OK - for those wanting to know how my particular issue is being handled by BoDog - so far.

I won and cashed out 20,000.00 at BoDog.

In February.

BoDog sent checks regularly in increments of 3000.00 every 5 days or so via FedEx.

The first check I put in the bank - and was called later by the bank to be told that it was fraudulent. And that it was a Canadian Bank, etc. The called the bank itself who could not or would not identify the account - but my bank REFUSED to call the number printed on the check - because they say that whoever answered the phone would have told them that it would cash - and was probably some sort of scam.

I pressed the issue - because I know BoDog is a trust worthy place.

They then placed my account on a HOLD status - FOR 45 days.

Today the first check cleared - and my account was reopened.

I was told that if I wanted to put the other checks in it would be another 45 - 90 hold for each of the checks with my account being put on hold AGAIN.

I called BoDog today and asked that they make a stop payment on the remainder checks and to send the rest of the money via Western Union.

I have asked that I NOT pay any fees - due to the fact that it is NOT my fault that their checks appear fraudulent.

Do you think I am unfair in asking them to absorb the fees?

I don't want my bank account to be closed down again this did cause a hardship on me and my family but one that I managed to handle.

I always believed the checks were fine however - the banking system here in Alaska does not.

So am I far out of my realm asking them to do this? And should they in your opinion do this?

Keep in mind I won this amount in February.

Wagerwitch,

Personally I think that after all the problems Bodog has had, trying to cash a check from them would be next to impossible. I don't know why they would even want to send a check.

I don't think you are out of line at all and I think that they should absorb the WU fees.

Congrats on your win and sure do hope all works out.

Hiya: First Congrads on the Win.,.

I have gotten 7 checks from Bodog within the last few months. I use BOA, and every check cleared on the spot. It is your Bank that you need to change. When they said, "This is from Canada", WTF Is that all about?

Normally they would only send money to you thru Western Union, if you used western union to deposit the funds with. You can always have Bodog send the money back to e wallet, or what ever way you funded the account, instead of a check.

Hell, Even Netellr checks, "used to be" drawn from a bank in Chicago, but were sent from Canada also. Maybe your bank just hates Canada......

Hiya, again, hehehe: To follow up about your bank. It is illegal for any US Bank to accept funds that came from Internet Gambling. When the stupid law was passed a few years ago, the Banks said, "Yes, But how are we suppose to Know" where the money came from? I mean, Poker Stars, as example, does not send out checks that say,

Poker Stars
Gambling winning ck payout dept.
123abc st
n pole, zxvcn8900

So, some banks may be more adhearent to trying to enfore this than others. I am sure, here in Vegas, with the vast array of people here from all over the world, that the Banks see out of country checks all the time. I am sure in other area's they do not.

Kind of like buying something with a $100 bill. Go to a large place, or Casino and they take it, and give you your change. Go to a small town, to a smaller place, and they will check it using every means known to man to see if it is real or not..

again congrats on the win , my question is money wired into your bank a
problem? thats one of my methods of course bodog needs a processor
i would think that they should have one being there size

one other thing i keep a separate bank/checking account in a different
institution and address from the nest egg /house hold money for this reason
should a problem arise

once again enjoy your win

Thank you guys - my issue, unfortunately stems from PROBABLY the fact that I live where I live...

Anyhow - because I used c C to pay they cannot return it to the C c and they gave me only the option of CHECK.

The first time the bank didn't clear the check - they had put the amount in my account and then debited the amount again - saying it was fraudulent -

THEY HAD SPOKEN TO THE BANK THAT THE CHECK WAS DRAWN ON WHO STATED THAT THE ACCOUNT DOES NOT EXIST.

Anyhow - I told them to process it anyway... Which caused this rigamarole.

I tried giving BoDog my routing number - but they said they can only send funds to a SWIFT code unfortunately... My bank doesn't have one of those.

But it strikes me as odd.

Anyhow --- We shall see what happens.

The checks unfortunately to ME --- are NOT GOOD.

