CM Announcement Goodbye Casinomeister from Dunover!

@conker @dunover

Hey everyone. Sorry to pee on @dunover potatoes and @conker chips but this is a good sign for me that it’s the right time to retire too. I’ll still be watching with interest but the forum isn’t what it was for me any more and to lose respected contributors as moderators is a sign of the changes. I’ll still be available as an official representative for Lottomart but will no longer be posting publicly. Most will say that’s a blessing. :). Thanks for everything and dare I say we miss you Bryan.

I can't accept this Mark. Who am I going to wind up now and try to match up against @L&L-Jan ?

Joking aside, sorry to hear this. Lottomart wasn't for me but you have been good here from a reps perspective and it would be a shame to see you step back.

For old times sake, I bet @L&L-Jan isnt stepping down.

I am late to the party, I want to wish Dunover and Conker the best for the future. Even though me and Dunover had a few heated debates over the years it was an honour to have you as a Staff Member.

As for Conker well I have not seen much from him really but good luck for the future.

I actually have quit gambling again too, I put blocks on my bank app and my PayPal. I am in the process of getting my finances back on track. This time I do not think I will be gambling again, but I have said this before. But I really want to mean it this time. The way the UKGC is headed etc just is not a good place to be to gamble anymore.

But honestly it is nice having money in my bank account again lol.

IT is not about me anyway so again I wish you both a very healthy future.

EDIT: Webzcas you better not be going anywhere either. Otherwise this forum will be headed in one direction. Losing all these valuable members when it got taken over especially losing The Dude. It has not been the same without him and now it will not be the same without these 2 either and if you go too. Well yeah you get the gist. @Mark_Lottomart although we have not really crossed paths much, I also wish you a happy retirement. The forum will greatly miss your humour and posts and you are one of the longest and greatest reps this forum has ever had as well.

Well, you've just pounded the nails into this coffin so to speak. As Dave mentioned, you are a piece of the furniture here and for CM to lose you as a casino rep and an avid player, well - that's about it for this place.

Really sad watching what I built up for 27 years having the air deflated from it.

If anyone wants to check out a forum that is not run by corporate greed - there is always Colinsunderland's Talking Horses which I am still running. No bonus lists or casino ads, it's just a forum - about horses.

For those of you who don't know, Mark has been an integral part of this site for a very long time. I can't count the times he has assisted us in solving player issues - probably hundreds of times - and not from his properties alone, but by advice given to both me and Max and the rest of the team.

Wow what has happened in such a short space of time to Casinomeister! Who will be next to jump ship or tossed overboard? What was even the thought process behind all the changes, run down Casinomeister until it doesn't exist or becomes a totally different entity.

It's a sad day. I understand business is business but come on Casinomeister hasn't even been given the time to evolve.

You will be sorely missed too,my friend. You've been a tremendous help and have appreciated customer loyalty too.
Best of luck.

Well, after a wonderfully entertaining 14 years as a member of this forum and five years or so as staff and admin, today 11 February 2025 is my final day of service.

Along with @conker I am now no longer part of the structurally optimised and disciplined cost base. It's time to lay down the ban-hammer, turn off my shill detector and pass on other duties like the moderating and comps into the capable hands of @Webzcas and @Nate.

I have some great memories to take away, the meet-ups and meals in London, Amsterdam and Berlin where I was privileged to meet the other CM staff, Bryan and numerous forum members as well as many reps, some of which are still present here.

This period has exposed the dark side of the industry regarding addiction, scams and fraud, the hysterically funny side (remember 'potty in shoes' anyone?) and from a far more pleasant perspective the mutual help, fun and friendly discussion from which ultimately we all learn.

I will be retaining my forum membership, but as you can see I am represented in green status, a 'paleomeister'. The intention is to lurk from now-on dropping in with the occasional post, probably in the Bonanza thread.

Thank-you for your contributions to CM over my time as a forum regular and I wish you all good luck and health in the future.

Auf Wiedersehen!
Sad to see you go Dunover! Thanks for all the work you've put in here over the years, while I'm sure the other staff can pick up your responsibilities I don't think they'll be able to replace your personality. I'll miss our slightly passive aggressive interactions

I'm sorry to see you both go, both before Valentine's day which is rather convenient & suspicious timing and while I'm under my "blue screen errors". Piece of cr*p computer!

As I write to you both on mobile.....

@dunover, thanks for being you and for sending a salacious photo of the Pragmatic Play chair!

@conker, I want to extend my gratitude upon the help and contests you've provided during my computer peril!

Since going to the first page is too much work on mobile, is @Webzcas and @Nate taking over?

