How are less-reputable casinos getting their "customers"?

The reputable online casinos usually advertise here on Casinomeister, Winner Online, and other casino websites. But among the thousands of other online casinos, how are they getting their customers? Search engines have restricted if not outright banned advertising or even presenting links to online casinos. Also, even with me showing an interest in online gambling, I don't really get that much spam email from online casinos I've never heard of.

Perhaps the 2,000 to 3,000 estimated online casinos is an old figure from several years past and now it is less than 500 online casinos. I just don't see how the rest of the "non-reputable" online casinos can stay financially afloat just ripping off 10 or 20 players unless the players are rich AND stupid to continue to bet large amounts.

I'd say most people that gamble, don't even know that watchdog sites as this who help people in problems with online casinos exist.
And unfortunately, some affiliates spam your mailbox with offers that sound tempting but in fact, are pure crap...
Just my 2cents...

Spam e-mails, adware, less well known affiliates, random google searches etc. etc. Also keep in mind that many of the "different" casinos are in fact just different websites that lead to the same rogue casino.

What tencardcharlie said...

and I know this may come as a shock to some, but google is not the only search engine in the world...

As a matter of fact right now google is not even the "Best" search engine, they allow way too much spam in their listings.

I have never used google as a search engine , just because I never liked thier setup. My favorite was ask jeeves which now is ask.com. I think that is THE BEST ever out there and beeen using it for years, and thats how I found this site ! :D

I haven't used ask.com in years, but I just checked it out and it looks like their layout now is an almost exact copy of google's.

If I could find the thread I'd post it, but, CM passed a comment that is spot on here too.

It's not just newbies who fill the pockets of these rogue outfits, it's seasoned gamblers who know they arew rogues but are lured by the high bonuses. Some people simply can't look past dropping $50 and getting $400 bucks bonus cash. They probably figure if they don't pay I've only lost $50 if they do then I'm ahead.

I can't rightly say as I'm not one to chase bonuses, but, I'd say that's how these casino on the side of caution also obtain a cash flow.

This is probably the most logical explanation. I'll take bonuses if they're worth it, but only up to a limit. Any place that offers a 1600% or 2000% bonus sure as hell isn't convincing me that they run a successful operation.

I remember getting a spam email a couple months ago from Cirrus or Carnival or some other Crappy Cpays Casino who was offering a bonus of $666.

Did they actually think that would be a good selling point? Have they lost their friggin minds?

I got that one also, that was pretty much my thoughts too.

If you accepted that particual bonus, hidden deep within the the small print of the bonus terms, your soul became the property of the devil...

That's actually from the same group that was spamming for CP and now, CPays.

How to gain reputation

The people still trust search engines like google, yahoo.. and PPCs like findwhat and more.
When they search for "best online casino" and find on top: "999999.com - Play best online casino and get $999999 bonus", they think it's the best out of the 2000+ possible choices.

I think Trezz is right about the bonus offers that can lure in even a seasoned gambler. Although I do not consider myself a seasoned gambler, I do consider myself to be an "Aware" gambler since I have started reading this forum which has a wealth of information and personal experiences.

With that said, even I give those emails I get from some of the casinos that offer the high bonus a second look even though I know that they have their own set of problems.

The following is just a rant not related directly to this thread

Case on point: Before I signed up for this forum and I was new to online gambling, I joined Cool Cat Casino made a small deposit, took a bonus and lost it within a few minutes. I didn't get mad, heck it was fun while it lasted and I left it at that. Then a few weeks ago I get a welcome back email since I had not deposited since the first time and it had a nice sized bonus plus a free chip for 30 dollars.

I really need to thank them though for at least offering the free chip with the other offer because I may have accepted the bonus instead of just deciding to go on and play out the free chip. I signed on, redeemed the free chip, get crazy lucky and sit there and play it up to $215 knowing that it was useless to keep playing it since they limit the cashout of a free chip to either 1X or 2X the value (hard to tell which limit is set on this free chip because of the way their terms are written) So I decide to cash it out and I need to thank them again for having a wacked cashout policy or I know I would have deposited again to accept the other offer and I know I would have ended up giving them back the money but since I had a withdrawal request pending I could not deposit again to accept the other bonus.

I even went so far as to contact the CS there and asked how I could deposit and keep playing and they told me I would have to wait for the free chip payout to go through then I could deposit and continue to play. Needless to say that was last month on the 23rd and the withdrawal request is still pending 16 days later.

End of Rant lol :).
