Nicky Henderson is in amazing form at the moment, his last 16 runners in the last 7 days, have produced form figures of 22141211261PU1111. He has 3 runners today 12.20 Chasamax, 1.30 Versatlity and Morning Vicar in the 2.40, all at Kempton. Prices aren't great at 7/4, 7/4, 10/3, but a treble pays about 31.5/1. I do think James Bowen is riding poorly at the moment (although he did ride a winner for Henderson recently) and Jeremiah McGrath isn't riding well at the moment either, so won't be going overboard with the stake. Another one of interest is Global Tour in the 3.50, has decent form and Fergal O'Brien is another trainer in good form and his only runner today.
 
Unlucky Col, that would have been a massive payout, still about £500 for a 50p (£7.50) stake was it?

I got a text this morning saying Sean is at Exeter for Megaudais Speed in the 1.25, which the betting sort of backs up (50/1 into 20/1), however on all it's form so far I can't see how it will get close to getting placed. His other ride has more of a chance in my view. around the same price, is obviously thought to be ok, considering he was sent off the 15/8 fav in his first chase start, which was a better race than this.

Seans other horse has quite to improve from last two, if has got everything together and it was just two bad ones after promising start, could do well today. Will throw my few euros to win and place :thumbsup:

yes the return was just over that. It looks like Sean had no luck today
 
Bit of a longshot, but in the 1.55 at Cheltenham, Willie Mullins has his only runner of the meeting, Robin Des Foret. It has been running in decent races, usually getting placed or winning, likes soft/heavy ground, and is ok at the distance. Unlike his brother, I'm not really a massive fan of James Bowen, but he can pop the odd winner in, and had a 20/1 winner last week. He very rarely rides for Mullins, so that added to the fact its Mullins only runner there today, and he didn't have one running yesterday either, seems to be a long way to send one horse, if he isn't expected to take some prize money home.

Probably not the one to go overboard on, but could find worse horses to stick in an EW multiple to make the numbers up.

Currently around 18/1

I've taken generous day in the 1.55.
I took shine baby shine EW in the 12.15 at newcastle at 12-1 and it would have won if it wasnt given such a god awful ride

Incidently I love the maverick light on Roker seafront that refuses to conform to the rainbow theme :)

Yeah yesterday wasn't the easiest day :(
got a 14/1 winner with it in the next race so got £26 back from my 50p EW lucky 15.

Bobo Mac in the 2.35 Ludlow is Sean's only ride of the day, and his first since 30th November. Not massively far from where he lives but still around a 3 hour drive. So that in itself makes me think he's not going there without expecting some prize money. Bit of a negative is the lack of money on Betfair for it, as a lot of Sean's rides get backed in regardless of if they are expected to win, and the trainer (who I've never seen Sean ride for before) is out of form, with his best result in the last 14 days being a 3rd, from 10 runners in that time. Wouldn't go overboard on it but will be having a small bet on it :)

In the 2.50 Lingfield, The Jean Genie looks good EW at around 7/1. Just beaten in its last race, which was better than this, hit the front too early and was just beaten by something coming from behind. With a better, and in form, jockey on today I think he has a great chance of winning this, especially as the first 2 in the betting are nothing special.

2 big priced ones for tonight that have a better than expected chance are Followthefootsteps in the 7.15 and Glorious Charmer in the 6.15, 14/1 and 33/1 respectively.

Sean's horse just wasn't good enough to beat the other favourite, but did beat the rest of the field easily.
The Jean Genie finished lame so excuse for that, worth watching for next time it's out :)
 
Another one, Duc Des Genievres in the 2.30 at Kempton. Bit risky as he hasn't been running well this season, but the 2 ahead of him in the market have serious questions about them. Sceau Royal is unlikely to like the ground and I don't think Capeland has done that much to be the deserved favourite in the race. Currently around 11/4.
Solar Heights in the 3.40 Wolves should do better than his price suggests too. Was 6/1 a couple of hours ago, now best priced 7/2
 
Not the best day, Sean's 1st one won at 9/2, then he didn't ride the second one, which came 5th.
Duc Des Genievres came second, I was right about the 2 at the front of the market as he beat both those,
Solar Heights didn't do anything
 
A speculative (very) small bet, £2 RFC on the 2 outsiders in the 2.05 Leicester. The 1/16 favourite is clearly the best horse in the race by far, but has never ran over fences, and 3 horse races regularly throw up weird results. Forecast won't pay massive as although they are 11/1 and 20/1, 3 horse races reduce the return quite a lot, I would imagine around £50 max.

