I clicked the links but the book is sold out (who would pay that price!)....FYI: I think your breaking forum rules. No links are allowed in forum posts.

Go sell it on ebay then

Hi fun4all

You are right. But I cannot use eBay.

Anyway,
For online live dealer BJ players, I think, the Grosjean's book maybe helpful. Because it has interesting article written about semi-optimal playing, that is, using multiple count systems for betting, playing and insurance. And for playing decisions, using different counting system for specific hand type. Presumably, it's supposed to use spreadsheet software. When I read the article, I was surprised for Grosjean's extreme playing style.
Though, I don't know these days there exist Live Dealer Online BJ games or not.
Personally, I had a bitter experience of playing some Playtech Casinos some year ago. Some of them may not be well-recommended.

Last year I downloaded card-counting practise software (waaay cheaper and useful than those books btw).......In the end I still didn't have the patience for it all. It took more work than my own day job so......

Bw, I think you'd like 5Dimes casino ;)

Hi jshort,

Thanks for your recommendation.

In my personal opinion,
For serious (and quick) BJ study, I recommend to master very basics of statistics (variance and covariance) and to master at least one simulator software, personally I love SBA.
And, some knowledge of high-school algebra is helpful, such as, multiplication of matrices, for example, if one has statistical data of variance, covariance and advantage for particular count by simulation, then optimal betting amount is calculated by multiplication of "inverse of covariance matrix" and "adv vector" for simultaneous multiple hands betting, though restriction condition of bet-spread is another problem. These calculation is very easy by a little studying spreadsheet software. And some spreadsheet soft has built-in non-linear solver. This is very powerful and easy to find optimal betting amount numerically, even when there are many restriction conditions.

To run SBA on new PC, the followings were fast and stable for me,

1.) Win 7 + Virtual Box + Win 2000 VM + SBA

2.) Win 7 + VMware Player + Win 98SE VM + SBA

Running SBA on Win XP was not fast.

Go to the forum, WizardofVegas. You might find some members there are who deeply passionate about the mathematical/theoretical side of card-counting. I have a math degree and although I've done card counting here and there on occasion, just for fun, this is beyond me!

Grosjean's book has many data numbers for many games, BJ (including many playing indice tables for many count systems), Baccarat, three-card-poker and others.

He wrote 2 editions of Beyond Counting. First edition was in 2000, 223 pages, paperback. Second edition was in 2009, 669 pages, hardcover, Exhibit CAA Beyond Counting.

In my opinion, to have Grosjean's book is like having a highly skilled computer programer with high powered (Harvard) math knowledge as an assistant.

In my experience, I analyzed a 3-card poker variation game in Goa, India, by using Grosjean's data about standard 3-card poker.
