Pretty Laughable:

Game You Should Be Playing: Blackjack
With our new Gold Series Blackjack games, you have a great chance of winning. Give Gold Series Vegas Strip, Atlantic City, European and Vegas Downtown a try.
The object of Blackjack is to get a total value of cards as close to 21 as possible without going over and beat the dealer's total. Numbered cards are worth their face value. Face cards - Kings, Queens and Jacks - are each worth 10. Aces are worth either 1 or 11, whichever is better in the circumstances.
Here are some Blackjack tips to get you going:
Remember that you need to beat the dealer to win. Players often forget this and concentrate on getting 21 watch the dealer's hand as well as yours.
Always take a card on 16 or lower because you can't win unless the dealer goes bust.
Always split aces.
Never split face cards, 10's or 5's

And this casino is accredited??? :what:

Elementary BJ rules? My son knew more than that as a 5 year old. Actually, the tip given ie drawing a card on 16 or lower is poor advice but the statement is factually correct although it should be 17 instead of 16.

Yes, but this is definately more than a mere typo; given their explanation.

If it was just a typo and meant to be 17, the explanation would be wrong.

In all, they're trying to push "You need to get 17+ no matter what the dealer's card is, because you will only win if the dealer busts." Instead of the correct logic that the dealer has a high probability of busting if you don't hit.

I could only imagine what this brings the HA to for players that actually take this advice.

Dunno about the actual HA in this instance. However, if you took their advice to the letter, Maple could offer you a 100% BJ bonus with 6x WRs and my bet is that you are likely to get busted long before reaching it.

Sun Vegas too.

Hi Guys,

Please let me know if this was found anywhere on our site, or if it is was from our newsletter.

As far as I know, it was only in the newsletter, but if it's anywhere else, we need to change it.

Best Regards
Schalk

I didn't see it on Maple's site, so it must be in a newsletter.

Kind of interesting, I googled "Always take a card on 16 or lower", and came up with
You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.
.

Is Sun Vegas related in any way?

Uhmmm....
Always take a card on 17 or lower because you can't win unless the dealer goes bust.

That's the same exact bad advice that was given out before written in a different form.

Also:

The dealer must follow a set of rules regardless of position. So, even if he has a winning hand with a total of 17, he still has to take another card and may bust.

This is untrue in AC blackjack and some other flavors where the dealer stays on all 17's.

We're really not a$$holes, but it's definately wrong for a casino to give such bad advice that greatly increases the HA over a player.

Always hitting on 17 or lower is even worse advice.

VPL, the people who write those tips may want to take a look at wizardofodds for some correct strategy advice.

cheers

Or why not just link the user to the wizard's BJ page instead of the casino showing ignorance (I hope that's the case) of correct BJ strategy? That would set better in the players eyes. As it is now, once they find out they've been given horrible advice, the casino's reputation would go down the toilet in their view. "They gave me advice that guaranteed me to lose! Like I'll ever play there again and will tell all my friends about it".

Actually I got the same BJ 'advice' in newsletter from Crazy Vegas Casino just yesterday, so it is not fixed yet.

It is truely amazing that you can run a casino with no knowledge about the games or control over what it is sent to customers. But since it also happened to 32Red, I guess that is part of the industry.

Maybes me want to say a few words about casino spam mail.
They seem to fall in three categories:

1. Weekly spam with the SAME content every week. Maybe a stupid competition where top 10 wagers or top 10
loosers (normally the same) wins 100$ to 500$ (probably not covering the cost of winning). Or a competition where 10 lucky depositors wins. I do not find any of these two promotions interesting and it is always the same.
They then end with a quiz, jokes or stupid(sometings wrong) tips to some games. (No offence to the casinomeister newsletter of course :notworthy )

2. Weekly spam with some content.
A good example is Roxy's.
In each mail you can read more about the comming MG games, this is actually my best source for that. And it shows your bonus deposit level and current loyalty points. It has some personalized content.

3. Only spam mail when they are some some real news or promotions.
Examples are:
32Red
Ladbrokes
Intercasino
(And some RTG casinos with bonus codes in mail)
