Struggling to see anything that will beat Imphal in the 2.55, nor Air squadron and shrubland in the 3.05 and 4.45 respectively. Imphal will carry some of my money though, and if it wins, will stick a double on the others. Already been burnt by Platos Kode getting beat in a photo though :(

Nice start with Imphal but it seemed to have gone downhill from there on

I am looking forward to an uninterrupted Saturday of racing for a change :) I'll sort my bets out in the morning when there will be a better idea of the non runners

I'm not too confident with my bets for today as my fancies are not fancied very well on the markets :( But here goes :-

I'm not sure why this Sa Bin Suroor trained nag is such a big price but I have taken Arabian Hope in the 240 at Newmarket at 33/1 as an EW single.

I am looking forward to an uninterrupted Saturday of racing for a change :) I'll sort my bets out in the morning when there will be a better idea of the non runners

Yeah wasn't the best afternoon, still ended up with a small profit though as that was my strongest bet.

Couple of small bets for me today just for an interest, see if I can do my usual Saturday of picking loads and getting 1 placed :(

1.30NM Old Persian
1.40RE Rich Identity
1.50AS Waady

Small treble on those, with Waady the strongest.

2.05NM Marie of Lyon
2.35LI Not A Bad Oul Day
2.40NM Quemah
3.05FO Diable De Sivola

£1 Yankee

In the 2.40 Persuasive will be the favourite and on form alone should win, however the same could be said for his last 3 runs where he didn't win. I think he is likely to turn into one of those horses that should win most of his races but rarely does. That doesn't mean he won't win today but also means theres value elsewhere. Qemah makes the trip from France and is the only runner in the UK for trainer and jockey today. I would have preferred a little cut in the ground though. Ignore the last run as he ran poorly in the same race the previous year, there was a slow pace and I don't think the track suited. He prefers a fast pace, which he should get today.

Diable De Sivola ran extremely well in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham back in March (last run). Met loads of trouble in running and still only got beaten 6 lengths into 5th at odds of 33-1. He was running on at the end and the extra couple of furlongs today should play to his strengths. I would expect to see him dropped in out the back for most the race then start making his move about 2-3 furlongs out. If I'm by the computer I might have a small dabble in running, back at around 7 or 8 if he's dropped out like I expect, and lay back around 3.5 when he starts to make ground at the end, hopefully anyway. Only real concern is the break he's had but he has ran well after a break in the past so no reason he shouldn't do the same today.

Good luck with whatever you are backing today :)

I looked at it earlier, best race its won was a G3 in France, but was 1/20 to win, so shows the quality of the race, next best was a 28k class 1 handicap. However, a horse can only beat what its up against and it doesn't know its odds, so no reason why it can't run well :)

I would guess that the French would be happy with the place prize money in that race with a hope of winning it? I was thinking that Sylvester De Sousa's decision to ride today at Redcar could be significant rather than at the two other big meetings and I was in two minds of sticking an EW Yankee on 4 of his rides there. But I have to draw the line somewhere :( Checking his rides out I can see him getting at least a treble

I didn't notice that, however I don't think he's in very good form at the moment, 8% over the last 14 days, and its not as if he's some amateur who only gets rides on 66-1 shots.

Having said that, his first one has been back in massively (4-7 from roughly evens).

I'm going to do a £5 EW treble on

2.10 Comporta
3.20 Simmy's Copshop
4.30 Rashford's Double

simply as I am doing another £10 bet on the footie, will do it on betfair and get the £10 free bet so in effect costing me nothing.

First one on my earlier treble just won easily, glad I took 5-4 as it got backed in quite a bit too.

and this is why I don't like flat racing for betting purposes lol.

To try to recover my losses for today, in the 3.00, Blue Point is William Buicks only ride of the day, and his first back after injury, sticking £20 on @ 6/4, and thats it for the day, either just about break even or lose :D

Didn't realise it was Jimmy Fortune's last ride today, would be good if he went out on a winner (as long as he doesn't beat mine :)

Not A Bad Oul Day just won at Limerick.

So much for my bets so far! I still have plenty of chances though. If I was watching AtTheRaces I would have had a punt on the Irish racing because I seem to have had most of my luck there in recent months. And I can't wait for the jumps to get seriously on their way as I find the jumps much more consistent

A few for the weekend

Rolling Maul in the Cesarewitch. He needs 2 horses to be non runners to get in but think theres a good chance of that. If he doesn't get in next stop will be Cheltenham for him.

In the bumper at Chepstow on Sunday, Fortunes Hiding is expected to do well. Play the Ace and Buachaill Allain are also running at Chepstow, and haven't just gone for a ride out :)

Rolling Maul is in the race tomorrow, well worth an EW, especially if any of the bookies go 6+ places. Currently 40-1, I wouldn't be laying him at 40-1 thats for sure!

Sois Gentil in the 2.50 today is fancied, but they don't know how good the favourite is, they think it will win as long as the favourite hasn't improved too much.