Much appreciated to your efforts and assistance in CM you two!

To save you looking Nate is also going.

I have not posted here for in a long time but I have seen how CM went from being the only trusted place online to what it is now - a massive affiliate site which seems to allow any casino to sign up. It lost its family homely feel, and the gambling world changed radically with the UKGC destruction of what was at one time a highly self regulating industry and then the rise of crypto casinos - which I have tried and stepped back from a long time back.

These days I do an occasional deposit into 3dice and nothing more anywhere. And to see the likes of Dunover Conker and Mark (formally known as 32red rep) exit shows just how far the forum has fallen. I wish those who have left only the best.

I remember back in the days (I joined back in 2008) how much fun it was - the old days where casinos did not treat you as a number and CM always had your back in case something went wrong which tbh I only ever had 1 major issue which was resolved through CM within a week. It just aint the same anymore and has taken what I feel is a major turn which is not for the best. When CM sold out - which I can fully understand for his own reasons, I kind of knew the writing was on the wall but sad to see how far this site has now fallen. Dunover has been a voice for years, I have not always agreed with everything he said and the same with Conker but a good voice nonetheless.

I remember always thinking how grateful I was that CM was not an AG type site - but these days hard to tell the two apart. But all good things end - and the online casino world these days is a monster i do not understand or connect with at all. But GL to those who have left (or were pushed).

I'm liking all these very loaded posts for their well wishes of course, it doesn't necessarily mean i feel the same way about how the forum has fallen though?! Just for the record...

To me it still feels like home, and yes any of these fantastic members, reps and mods that would leave (although to me it seems that is not 100% clear yet, as in - most announced they will at least stick around in a limited capacity) would indeed be a great loss, but there are also a ton of cool peeps left, all with a combined shitload of casino-related experience, good humour, and general good vibes, from all over the place!

So i wouldn't compare it yet to the likes of AG or w/e comes close these days...
That said - yes please stay lads! And: if you're reading along oh great new leadership -please reconsider!
We'll gladly settle for less comps, if that would help :p

I have a job for either of you if you wish to send me your credentials? I have been overloaded with valentines cards and I need someone to reply to them in a delicate manour. The job should only take up about a month of your time.
Some included very choice pics and there may be an option to fill ya boots

Colin you are overthinking it mate - all you need is a set of raffle tickets, then put one of these in your front window

Wow what a shock - two valuable members thrown under the bus essentially.

That is what corporate greed unfortuntely is these days. Members of staff are just a number of commodity to be disposed off as when the higher ups feel like it.

Thanks for the hard work @dunover

Believe it or not I am grateful this thread and the contributions to it have come to pass. The reality is that most of the criticisms here are pretty much spot on, at least insofar as things currently stand, and for better or worse I’m relieved to have all this out in the open.

The truth is that Casinomeister is changing, has already to some extent, and there’s not much point in pretending that isn’t the case, or that it’s all cosmetic and everything is glorious. It’s not all “business as usual” and the sooner we grapple with that the better.

That said, the bottom line is the industry itself has been toughing it out through some seismic changes and much of that hasn’t been for the better. Layoffs, selling off assets, restructuring: those are all indications that a company — which, let’s be honest, justifies its existence by making money — is battling through some rough days. Our parent company is one of those affected by those industry upheavals and it has had to make some hard decisions to maintain profitability. We’re told that the recent cuts here at Casinomeister are part of that. Nobody wanted it, most of us hoped the storm would pass over and leave us unscathed. Well it didn’t, and here we are.

Those of you that have known Casinomeister for some years now you may well look at us and say “ah, gone to the dogs” and think it’s a terminal condition. “The glory days are gone”, “the bean-counters have taken over”, “it’s all about the Benjamins now”, and so forth. Trust us, we’ve heard it all, probably thought some of those things ourselves in our darker moments. But how true is all that, and is the end a foregone conclusion?

My vote, FWIW, is no. No doubt we’ve taken some damage, been shuffled a little too far in directions we don’t believe are right, even been asked to do a thing or two that we have had objections to. But, BUT, at the heart of these forums is still the old crew, still the guys that believe rather a lot in what Bryan championed back in the old days: fairness for all, honesty about who is and who isn’t dealing squarely with players, no BS for money. And we haven’t tossed in the towel just yet.

The near future is going to be the real test for the Casinomeister crew that remains. Can we address some of the serious issues that our readership warn us about — shoddy sites with too high ratings, casinos that ignore player issues and suffer no consequences for it, Reviews that are out of date and misleading — or have we already lost the game? My point is that we’re fighting the good fight, we hope and plan to do better, and so far at least the new ownership has been giving us the same directive they’ve given us from the beginning: “be Casinomeister”.