In the 3.10 at Leopardstown, I know the owners of Kemboy and they expect him to win, but I also like Road to Respect, and I can't see him being out the first 3, and expect he will give Kemboy a run for his money.

I was told yesterday they expect Benarty Hill to win the 2.30 at Catterick, but the fact he was 12/1 when I looked and no money on Betfair put me off. Wish it hadn't as now its a best price of 9/2 with almost 50% of the trading on Betfair on him.

I finished the days racing off making a slight profit which for me is a result because I have really enjoyed an afternoon of racing undisturbed by work or life :)
 
Well what a crock of shit that was. I really hate it when they mess about with stuff close to the off. I know the race would likely be abandoned if it had been run on the proper track, but Misty Mai wanted bottomless ground, switching it to fresh grass meant it wasn't heavy and killed her chances.
Sorry to those who backed it, but you can't predict that type of thing happening :(

You pay your money, you take your chance.... I for one love to see your tips , some win, some lose but most of the time we all get a run for our money.
So keep them coming @colinsunderland & @geordiecolin , I always look forward to seeing your tips/bets and if my horse can't win the race then I will always be cheering your's on.

I used to be spend time with quite a few trainers and owners. I still do on occassion. The one thing that I have learnt over the years is not to trust every tip your given. These guys or usually over optimistic :axeman:

Nor did I, but they can and do move fences and hurdles so presumably its ok, this is what the racing post said before the race

Hereford latest: The Live Tipster - Hereford update
Bad news for fans of mares' novices' hurdles (there must presumably be at least one of you) as the last at Hereford has been cancelled. The 3.20 will be run on fresh ground, which may be bad news for Misty Mai as she would run a career-best on a ploughed field.

The previous race was a chase so it wouldn't have been fresh ground if it was ran on the same grass.

I agree, I am pretty good at sorting the wheat from the chaff usually, Cheltenham and the Grand National are the worst, you can get 10 horses in every race that the trainers and jockeys swear they will win :D

I intend to be at both of those major meetings this year. I have a daughter in Cheltenham so it would be doubly sweet.
I was given a tip from an owner at Goodwood I think last year for his horse. I looked at the odds and form and thought "Feck off"
It romped home at 125/1

I'll just forget today happened haha. How did yours get on Col, Sean had a 16/1 winner later in the day too, didn't back either as hadn't spoken to anyone so didn't know if they were fancied or not.

Tomorrow The Caller is back in action with Sean riding him, in the Sussex National at 2.40. The Caller is the horse I put up a couple of months back in the Durham National that won around 7/1 I think. Didn't run well last time, but Sean's back on board tomorrow and is worth an EW bet at 18/1 with Hills. Can see it being that price tomorrow, would expect it to start around the 10/1 mark max.

If Weststreet jumps ok then he has a good chance of getting placed too, around 20/1 at the moment.

I just about made my money back Col. Too tired to sort my bets out for today :)
 
Bit late, but in the 1.15 I don't think Irish Octave should be a 28-1 outsider of 7. Likes the ground, has won better races than this in the past, distance is ok, and all the others have comments like 'if he recovers previous form' next to them. Not saying it will win, but I also don't think he should be 33/1, more like 10/1 max. So will just have a couple of £ EW on him :). He has drifted massively in the market from this morning though so it will only be a small bet.
 
1.50 Warwick

Two For Gold, I think will win this. Highest Sun is the obvious one in the race, but he is currently on a mark of 142, which is pretty much ideal for Cheltenham, and if he gets beaten today, I'll probably have a small ante post bet on him. But if he wins, his mark will be too high for most the handicaps, and he isn't good enough for the RSA or similar, so I have a feeling they won't want him to win today. I might be wrong, but just what I think looking at the horses profile.

2.40 Kempton

Echiquier I think has a good EW chance at around 14/1 with 4 places. Also like Gortroe Joe, which has halved in price since last night to around 16/1.

2.25W Keen On seems too big at 5/1 (B365)

3.35W Total longshot that I think should run better than its odds suggest, is Connetable @ 150/1 Unibet (3 places) or 125/1 at some others with 4 places. Beware, running better than its odds means I think it won't finish last :D

Of Sean's 3 rides today, I have no idea. Judging from the market, I don't think George Valentine is expected to do much, and I assume he is there for Bobo Mac in the 3.00 as I don't think the other one will be good enough to win.

I have already taken one or two of your selections. I'm not that impressed with the fields today given that I am mostly an each way punter who prefers big fields with decent odds. So Fairyhouse has most of my money with smaller punts on the other lucky 15's