I know the owner of Rolling Maul and know tomorrow's race has been the season long goal. I was told around 5 months ago this is what they were aiming for, but it depended how he did in his first few flat races. I'm massively up on him overall anyway, so win or lose tomorrow he doesn't owe me anything, but he is a very good horse and I know the owners will be very disappointed if they don't come away with some sort of prize. The fact his next race (if he hadn't got in tomorrow) would have been Cheltenham shows the high regard they hold him in :) As it is, he will probably run at Chepstow after this race.

Skybet are going 8 places on the race, and he is currently 33-1 with them, obviously tomorrows race is higher quality than he usually runs in, but has won class 3 handicaps so a class 2 off bottom weight shouldn't be too far out his reach. There is a pretty big gamble going on on Lagostovegas at the moment though.

Ignore his last run, it was on heavy and he didn't like the ground, that won't be a problem tomorrow hopefully.

Obviously its taking a chance that the low weight gives him an edge over better horses in the race, but at the prices I think he's worth a few quid each way. I wouldn't put my house on him though, he's 33-1+ for a reason! :D

Oh dear. I have just taken Rolling Maul each way at 66/1 at Paddypower

I've took a fiver EW at betfair at 66's, and its drifted to 40's on Skybet, so have done £10 EW on there. I know its unlikely but tomorrow when the markets up I'm going to put a fiver on at Betvictor for it to win by 4+ lengths, which should be around 100-1 hopefully (then be gutted when it comes 9th haha)

Got a little more than the 100-1 I was expecting

Not really got time for any form study or anything today so just following the money for a small £20 double. All figures are from betfair.

Kew Gardens in the 1.50 NM has had 195k of 248k on it
Shabaaby in the 2.40 Y has 49k of 62k on it

Expert Eye in the 3.00 NM has 311k of 390k on it but at 1.53 is too short for me to back.

Obviously have my Rolling Maul bets on too.
I also like Not A Bad Oul Day in the 2.45 Cork and Alcala in the 3.05 CH. Finians Oscar 'should' win this but I am always wary about backing a short priced favourite on its first start over fences.

Good luck to anyone having a bet today :D

Rolling Maul seemed to hit a flat spot about 4f out and never recovered, came 16th out of 35 so did better than his odds suggested but obviously not good enough on the day to get a place. It looks like he's going to Cheltenham though, not too sure thats the best option, but we shall see :)

Talking of Cheltenham, its very very rare I do an ante post bet, especially this early, but Betfair Sportsbook is offering 10/1 for Petite Mouchoir to win any race there at the next festival. He was already in the top half of the betting for the Arkle before yesterday's run and is now generally 8/1. He won extremely easily yesterday, the 7 lengths doesn't do how easily he won justice, and the second favourite that he beat is considered to be a Cheltenham prospect too. On top of that, the Arkle doesn't look particularly strong anyway and if he runs well in another race or 2 before the festival I can see his odds for the Arkle being around 4/1 at some point. Taking 10/1 for any race is a much better option, and whichever race he goes for will (hopefully) give an opportunity to lay off for at least a free bet. I've stuck £100 on, which is massive for me, but I'm convinced there will be profit in the bet, even if its only a free bet on him at the festival!

The inhumanity continues. I'll miss tomorrows racing but I decided to stick the one bet on and tape the racing for later. Here's my bet and good luck with yours this weekend

Good luck with those tomorrow Colin, I'm having a break this month, well apart from anything I really fancy, but even then I think I've only had a few bets this month plus what I've put on here, rather than every day.

The tip I posted just above is now 7/1 with Betfair ;)

Had a little look at the racing today and I probably wont be having a bet, but these are the ones I like

2.00 Ascot Librisa Breeze, around 12/1. Soft ground, 6f with a fast pace is exactly what this horse wants, and while Harry Angel and Caravaggio are the 2 obvious ones, Librisa has a good chance of getting placed at least. Harry Angel might find this too stiff a test and Caravaggio has iffy feet, although in this ground I'm not sure that will be too much of a problem.

1.25, Order of St George is most likely to win this, but if there is a danger I think it will be Stradivarius, and if I do a EW Lucky 15, will have this in it. Around 7's at the moment.

3.15, Al Wukair is a tentative selection as theres probably half a dozen in this race that could win, but Al Wukair likes soft, and cheekpieces should help him, roughly 7/1 at the moment.

3.50, Cracksman should win this, and I'm not sure why people think the drop back to 12f will be a problem, he's won over the distance in decent races in the past. However, from an EW perspective, Poet's Word at 8/1 is better value. My main concern is the ground, as I'm not sure how soft it is and I don't think he wants it too deep. Either way though, he certainly has an EW chance.

Elsewhere, in the 3.20 Brelan D'As is running for the first time since almost a year ago. Very impressive in his last race, I have no idea why he's a bigger price than West Approach, who has been running in much better races, but doing nothing, and is likely (in my view) to be using this as a schooling session on the way to Cheltenham next month.

Well done :) I was actually going to post Miami Present up but got tied up and didn't even get a chance to back it myself, but it was the reason Sean was at Southwell yesterday.

