Hey there,

Just thought I would add to the ever growing list of introductory threads... my name is Shaun and I am from Melbourne, Australia.

I mainly play Roulette online and sometimes dabble in Blackjack and Bingo if I have a bit more time up my sleeve. Gambling has become a rather large part of my life now and I find myself playing online every day. I have had some streaks of good luck - but often things have not fallen my way.

In some ways I wish I could turn back time and had never started gambling, especially online. But I have learnt a lot from my experience so far and currently am not willing to give up my goal of attempting to pay off my gambling debt by controlling the amount I am betting and setting strict limits.

Thanks for reading and feel free to reply or send me a PM if you have any advice!

Regards, Shaun (sticks1977)

Nice to meet you Shaun, and welcome to Casinomeister!!! :)

It's so much easier to play on line and lose track of how often and how much you should play and gamble. I hope you didn't mean you are badly in debt from gambling on line. I do not think you can ever catch up on losses unless you have an incredible amount of luck. The main thing is to try to set limits and have fun. Or, like some of us have done, quit for a while, to regain perspective.

Good luck!

Hello there fellow Aussie

Welcome to the forums.. Don't we all love those lucky streaks !!! shame they don't happen to often.

Enjoy the forums, and don't forget if you have anything to ask at all go for it, most posters here are very knowledgeable and friendly.

Yes, unfortunately part of the debt is due to gambling online - but I stress I always have enough money to pay the bills, utilities, mortgage, etc. I already had existing debt before starting to gamble online and stupidly part of my reason for starting to gamble was to try and earn some extra funds to pay off the debt - hasn't worked.... yet!

Hello there fellow Aussie

Hey there, great to know there are some other Aussies around here - where are you from?

Welcome to the forum

Thanks, it is wonderful to be here (so far!)

From cold old Ballarat mate and if you know the place you can understand why I play online :p

Yep know of Ballarat - once stayed the night there a few years back when we went to pickup our new labrador puppy from Clemkirk Kennels in Moonambel.

Much easier playing online than having to travel into the big smoke!

Heya Shaun! Welcome!!

I got some advice for you:
Stay in the moment, and work on your discipline, so when you actually win something you cash it out :)

*shouts at his younger self, but the words can't get through the time barrier :what:*

Sounds a bit like me, but 10 years ago!
I paid off my Credit Card (not a huge debt) via online casinos, but it was a different online world back then; Bonuses had MUCH lower WR and games like BlackJack & Roulette counted at 100% at most of the sites I played.
If you're interested, I have a "blog" about how I got started online on my website here:

Self control was the key - but self control & gambling are too things which rarely sit comfortably together.

These days it is a different ball-game and much harder to make a profit. I would NEVER recommend that anyone with debts or other need for money try to win it though gambling these days - it's almost certain to end in tears. :(

Welcome to the forum, take care and have Good Luck!
