General Election 2024 Thread

It can and it will. When your own government does nothing to address it or condemn it, its basically encouraging it. Hell you even have some brits either defending it or making wild ass claims saying immigration isnt costly INSTEAD of being outraged over their own people people stabbed and raped.

So until that ridiculousness stops, the other crimes will not stop.

Germany was told by everyone not to let them in. They virtue signaled instead and allowed it Thousands of their own people dead and/or raped. And just now are starting to crack down and deport them.

You think the Uk would learn what is going on not too far from them. Nope. These morons only learn when its usually too late. Same thing with the UK. Give it a couple more years, same thing. Thousands raped and murdered and then the UK will have had enough.

Or will it? Your guys government is absolutely rotten to the core. The entire government. The brainwashed try and say "yeah but the conseravtives held power for a decade +) THE UK DOES NOT HAVE CONVERVATIVES. These are ALL liberal policies. All of them.

I can't disagree really. In terms of a country it saps people's enjoyment of life, simple things. These negative effects aren't even recognised by the liberal media and commentators.

How can you be genuinely positive, looking forward to your children/families' future, when at the same time reading about wheelchair disabled being murdered with a machete. And it doesn't even register a comment or reaction in parliament.

It will take a person(s) to step forward and lead, I hope it could be Nigel, they will face massive opposition from the system, but if things have declined even further they'll struggle to justify the status quo of failed liberal policy to a growing angry, disenchanted public.

If not we're *****d.

Starmer is staying with King Charles at Balmoral, as it's a tradition before parliament restarts.

But I thought the way the bbc worded this last paragraph, in an article on their website today, was interesting, haven't seen them explain it this way before, I suspect Charles will have more to say and input than the queen.

"When Parliament is sitting, the King and prime minister meet for a private weekly audience to discuss government matters.

While the King is politically neutral, he is, according to the Royal Family's website, "able to 'advise and warn' his ministers - including his prime minister - when necessary".

Edit: Also I wonder whether the IOM (owned by the crown) will follow suit with Starmer and seek to restrict smoking outdoors, I've a feeling they won't. With the TT races embraced, they don't strike me as a namby-pamby place, obsessed with health and safety, somebody dies doing that race every year. Maybe Chopley could comment as the resident manx expert?

Look at New York! That was one of the best cities to visit. I went with my girlfriends about 10 years ago. I wouldnt dare go there now nor do I have any interest. Another city ruined by shitty democratic politicians.

Heck, i dont even like going into Toronto anymore but I have no choice. I do my best to stay away from everything. Straight to meetings/work and leave right away. I wont eat, walk or engage with that city at all anymore.

Even 45 minutes north of Toronto is getting bad here. Some of these immigrants and gangs are violent and sex predators. Most of the girls at our hospitals carry pepper spray now (in case we have a run with a vicious dog of course!)

These people are pulling up to gas stations in daylight, ripping Canadians out of their cars, beating them up and stealing their cars here. Or sexually assaulting them on their walks to work. When the police catch them, they arrest them but the liberal judges here release them all on bail. Then they go and do it again and again.

A pile of police chiefs here have come out in public statement calling out the Trudeau government. Demanding they stop releasing rapists and violent criminals on bail. For whatever reason, Trudeau ignores them and continues to tell judges to let them back into society.

Nah, I’ve seen that before. The interesting thing is that they rarely exercise their power - when Boris lied to her maj a few years ago in order to illegally close parliament, she could’ve sacked him and his government there and then, but far better to let him hoist himself by his own petard.

On the bbc, worded that way? At the start of a new govt/PM term?

If so, it would be good to have the link or quotation.

I think it is a little bit telling, not an earthquake moment, but Starmer can only go so far from the perceived middle line, the imprisonments of elderly women for Facebook posts is already over the line. (In my opinion)

Thankfully we have a really great option for Canada. This guy will be the next PM in Canada. The UK needs to find someone with brains now!!!

Looking at the candidates for new leader of the conservative party, and sadly none are like this straight talking fella. Oh dear. Perhaps once he's in, it will have a domino effect.

He reminds me a little of Jacinta Arden. When she burst onto the scene she gave a really touching speech after the Christchurch terror attack and gained the respect of most of the world . But then during the pandemic she became a WEF Nazi.

I hope that he doesn't turn out to be just the same as her.

And she has bigger balls than me.

He calls out the WEF, he calls out the gender idealogy, he calls out giving money to other countries, he doesnt attend the gay parade pandering bs stuff. he will cut immigration, no men in womans sports, no mens in womans bathrooms etc. He is strong on crime and deportation.

