Hello all,

It feels like I am attending my first AA meeting introducing myself on here! "My name is Menofsnow... and I am a Gamblaholic" - though in a good way!!

I have been an avid gambler ever since my father took me to Chepstow racecourse (in Wales) and gave me £5 to spend. £1 for each of the five horse-races; I must have been about six. It was raining hard and the going was soft, and as I stood peeping over the rail at the horses in the circle (before the jockeys mounted and went to the track), I recall asking a Tweed-clad man which horse I should back.

"The one with the biggest feet" he replied.

It just so happened that there was a horse called Bigfoot in the race (so clearly he must have the biggest feet...right?). Anyway, I can't recall who placed the bet for me, but my father still delights in how, after the race, I came back with about £50 in my pocket having stuck all the money on 10ish to 1 shot. I think it went on a Sega MegaDrive!

Needless to say after that I was hooked! At uni, I bought a slot-machine and used to wheel it to house parties (until I left the back open and the float was stolen).

Always been massive slots fan and I progressed early on to be a fan of pretty much every form of punting, especially my old nemesis - BlackJack (of which by far my favourite variation is Perfect Pairs).

Looking forward to meeting many like-minded souls.

I will come clean; I have also made my love of gambling my profession, in that i work for an online-casino group, but please don't hold that against me.

Genuine punter here - you can test me if you like :D

Welcome to the forum from another addict!

I've been a gambler for over 30 years (well, a loser for 20+ years and winner for 10), including being a fruit machine junkie for at least 25 years.
That habit is well and truly kicked to the curb now - when the fruities were 50p a spin and you often needed to pump in over £100 to get the £35 jackpot and pray for a repeat was bad enough, but now they are £1 a go chasing £70 it's just got ridiculous. The fruit machine industry has not just shot itself in the foot with these ludicrous stakes - they've blown their whole leg off! :p

Nice to meet you, Menofsnow! :)

What group do you work for, and are you a casino manager or rep?

Wander around, there are lots of really good posts and members and the rest of the site is loaded with helpful stuff, too.

So anyway, Welcome!!!!! ;)

King - I reckon we might be as bad (good) as each other, and I agree - the land based fruities (or slots for our US cousins) are too pricey now - I don't like the way they have a greedy little mouth accepting notes too!

Remember the good old MayGay, Barcrest and JPM machines; holds after nudges when not everyone knew, hold three times and they'll spin in, Leap of Faith feature on Indiana Jones, K9 feature on Doctor Who, the list goes on!!

In fact, remember when the jackpot was a maximum of £4 and any win over £2 and the entire jackpot was paid in tokens!!

What are you top 5 fruit machines of old?

I will start off with:
Doctor Who
Indiana Jones (original)
Viva Espagna
Monopoly 50th Anniversary (Deluxe Edition) as I bought this one
Italian Job (original)

:)

P.S. Remember resetting the old machines through the simple 321,123,231 trick?

Blimey I can't remember now - I have trouble remembering what I did yesterday! :p

I do recall that Indiana Jones being a good one though - my ex-wife had one in the pub she used to own.

Hi and thanks.

The player has emailed me and I am in the process of resolving the issue - a valid support query by the sounds of it, but easily and quickly sortable...

Happy New Year...