Perhaps it is BoDog - Perhaps it is my bank.... But it is DEFINITELY the check.

They are thin, perforated, and look very different than most checks you see.

BY THE WAY...

I do want to NOTE here I am NOT upset with BoDog...

(Ok - a little upset - but not really, if you know what I mean.)

I really just want to know if you guys think I am out of line asking them to eat the Fees associated??

Because of this check - and my account closure/hold - I will say it DID cause a hardship not one that killed me or anything - but one that made a couple of days go by without having 20 bucks in my pocket - and I couldn't buy things I wanted to or buy anything "extra" at all - it was beyond "budgeting" but less than starvation, if you know what I mean. (Sounds stupid to some, I am sure - but not to me).

I will say -------- I think they should find a way to process money to the people EVEN IF IT MEANS BUYiNG CASHIER'S CHECKs from banks.

Or figuring out how to route the money ------ without a swift code.

So with my only options as WU -- which I did NOT deposit by -- or check/routing....

Do you think that I am wrong to ask them to do this - and for them to eat the fees?

I think that's the real question.

AGAIN = this is NOT a COMPLAINT with BODOG ---- I want that clearly specified - they are a good casino.

THis is a combination of issues which are out of their and my control.

You know...

An IDEA just came to me...
Since I paid by pre-paid CC --- why don't they just send me a PRE-pAID CC filled up with the funds? Or several of them?

I mean - seriously - why not?

I might even play with them back at the casino?

Just thought I'd drop a note. I also bank with a small local bank in California. My bank told me several years ago that their routing code is also their swift code. It has always worked for me, maybe for you too. Good Luck

BoDog refuses to see my bank's routing code as a swift code.

Like I said - It's been since February.

AGGGGG. LOL!

I'm willing to try anything - but I don't want my account closed down again.

unless there from a rouge nation and i don't think they are money wired in is good to go ,they need to employ a processor like the rest of the casino's do i m o

PS I'm not trying to flame any thing but i get money wires at least 4 times a month from gaming , plus other personal things :confused:

Makes me wonder... Rocky - thanks or that info.

because of the size of the $$$ winnings ,they owe you a bit more hand holding
IMO ,
i would ask them for there bank info and wire them 10. dollars to establish the link ,then that should end any confusion my .02 cents :)

PS academically speaking only [ obviously there aware of the banking regs so they would give you a acceptable account #]

A couple of years ago I needed the Swift Code to have money wired to me and when I called my bank, I also got the tap dance of "we don't have that". What it took to get the Swift Code number was to call the corporate number of the bank and talk to somewhere there . I had the number in just a couple of minutes.

I don't know if the local branches aren't permitted to give out that information, but it is part of your banking process and a Swift Code should exist :>) This would depend , probably , on whether your bank was one of the rare home grown ones or part of a major bank group, which mine is.

All USA banks have a SWIFT code - if they want to allow their customers to be able to receive international wires.

GoWild requested both my bank's SWIFT code and routing number, and I received both within 5 minutes of reaching someone at my bank - on a SUNDAY...and at a supermarket branch..lol

If they don't want to give you this code, then tell them you want to speak to their supervisor, or someone that actually knows what they're doing. :)

It's not like these SWIFT codes are super-secret-private. More often than not, you can find your bank's code via Google; but just be sure to check it against a couple of sources to make sure it's the right one for that particular bank. They should all be the same, no matter which branch you use.

This problem is not confined to the US. I have had several instances where Neteller could not make a transfer to my CAHOOT current account (an "online only" bank). I gave them the SORT code, and ACCOUNT number, but Neteller's bank INSISTED it was WRONG, and repeatedly changed it to the SORT code for CREDIT CARDS. CAHOOT had to redirect the payment each time to the CORRECT area of banking. This shows that the BANKS THEMSELVES sometimes don't know what they are doing, something that has been made CRYSTAL clear over the last couple of years:rolleyes:

It is more likely that a bank will know it's OWN code, yet it can be impossible to convince the bank at the other end of this.