He is a true conservative. Do I trust politicians? No. But he seems legit.

As ive said before, what they will do is take from education and healthcare (possibly) to cover funding elsewhere. Thats pretty much their only negative. And thats just me judging from prior conservative leaderships. So we shall see!!

Im just happy we have hope here and that Trudeau is getting demolished in every single poll by every single outlet. We are still just over a year away. The damage this clown Trudeau is doing in the meantime is going to leave the conservatives an absolute disaster to clean up. Hopefully the middle class can recover. They will be swamped in debt by that time.

From what I have seen he keeps tearing Castro a new one and Castro having very little in response. It does make a change from governments opposition not really being an opposition, like in the UK.

Here is Freeland talking about Ukrainian corruption before the cocaine took over

Dont you find Trudeau to be such a little wimp though lol? Like..his responses to Pierre in the House of Commons are ridiculous. He looks like hes going to cry, he starts yelling and sounds like a wimp. He also just ignores him and starts ranting about absolutely nothing

Yeah Ive seen those clips of her. She is either on some type of drug or stages of something like Parkinsons or Tourette's or some other ailment.

Tourette's causes twitching like this and sniffing. But so does Cocaine/meths LOL

Id like to think our politicians arent doing drugs lol

I think she was recently diagnosed with having a condition called Jacksparrowitus :P

Everyone loves Trudeau here! hahaha!

Woman to go on trial for buying a box of eggs!

Yep, arming rioters apparently. The distress pieces of eggshell caused serving police officers and bogus refugees was immense. Special counselling has been initiated for witnesses. She will go on trial next February. There will be a press scramble to report on it no doubt, public boiling at the waste of money..

The police poached an elite squad from special services who scrambled to Manchester to arrest her before breakfast and during her interigation only offered her porridge :(

Anyone notice how the reports in the press about these "rioters" often includes the street where they live and never include the street that serious illegal criminals /asylum seekers live that are out on bail?

They just want to make an eggsample of her that is all. The chickens have come home to roost in her case.

This is 3 years out of date so god knows what the figures are now? Social housing in the UK
Many years ago I separated from my wife and went to the council requesting a two bed flat as my kids wished to spend their time with us equally. They said no and if I wanted a council flat there was a 10 year waiting list. Due to the large amount of maintenance I was paying my ex I could not afford to rent a two bedroom place so I was snookered.
In the UK the housing system does not cater for separated families which has a terrible impact on the kids and the one who is not the main child carer.
In places like Norway the law states that the parent leaving the family home gets a two/three bedroom place as well as the automatic right to share the children 50/50.
The UK system is set up to ruin society.

Somebody I knew was given a 1 bedroom flat, which was a converted bedsit (they stuck in a partition wall) and he had a teenage daughter. That would've been 2007 ish, so way before all these extra waves of immigration since.

They're building blocks and blocks of apartments (flats) near me now, it's all about maximising profit for the land owner and then builder. Every little bit of land, there's no real town plan and makes the area look overbuilt and congested.

Generally, social housing is organised and administered along the lines of 'beggars can't be choosers', rather than something a lot will have to rely on, due to wages and housing demand pushing up prices.

I'm sorry but without the bloated immigration we'd have been fine and dandy, we have a bigger population than france yet their country is more than twice the size.

How can our government, the opposition, our media, international governments or world courts not strongly condemn the rape, buggery-often to death with metal objects- Israeli treatment of prisoners? Most not even charged with anything? Even the Israeli politicians, media and public support it.

He could've found a compromise, some sort of fairer means test or reduce the payment, at least that would be better than a blanket swipe.

I think the basic state pension is £8,800 per annum, so there can't be an awful lot left if you have to pay full rent to a landlord, plus council tax.

A sensible budget for a supermarket bill would be around £50 per person per week@£2,500. Roughly leaving you £100 p/w for all other expenses.

If we get a bad winter, he's going to go down as an even bigger you know what.

Looks like Keir Stalin's plans are slowly coming together, as his dream of killing off pensioners continues unabated, with the controversial bill now passed. Because after all, it's a win-win to rid himself of those Tory/ Remainer voters!

You know the ones - those that had their own struggles in their youth, likely worked most of their lives, paid into the system and now sit on mountains of gold, Scrooge McDuck-style as they hoard their ill-gotten wealth from the youth!

Pretty good plan, as is the idea that insurgents and newly released druggie criminals will pledge their fielty to Labour, with one stating: "I'm just elated right now. I'm gonna get lit"

So there goes the Winter Fuel payment, as this current shower imagine some pie-in-the-sky financial black hole whilst paying off the Unions. Pensioners shmensioners! pah!