So, unless the troubles in the industry prove insurmountable we believe that we can and will return Casinomeister to the values and practice that brought many of you here in the first place. It’s been a tumultuous time these last few years — before and after acquisition — but we ARE still here and still very much committed to the Casinomeister project.

- Max

The industry has changed beyond recognition, the fun has been totally zapped out of playing in the UK. There used to be, and still is a wonderful crowd of people on here, some of whom I’ve known for many years.

Personally I think Bryan operated the best place along with all the staff and clearly the new outfit was never going to work. Since the change of ownership as others have also stated it doesn’t feel homely, personal and feels more corporate, which it has to be, given it was sold to that company.

I think there could be room for a brand new place that deals with wider issues outside of the UK market focus, it would only work if someone like Bryan cements its core on the old days of non-bias, genuine, say it as it is philosophy. CM was head and shoulders above the rest as it was such an advocate for fair play and its membership made it such a great ship to be aboard.

Rob :)

With all due respect Max, the company saying they are struggling for profitability is utter bollocks
All of us who work in the industry know that. There is a LOT of money to be made in this game, and I can't even guess how much the Casinomeister brand must be pulling in, but I know it's got to be pretty mega.

I've only just come across this thread and was shocked & saddened to see that @dunover & @conker are leaving the team :(

I know nothing lasts forever, but it's such a great shame that it has all come to an end in the last couple of years.
Especially the Casinomeister annual meeting in London - I think I attended all bar one right from the very start back in 2006? I miss those meet-ups and chatting with you guys, and the great guys from the operators too. I miss you so bad it almost brings a tear to my eye - it really does 😢

Hey-ho, what can you do?
My business is virtually dead now - only Casino Rewards, of all people, are still bringing in a few beans
Most of the rest have died, cut me off or are just not paying what they owe 🤬

Still, sort of retired already & will get my state pension from July ;)

They can keep that fricking bus-pass though... :D

TBH, from what I’ve been told — I’ve never actually seen the books — CM is still making money but not buckets like the old days. Also it’s not widely known that the staff the new owners have thrown at the Casinomeister project — entirely on the Wordpress side (+ management) it must be said — would stagger a horse. For all I know their salaries may well obliterate any profitability. I have no reason to think I’ve been lied to or misled but hey, wouldn’t be the first time. For now and until I have reason to believe otherwise I’m taking them at their word.

Long time without posting here but I cant forget during my last period at CM working together with @conker and @dunover. Both of you show me profesionalism and ultra-senior value (sorry not.saying you are dinosaurs) in industry knowedge. Was a pleasure to work with you. About remaining staff max, gourd and webcaz, keep pushing and as Maxd wrote some posts above, they are still on the boat and keeping the bones of Casinomeister philosophy ( at least forum side). Salut and Carpe.diem.

Trust me - I was only a tiny little minnow in a very big pond - but being an affiliate set me up for a very comfortable life (with massive credit to CM himself) for which I am eternally grateful
Big boys like Casinomeister must be pulling in 100s or 1,000s times as much as me!

I really hope our paths will cross again... but god only knows where or when...?

Mark.

You'd be surprised I think Mark, just look at the number of one man/woman band affiliates that have left the space having not sold up for eye watering amounts.

I dare say Bryan could have got a lot more if he decided to sell ten years ago rather than 18 months ago. Hence the nature of the industry, it is changing and has been for a good dozen years.

I also echo what Max has posted above.

While we are still here on the forum being employed to help manage and run it, we will try to do so in the manner that Bryan showed us and would want.

Bit of a belated contribution to this thread from me but sorry to hear about this both @dunover and @conker

For my money you've both done a great job of moderating on the forums and helped keep the site and forums running smoothly, striking the right balance between letting people crack on and having a yap about things, whilst also stepping in when required to keep it all civil.

As a slight aside here, nearly three years ago I lost my Dad and posted a couple of videos about it over in my long-running thread in one of the sub-forums (the gambling link was me dealing admirably well with the stress and grief of the whole affair by hitting the pubs and digital slot cabinets :D ).

Anyway, (and hope this is OK to post), during the midst of it all dunover took the time to send me a couple of long PMs with his sympathy, advice, and some experiences of his own. It's no secret that me and dunover have had quite a few.... erm.... 'public disagreements' on the forums about politics and Brexit and whatnot. To my mind it was never personal or hateful and I'd always hoped dunover was in the same space with it, for me it was a couple of blokes having a Mrs Merton style heated debate like they might have in the pub over a few pints.