I did pretty well on Saturday, withdrew £400 from a £20 deposit with Librisa Breeze winning and getting the tricast in the cracksman race :)

In the 2.00 at Cheltenham Singlefarmpayment will surely be better than the rest of this field, and I will be backing him, but for EW then Perfect Candidate at 25/1 has to have a chance, he seems to either run really well round here or really bad so it is definately a gamble, but if he's on a going day then 25/1 is a big price. Probably do a small RFC with SFP too. I do think SFP will win this quite easily though.

In the 4.55 I really like Robbin'Hannon, only around 2/1, but I think he is more progressive than the favourite, and even though he wasn't massively impressive last time out, he should be fitter this time.

I like Cracking Destiny in the bumper at 5.30 , but as usual with bumpers the market needs watching closely, as long as one of the newcomers doesn't get a ton of money on them then think this should win quite easily.

In the 4.20 I backed Alcala last week and thought he was going to win, until he slipped up giving Finian's Oscar the race, will be hoping to get my money back today. Two Taffs is the obvious danger but don't think he will beat Alcala.

In the 3.10 I have no idea why Vaniteux is 20/1 but if I was a bookie I wouldn't be laying it at that price. Only thing that tempers confidence is the fact that David Pipe isn't exactly in the best of form at the moment.

The 3.45 is a race I thought I had sorted last night, Thomas Campbell and Del Arca being the 2, win and ew respectively, going against, for once, rolling maul. However, RM has been backed from around 25/1 into 12's. Unfortunately I can't get in touch with the person I know with connections to him, but usually when his horses get back they are expected to win. I will have to have a small EW bet on him now as if he wins I will be kicking myself for weeks after backing him so many times previously :). Will probably do some small rfc's and tricasts on the 3.

Good luck whatever you are backing today

I restrict myself to either tv racing or attheraces tv and I never notice Hong Kong racing. It does not help that your 8 hours ahead of us in the UK so I could either be in the land of nod or working while the racing is on in Hong Kong :(

Well we regularly bet on UK races. Recently races from the British Champions and QEII sTAKES were broadcast live to us for betting. I understand turnover from the UK on HK racing is growing all the time.

A few interesting market moves for tonight

5.25 Sky Rocket
5.40 Vivianite
6.55 Captain Navarre

Done a small treble on them just due to the weight of money rather than actually thinking they will win. The fav in the last at Kempton should win but not for me at around 6/4 in a race like that.

Well the favourite won easily at Kemptom at 10/11 so 6/4 actually ended up a good price!

Three selections for today, wasn't going to have a bet but know the owner of these (same owner as Rolling Maul) thinks they all have a fairly decent chance. Going to do an EW treble just because if the prices of 2 of them, and there being a fairly short priced favourite to beat for two of them.

1.00S Beggar's Wishes 6/1
3.10S Buachaill Alainn 15/2 (won this last year easily, from roughly the same weight, his form is pretty up and down though)
4.20S Play The Ace around 2/1. In form at the moment, has ran 4 times over this C&D, winning 3 times and coming 2nd the other. Only downside is I think Sean gets on better with him than James. Ground will be fine I think.

Good luck to anyone having a bet.

EDIT: Beggars Wishes won at 10/1 ;)

Jumps racing is getting decent again now, so doing an EW lucky 15 on the earlier races

1.15A Shanksforamillion, as long as the rain doesn't come I think this has an excellent chance of a place at least.
1.50A Cobra De Mai has been winning similar races to this by 20+ lengths. Think he should still be good enough to get a place here at least.
1.55DR Charlie Stout up in class but the softer the better for him. This race is better than he usually contests but still think he should get placed against these.
2.25A Theinval, can't see this being out the first 3, not too sure about the win as it seems not to like getting its head in front, but has ran well in better races than this previously.

Later in the card, can't see Poormans Hill getting beat in the 3.40DR and the volume of money in the 4.15DR on Rapid Escape suggests when I was told earlier in the week he would win easily, that the information was right, or at least more than me was told! Emerald Rocket in the 3.55 @ Newcastle should win again.

I also REALLY like Bristol De Mai in the 3.15, and in the 3.20 at Ayr, if there are no non runners, then I'll be having an EW bet on Gassin Golf, will be waiting to close to the off though as won't be if theres only 2 places.

Good luck with your bets today :D

I've gone with a ridiculous punt on long shots today on the ITV racing. Colin's Sister is a massive price for some reason despite improving massively last season.

In the 10.19 I like World Approval and Senga in the 9.00 EW ;)

I was thinking about an each way on Blackjackhat in the 1019 because it has won over course and distance three times which proves it can deal with the sharp bend before the run in. But 40-1 tells me that I would be throwing my money away.Cambodia is a tempting EW in the 9.00 at about 16-1 which has also won over C&D twice

Sums my usual Saturday's up

1.15A Shanksforamillion - Unplaced, my 2nd choice won at 16/1 (price put me off, he was drifting in market)
1.50A Cobra De Mai - 4th, needed 3rd
1.55DR Charlie Stout - 2nd beaten on the line, head up, if it was down would have won
2.25A Theinval - mistake at last cost him 3rd
