Has anyone ever actually had trouble with VPN's?

I know many casinos say they don't allow vpns - but I'm wondering if that's just an empty statement.

My idiot government is cracking down ever harder on online casinos to protect that sweet, sweet land based gambling revenue and I'm seriously considering vpn'ing to a more sensible country and just playing via Bitcoin etc.
Has anyone actually been stung doing similar?

It's entirely up to the individual online casino. You could still use a VPN address from your own country without hassle.

Consult them for permission and keep the correspondence for reference.

Many casinos allow VPNs these days. Just make sure your gameplay does not appear shifty and raise red flags. Check their T&Cs carefully.

I've never had a problem using a VPN to hide where I'm from and have done so for years across many casinos.

How or why would shielding details even work with something like VPN, I've always found it curious myself!

Well I think you would be able to play game providers that otherwise would not be enabled for your specific country, I assume.
I could use a VPN to play Novomatic at casinos where it is actually restricted for Irish players.
The VPN would lift that geo-block.

I fully agree with Guntis (thanks to him I don't have to type it all out myself!); you can't play EU licensed casinos or the "mainstream" software providers, but if using Bitcoin their are many excellent reputable casinos you can safely use.

There are countless illegal, banned and prohibited thing in this world but despite this, people will still continue to circumvent them and fulfil their needs.
And nobody's talking about legality here as gambling online for Australians is illegal in the first place.

The OP asked for advice if VPN is ok to use, so the answer is yes as in his case a VPN service and cryptocurrency is the optimal option. But to do it or not is a personal choice.

Just to make this clear it is illegal for offshore casinos to offer their services to Australians but its not illegal for Australians to gamble.

There are many casinos that accept AU players and only play there but make sure you fill out your details honestly and check their terms to make sure Australia is not restricted.

I use a VPN and most casinos are ok with it but the games are still limited whether you use a VPN or not.

Using a VPN to mask my location came in very useful recently when I was playing online in Vegas both with internet casinos and my Australian sportsbook that would otherwise have been geo blocked. I didn't ask for permission and didnt' have any problems getting some big wins paid during my American stay.

No i have absolutely not used a VPN to get around a geo block on online casinos. Because quite frankly i prefer not to have winnings confiscated.

I work in the industry and I definitely know how it functions. Using a VPN is a bad idea no matter what.

Even regular people should know that VPN is very highly recommended to use in all public places like Starbucks, McDonalds etc where there is a free WIFI connection available.

If people are honest with the casino and same with casino there should not be a problem.

Also sticking to the same country using a VPN is a good idea and look for restricted games for your country, do not play them