The suspicion about the cheque is probably based on it "looks wrong", and this is confirmed when the bank at the other end says the account does not even exist. The 45 day hold covers the receiving bank in case the bank the check is drawn on subsequently declines it. Although checks take 3 days to "clear", the other bank has up to at least THIRTY days in which to decline it, and I suspect the extra 45 days is a safety margin.
It seems that US banks, especially the smaller ones, are VERY suspicious, and maybe the long term solution is to get a separate account for receiving gambling payouts, be they check or wire transfer, and try to use the biggest banking group you can get your hands on, and perhaps transfer the money into your "normal" bank yourself, maybe using an online banking service.
The alternative seems to be a real struggle each time you receive a withdrawal.

The issue of accounts not existing when checks are presented can also be down to the need to stay one step ahead, leading to checks being in the post when a processor gets it's account "rumbled", and has to open a new one. There are also the rogue processors, who are ripping off the casinos, taking the payments intended for players, paying a few, and once the casino starts to trust them with larger amounts of money, they "do a runner" with it rather than pay it out to players.

OK - I'm going to PM you the name of my bank and if you can find it - I WILL be grateful!

Good Advice guys

Some banks also use an IBAN number instead of a SWIFT code.

Another way might be to open an account with an online bank and have the funds sent there, and then transfer them to your main account. I refuse to receive cheques as my bank has a 60 day clearing period and wont even call the other bank to get a special clearance.

I must say your bank seems pretty clueless too, but I also think the onus is on Bodog to get you paid in a fast manner that is convenient to YOU..and I think Western Union or Prepaid Visas could be a good compromise.

Its not your problem that you cant use Neteller etc and if Bodog wants to keep getting your deposits they need to find a better solution IMO.

Actually no, IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is an international format of your bank account number, it is unique to your account. IBAN is not used in the US.

SWIFT codes, also known as BIC codes (Bank Identifier Code), identifies the bank to which money is wired. Not all banks have their own SWIFT codes, but they may cooperate with another bank and you may be instructed to use their code. One of my banks, an internet bank with no b&m branches, does not have a SWIFT code. Instead, international wires a routed through a cooperating major bank and I have to use their SWIFT code to receive wires to that bank.

Thanks guys...

Check this out...

BODOG called yesterday --- and wanted to CALL MY BANK.

ER - NO.

In fact - HELL FREAKING NO.

Like my bank will believe anyone calling them - anyway.

I told them no - but they seemed persistent - and appear to be trying to tell me that my checks are good - and too bad...

So far, that's the general drift I am getting from them.

What do you think guys?

Should I turn into a raving lunatic at this point?

They still haven't advised how they were going to handle this. I realize it was Easter Weekend - but I sent them the information Thursday o last week - only to be told - in a followup phone call last night that I MADE to them - that they were unable to read the TIFF images - so I had to convert the images to JPEG for them...

AND --- then - I asked why I hadn't gotten an email they said they had sent several asking for a re'send... hmmmmm No email here - not in spam folder, etc.

I'm starting to get a wee bit upset.

To me - the checks are no good.

It could be the bank's issue - Idon't know - but the checks don't work for me.

So - I'm patiently waiting.

I won a major jackpot and had them wire the amount to my bank. Took 3-5 days. Once the usual paperwork is sent to the casino, such as utility bill, copy of driver's licence, etc. the wire went fast... using a SWIFT number or in my Case an IBAN number thru an international bank.
I would think a certified bank draft would be better than a check if that is the only way to go.
Switching to a bank that has international ties would probably help as well... local banks are for local people!

I would think a certified bank draft would be better than a check if that is the only way to go.

If all banks are like mine, there is very little, if any, difference between them and regular (company) checks. I received a certified check once, and expected for my bank to cash it right there on the spot...and then found out that they would hold it just as long as they would hold any other check; certified or not.

Agreed, that is why wire is faster. Banks only trust banks, not us peasants!
