Hey everyone! First time posting on the forum.

I’m a casino games developer with experience in designing and integrating various gambling games, including lottery, scratch cards, and online casino content. Whether it’s RNG mechanics, game math, or game design, I’ve been involved in multiple aspects of the industry as i have a legit company (

) that builds and provides games for the industry.

If you’ve ever wondered how casino games are built, how odds are calculated, or what goes on behind the scenes in iGaming development, feel free to ask! Happy to share insights and answer any questions you might have.

Hi Francisco, I have allowed this thread as I think the community would appreciate the insights of a casino games developer. Similar threads have been very popular and have broadened the understanding of slots and casino games for many members.

However, if I notice any funny business, like shilling, contacting members privately, running down competitors, or anything else of that nature then this thread will very quickly be shut down. I hope that is clear.

Welcome to you from Argentina!! My big question. Has anyone every tried to build a slot with quests? Like a sort of big game where you can complete quests, do sidequests, choose sides, choose 'characters'. etc.

Or is it just that slot devs are not like game devs?

That’s a great question! There have been some attempts at adding more game-like elements to slots, but it's not the industry standard. Most slot games focus on quick, repetitive gameplay loops optimized for engagement and monetization rather than deep, story-driven mechanics.

Developers from the video game industry tend to focus on skill-based mechanics, while slot devs are working within strict gambling frameworks where outcomes must be based on chance.

We built a game where you can choose characters:

, but not still somemthing more like quests or that kind of challenges. It did not launch officially yet but we also see there is a space there to position games.

It would be really interesting to explore the idea a little more.

Why is it when a new game gets rolled out you play it and the next day it seems to be altered. I'm a guy that likes to find a rhythm with timing and manipulate the reels. I've also had an experience where I had it down perfectly and was hitting bonus consistently and it seemed to be altered while I was playing to the point where I couldn't even manipulate reels at all. They always blame internet connection. I've got a list of games that ran a certain way and now they are barely even playable unless you want to lose everything. Diamonds and dragons for example I hit the blackout 4000X WAGER come back the next day the button is like shut off you can hit it but afterwards it's just random. Obviously most games are random but this game is different then others it's not even stopping reels more trying to place your drops. I complained got nowhere then wrote a bad review and surprise they fixed it but it still is weird now when I start any game It gets really glitchy at the start seems fishy to me. Any thoughts?

Thank you :)

Personally, I was a gamer before I was a gambler lol and I know some games I played for 1000s of hours just because of the story and the quests. Even when I finished the game I would replay to find ALL the quests.

To be 100% honest most of them were not even skill, just time. As in, the more you play, the more you collect, the more you unlock etc etc. People would play 1000s of hours to get every quest completed or collectible. Slots is missing a big psychology of gameplay here :)

I’ve just had four features on Fishin frenzy at 40p in the space of ten minutes. One four scatters so 45 spins in total. I made less than a tenner. I counted four fisherman wilds drop down, two of them with no fish. That’s one every 11 spins.

How do developers get away with it? It’s incredibly difficult usually to hit a feature game, it’s not unheard of for me to have 200 spins and spend £100 before I hit three scatters. To then win 80 pence on a feature.

Why is it allowed? Should there be some kind of guaranteed win on these features? For example the big bass games always seem to pay AT LEAST 10x.

I challenge your RNG, I can beat it .

Hello.
Why don't game developers use numerical values to measure volatility? Instead of providing specific standard deviation or variance figures, they typically just label games as high volatility, low volatility, or medium volatility...

They used to years ago, well some did. You used to get a volatility coefficient of variation or whatever they called it, a number like 0.00137 if I recall correctly.

Crypto-only casinos still do it, but they're a dying breed. Here is what it looks like (you can even customize.)

maybe the code is unstable, other than that i cannot think of alternatives to be honest, they must be fixing some things and breaking others without noticing. can you share the list of games so i can take a look? it intrigues me

any opinion on what would you love to see on scratchcards from slots users would be really appreciate. we are building the games for you guys

Thank you :)

that is a really good feedback. i really appreciate it. we will for sure add some of it to our scratchcards, as for now we are focused on that

It depends on the casino to be honest. depends on the provider but there are many parameters that can be adjusted that will change the game behaviour, for example rtp and game configs for bonus, feature, etc. which casino are you using?

because it is simpler for the average joe, thats why, not more than that. there are not that many technical / knowledgable people. they just dont care

Thanks for the reply. It doesn’t sound very convincing, to be honest. I agree that people tend to oversimplify things, but I don’t think it’s that hard to also include a numerical value for those who care.

I honestly don’t understand who first thought it made sense to describe a number using an adjective. Imagine if, during a job interview, someone offered you a “high salary” instead of giving you an actual number.

What happened to originality, why if one game does 3 pots so they all start doing it?

Surely as a developer you should want to be original not just "oh look they made a game with 3 pots or fishing I must do it".

It is so annoying when you open a new game and see they have just copied the theme of another.

I know a ton of people despise the 3 pot slot genre, but to be honest, I haven't seen many games being created with this design online. I mean, yeah there's a few.. but no where near the amount that's being currently peddled in brick & mortar casinos. As a side note, the old ladies with the long cigarettes that touch and pound on the screen for luck seem to gravitate towards those 3 pot slots and appear to enjoy them.

Oh yes there are I suggest you go through the new games over the last month and they are everywhere in various guises.

Look again, there are dozens of them!

I did just this and you're right. I counted at least 11 of them. I think Pragmatic made like 3 different variations of the 3 pot style mechanic in the past month. Haha

I just usually stick to my top 15 slots and very rarely stray away from them.

Thanks for the responses and look forward to your first developed scratchcards. How will they look different? Actually never done an online scratch before. They're not really popular in Asia. We have a lottery type scratchcard, the lottery is the main event, and there's a small attachment to it you scratch but the biggest prize is a car. Nobody takes it seriously, just to 'win' the price of the ticket back (which is what they'll offer you if you redeem the prize).

Can you share some example? sounds really interesting. What do you mean by 'lottery scratchcard' ? like lottery themed? ours look like this now:

this is just a demo. not in production yet.
they will look really similar to slots in terms of animations, they will have a character that makes faces when you scratch, and more features similar to slots.
any input from a player will be appreciated of course, as it will improve the game.

This is an example. I was referring to a real life lottery.

So on the left is the main lottery ticket with the big jackpot on the draw. On the right is a scratch card to also win instant prizes.

You kinda buying a 2-in-1 scratch + lottery.

We will take a look into it and get back to you. Do you know some company that can be interest in such digitalized product?

Wouldn't know, sorry! But if you're already developing a scratchcard, why not something like this? Asian players would be familiar with the concept IRL
