Has anyone ever actually had trouble with VPN's?

I know many casinos say they don't allow vpns - but I'm wondering if that's just an empty statement.

My idiot government is cracking down ever harder on online casinos to protect that sweet, sweet land based gambling revenue and I'm seriously considering vpn'ing to a more sensible country and just playing via Bitcoin etc.
Has anyone actually been stung doing similar?

It's entirely up to the individual online casino. You could still use a VPN address from your own country without hassle.

Consult them for permission and keep the correspondence for reference.

Many casinos allow VPNs these days. Just make sure your gameplay does not appear shifty and raise red flags. Check their T&Cs carefully.

I've never had a problem using a VPN to hide where I'm from and have done so for years across many casinos.

He's talking about VPNing and hiding what country hes actually based in.

He's from Australia and most definitely should NOT do this.

@Jezmo44 it will be a clear breach of their terms, if they do not accept Australian players you can not play with them.

How or why would shielding details even work with something like VPN, I've always found it curious myself!

When it comes to payments are they just going to say "Well we suspect they're playing from Uganda, but it's ok, pay them. It says Switzerland in their profile"

Mmm I know it's not recommended but it's getting to be the only option available.

Hence why I'm wondering if anyone has ever actually had any ill experiences with using them.

Du to the fact that there are strict gambling rules in your country and this is a public forum - nobody will tell you (openly) were to play using bitcoin from your location. If I was you I would ask privately to some of the Australian members here or on other gambling-related forums (preferably Australian ones).

I know how it works in one of the other countries where online gambling is totally banned so I am pretty sure that there are Curacao casinos that are focused on Australians too. Yes, they are operating illegally in your country but they are trusted among players.

Their web address constantly changes but they keep you informed via email about their new one (mirror address). This is made to keep them running in case your government somehow finds them and blocks their domain. Their live chat, as a rule, will be able to give you a detailed explanation about what details to fill in your registration fields.
As you going to use bitcoin, your name and address can be anything - the important is your email, because you may need it in case you forget your password.

Remember, do proper research and do not trust much to information that is on affiliate sites offering you to play here and there! Try to find the info by real players. In case you find the casino - make sure to ask their Live support all the questions that might worry you in future.

P.S. Regarding VPN, I would make sure a VPN service provider is not located in your country.

This is not a "ask in private" question.

Please understand that any operator offering for example netent games to Australian players are also in breach of their contract with the game provider.

I fully understand the situation is less than ideal for Australian players, but using VPN, crypto and what not to go around exclusions should not be encouraged.

At best he will get his winnings confiscated.

My idiot government...
Welcome to the club! :(

I fully agree with Guntis (thanks to him I don't have to type it all out myself!); you can't play EU licensed casinos or the "mainstream" software providers, but if using Bitcoin their are many excellent reputable casinos you can safely use.

There are countless illegal, banned and prohibited thing in this world but despite this, people will still continue to circumvent them and fulfil their needs.
And nobody's talking about legality here as gambling online for Australians is illegal in the first place.

The OP asked for advice if VPN is ok to use, so the answer is yes as in his case a VPN service and cryptocurrency is the optimal option. But to do it or not is a personal choice.

Did you not read my post. I said to check the casinos T&Cs?

Many you will find don't ban Australian players and couldn't care less if you use a VPN just like Netflix or Amazon who I do the same thing with if the content is not available for Aus residents.

Just to make this clear it is illegal for offshore casinos to offer their services to Australians but its not illegal for Australians to gamble.

There are many casinos that accept AU players and only play there but make sure you fill out your details honestly and check their terms to make sure Australia is not restricted.

I use a VPN and most casinos are ok with it but the games are still limited whether you use a VPN or not.

Using a VPN to mask my location came in very useful recently when I was playing online in Vegas both with internet casinos and my Australian sportsbook that would otherwise have been geo blocked. I didn't ask for permission and didnt' have any problems getting some big wins paid during my American stay.

I must have missed where I quoted your post?

Who cares if I got that wrong as the gist of my post is the same.

Have you never used a VPN to get around geo block. on the internet? It says a lot if you haven't.

No i have absolutely not used a VPN to get around a geo block on online casinos. Because quite frankly i prefer not to have winnings confiscated.

I agree if you don't need to use VPN to gamble online because your are living in the UK but many aren't in that position. Accordingly your views seem to be without relevant experience and completely pointless.

I work in the industry and I definitely know how it functions. Using a VPN is a bad idea no matter what.

Most of the people who work in the industry don't understand how it functions

edit: Didn't refer to Halvor, sorry :) Just in general doesn't matter what industry is in question, most of workers don't know how it actually functions.

How come they don't understand it? :D
Even regular people should know that VPN is very highly recommended to use in all public places like Starbucks, McDonalds etc where there is a free WIFI connection available.
