person gets $25, and you get a referral fee.....in your Green Zap account. Then that person posts his promo code.....and on and on and on ad nauseum.
Say 1 million people sign up through individual referrals and/or those umpteen Green Zap "affiliate" websites that have sprung up overnight. That's $25 MILLION dollars Green Zap is supposedly shelling out, and that doesn't even add on the referral fees. If Green Zap were legitimate, and had $25 mil....they wouldn't be resorting to MLM marketing.
Beyond that...There is NO gurantee any online vendor would accept Green Zap as a payment option. You pre-registrants haven't been told how many referrals you need in order to cash out your "free" money. And, how are you to receive this money? If no online vendor allows the use of Green Zap, your money ain't actually money. AND.....if the only way Green Zap says it will get you your money is to go through a banking account.....then you have to trust your account info to a scam outfit.....opening yourself up to theft.

Want proof that this is a scam? Green Zap is the brainchild of Damon Westmoreland, a convicted felon and con artist. Do a Google search on some of his other projects.....Jet99......ThePayLine....MyPaySystems ....Mazulah.......Caruba International.....MLM schemes that ripped off people's bank accounts and left a lot of people with nothing.

Just say "no" to Green Zap.
Im Glad I can help

Anyone remember X.com? (online bank) They got themselves in the same situation pretty much. They offered every new person signing up $20. They also allowed them a $300 (or around there) line of credit without doing a credit check on each customer. Needless to say this is the main reason they were going under.....until Paypal bought them out and took over. The only difference in this situation is they didn't use MLM to get the word out.

To me, 99% of MLM schemes are just that..."schemes". No good will come out of it. If they've teamed up with Ebay to accept payments if/when they do open for business, why is there no mention of it on ebay? Strange.

Hey Bryan, might want to move this to wild cards...not really a casino discussion :)

I disagree. I've seen this mentioned on a few casino-related sites, so I think a warning here where it'll be read/discussed is much better than having it in Wild Cards. Thanks for the heads-up, BingoT!

The editorial BingoT has posted was written by me. Why is it whenever I write something that's half-way useful and copied to a bunch of other places nobody mentions my name? Or asks if they can copy it to begin with?

There. I'm over it. ;)

Anyway, you'll notice those links don't work due to the copy and paste, so here they are....

First, I thought the information was extremely valuable to get out.
Second, it was posted on public forums.
Third, you should be given credit for doing the research and posting the original information.
Fourth, THANK YOU!!! :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy

lmao....

LA JOLLA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 11, 2005--GreenZap.com, a consumer-based online buying and spending account service, launched its site this week with a pre-registration phase. GreenZap, the new dot com-er on the block, aims to compete directly with big dog "PayPal," eBay's online payment processor.[/qoute]

Are they even aware of the fact that ebay OWNS paypal?

None of those links work btw.
I fixed them. They work.
Except for the first one i think but there is nothing regarding the issue in it that i found.
The first set of links has to do with Damon Westmoreland's other dubious "businesses" and how they've screwed people over. You need to search a bit.
The second set of links has to do with Green Zap and people's perception of it as a SCAM.

And suzecat....thanks ;)

Sorry Suzecat

WOW. You brought back some memories. I got an X.com t-shirt somewhere. They were started by some bank out west, weren't they?

OK....I've received a few messages today at my forum...Seems there are some people who think I'm some kind of a joke for daring to want to be acknowledged as the author of the Green Zap editorial at the beginning of this thread (originally posted at The OPU). Some of the words used in those messages were "needy", "sad", and my favorite, "pathetic".
What's really "sad" is the literally dozens of messages and emails I've received from the Green Zap faithful who have called me all sorts of names I wouldn't print here.
Proves the rule, I suppose...no good deed goes unpunished. Add to that...Ask for due credit, get ridiculed.

It's all good in the end....as long as people think twice before joining GreenZap.

Bingo: I think the criticism came from Swampwitch (not me). I was just apologizing earlier for not mentioning the name of the original poster (Swampwitch). I posted the info about Greenzap for the same reasons you did, just want to give everyone a heads up so they don't get screwed. :notworthy

1. Greenzap is obviously a scam.
2. He did say he found it, so it's not like he was claiming the work. However, this wasn't exactly made very obvious in the original post and I think he has showed contrition.

One article I wrote ended up in a Philadelphia newspaper under some other guys name. It was quite interesting to see your work plagerized like that....and the newspaper never did contact me to apologize.

Im very sorry swampwitch

Greenzap Crap

I can see why you would get criticized Swampwitch. You've made this more about you than about the information. We get it, you wrote it. Congratulations.

I'm not pretending to be brilliant here, but I thought this smelled bad the first time I saw it posted. I figured this was an email gathering tool. They could get millions of email addresses to sell by June. I just got rid of a bunch of spammers, not in the market for more. The casinos keep my delete key busy enough as it is. It took me less than a minute to Google "Greenzap" and find the information about this BTW. Seems like some people will do anything for $1 (or in this case $25 -- oh wow) without even doing their homework.

I think so....can't remember that far back...lol

I could only find one archived article about it....seems the wayback machine doesn't have it.