It was a really shit period in my life and it's at times like that a bit of kindness and understanding can go a long way, and dunover's PMs very much fell into that category - and that's always stayed with me, so thank you for that Daz.

Anyway, all the best to both of you for the future chaps, and hopefully you'll stick around on the forums regardless :)

I took on Mrs Patel across the road who reads the swordid scribblings with relish and tries to inform me about the poses that these wimmin are making in those pictures. And they are all much less attractive than she is. I love her Paneer Tikkas she gives me but I must plan ahead for next years duties.

The sad truth is that most big companies now are moving over to AI even more and it would not surprise me if they will replace all moderation duties to AI mod accounts. Yeah they might speak and sound a bit human at times and in some cases hard to tell if they are human or not.

But I am guessing that might be what the future of this once great forum will become just a forum ran by AI bots.

I have now not gambled for 1 month and I do not plan on gambling anytime soon.

Is this AI DreamRJ or the real one? ;)

As you probably know these forums have long been the primary drawing card of the site. Given how people generally feel about trying to get meaningful help and guidance from AI bots I would suggest that the day us mods are put out to pasture and replaced by bots will likely be the day that Casinomeister will have embarked on a whole different mission than has been the case for the past 27 years. I’m not saying it won’t happen but if and when it does you’ll be visiting a very different site than you are today.

I think a lot of people have quit.

Who can afford to play on 90-94% slots with no loyalty or good bonuses anymore?

The industry has ruined itself by greed. First it was cutbacks on loyalty, then more wager on bonuses, then max cashouts on bonuses. And then the nail ..allowing casinos to lower rtp.

Sure there is money to be made from addicts/high rollers but alot of recreational players have quit which kept a steady flow of income.

I play 10% of what I used to and have zero loyalty towards any casino because every single casino I know tries to treat me as a personal ATM. They EXPECT me to deposit and lose and if I win, they cause issues.

Anyone I met (which is hundreds) who gambled online have all quit and moved onto other things.

Casinos used to do everything to keep a player. Heck casinos used to send me food baskets and stuff. Or send me a nice email. Or send me a nice big no deposit bonus. Casinos I was winners and losers in.

I havent seen anything like that in 7 years.

Casinos seem to only focus on two areas now. How to screw the player over. Focusing on lowering rtp, focusing on terrible terms and then finding ways to delay payments to you reverse and lose it back or just simple not pay. Secondly, fake money streamers who do $5-$20 spins all day everyday and reel in addicts and low IQ degenerates.

If I dare get on a hot streak on a casino..I instantly get bonus banned, casino banned and treated like I am a thief. the industry despises people who cash out. They take it personally.

Its weird and its turned to shit.

I'm a bit late sharing my thoughts/sentiments on this thread.

Mr D, I say it, nobody else has said it and I say it from the bottom of my heart....

You were a lousy moderator

OK I'M JESTING!!!

In all seriousness, I thank you sincerely and greatly for your vast contributions to this forum over the past decade and a bit.
This forum will definitely be a lesser/poorer place without your presence gracing* it.

* Dunover and grace being used in the same sentence....WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT?!?!?!?
(see what I did there, Mr D?) :p

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading/watching/listening to the slot reviews, the gameplay videos*, the alarmingly frequent bouts of farting (your audible reaction to some of the er....humdingers made me chuckle  ), the pre-Bonanza feature rituals involving the making and lighting up of rollies, the wonderfully politically incorrect wit and sarcasm and last but by no means least, the joyful reactions when you landed a nice win. You were quite the entertainer and I thank you for it.

* Who could forget classic utterances such as.....

BULLLLLLLLLLLLLLL SHE ITTTTTT
STACK 'EM!!!
LAST SPIN NO WIN!!!
YOU F*CKPIG!
JACK QUEEN KING, JACK QUEEN KING
WHERE'S THE WILDS!?!
BOGUS WILD OVER REEL TWO
OH FACK ORF!!!
YOU PIECE OF SH1T
HAVE THAT YOU ORANGE BASTID
OH IT'S COME IN, WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT!!?!?!
THAT FEATURE WAS LIKE MY WIFE, AN INSTANTLY FORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE

In all seriousness though, ever since I joined CM, a forum with you in it is all I've ever known.
It's just not going to feel quite the same anymore, because (as I've already said) you were quite the entertainer, a real character with a big personality that is not going to be easily replaced around these parts.

Whatever you do, wherever you go in the future, be lucky good sir. I wish you all the best mate.
