General Election 2024 Thread

Lol… it’s a weird story anyway. The claim is that Starmer hired them but refused to pay, so they set fires in revenge. But there is apparently no evidence that Starmer hired them or refused to pay them, and the trial is about them being accused of arson involving Starmer’s properties and car. It’s also unclear publicly how police identified all three men.

Very wierd that they have been told not to take into account their motivation as that is an element of what forms the sentence?
Seems to be a lot of protection going on but maybe we will learn more as time goes on?

I’d say intent is key elements in any crime, because it determines the seriousness of what was done.

There are no reporting restrictions so I am curious to see how the media report it. Interesting case. I guess that Mandelson/Epstiene types are involved in some way?

Trump is already wishing Starmer well, even though Starmer hasn't announced his resignation. Polls show that 19–23% of Britons view him favourably. To be fair, that's not too bad compared to Merz in Germany, who sits at 12%.

Like most elections in the west it will be an instillation in Germany rather than an election