I can't quite imagine how the labour voting pensioners must feel right now, esp if they lean very left. (Talk about thatcher the milk snatcher, Starmer is the warmth harmer 🫢)

Reeves, Starmer and co give off a distinct sanctimonious air, all the while their decisions conflict with basic morality and common sense.

Letting out career criminals to literally make room for first time offenders guilty of thought crime on facebook.

One tory MP (his name escapes me but been in parliament for yonks) said this blackhole is effectively an accounting detail, with the annual budget being 1200 billion it's not hard to mislay 22 by doing the figures differently or wrong I guess.

In any case, this measure has clawed back 0.1% of total expenditure (1.2 billion) and probably condemned 4,000 to their grave or a worsening health situation.

"I'm not going to sway away from difficult decisions, it's easy to be popular...." aka you're going to get austerity on steroids whether you like it or not.

Could they have just not excluded the folk owning say a £800,00+ property, is the govt not capable of digitally doing this on their computerised system. (Which in itself probably costs a lot to run)

Another aspect is some of that 1.2b would be spent onwards in the economy, shopping etc..acting as a sort of Keynesian measure.
Non food Retail is struggling as it is, and every little counts.

The budget is going to be interesting, I suspect the motorist and drinkers to be hammered (haha pun alert!).

One tory MP (his name escapes me but been in parliament for yonks) said...
Oh come on! There's only about 3 of them left!

It’s really odd that Sunak et al are performative so against it, when it was a Sunak idea in his leadership manifesto.

And again, what’s the alternative? It’s not being removed. It’s being means-tested. Maybe some tweaks to the means test will be necessary, but if something needs to be cut, why not cut something that is not needed by all recipients?

9 million pensioners are now not going to receive it, I find it hard to believe all of them are so well off that they won't miss this help with winter heating costs.

And putting it in layman's numbers, you're asking what's the alternative, in a budget of £1200, to finding other cuts instead of this £1.20.

I think a better means test must be doable, even labour research has pointed out 4,000 are going to be in deep trouble.

Tories should have suggested this as an amendment (if they didn't) but even then labour mps risk being kicked out of the party if they voted for it.

I bet Labour MP's are desperate for a follow up plandemic so that they can line their pockets.

If there was lots of corruption during the covid lockdowns, it also doesn't say much for labour's role as opposition.

I remember the millennium Dome being built, the costs and delays were examined in great detail and with press coverage. (Cost 789mil;today 1.73 b)

But we could've built 10 domes for what we wasted on unusable or unused ppe, it's utter madness the expense all slipped through with no oversight.

This fukcer should be in prison and Michelle Mone too alongside so many others.

This below is an insult to the whole country

Reform is such a vague word when it comes to the nhs, why not say change if it's currently near death.

It's clear morale is pretty low, and comparing it to say the army or navy, the thing that's missing or different is leaders, a chain of command.

There are none in the nhs, we need a chief surgeon, nurse, GP etc ..that are known to the public and have status.

But also maybe the nhs is just up against the broader effect of mass migration and health tourists seeking free care, so no amount of recommendations made in reports will rectify that.

This is not news, or at least, not new news. Private Eye have been covering this for ages.

Once the writing was on the wall that Labour were going to win the GE, all kinds of corporate interests have been cosying up to them, and being very 'generous' with gifts, in return for which of course they'll be expecting favours.

Corbyn, who everyone used to love vilifying for all kinds of essentially made up reasons, was famously incorruptible in this regard, never taking any sort of corporate money/gifts, and was also one of the very few MPs who came out of the Expenses Scandal back in 2009 completely clean, because he was claiming basically fuck-all, and anything he did claim was clearly and directly related to work in his constituency.

In one three month period he claimed..... £8.70p for an ink cartridge for his constituency office printer.

If you want an answer for why so much of the media, and indeed so much of the Labour Party, were intent on destroying Corbyn, it's because the prospect of a politician who was incorruptible and couldn't be bought off in any capacity whatsoever, was quite a scary proposition.

And instead, the country chose Boris Fucking Johnson.

Corbyn, Tony Ben, The Beast of Bolsover where true labour.

In that expenses scandal, the worst by far for me was not the trough-feeders claiming carpets or duck sheds or adult movies in hotels (thay are just typical, weak indulgent wankers like most politicians, pretty par for the course) but the Labour MP (cannot recall his name) who claimed 4 or £5 for a donation he dropped in a RBL poppy collection box.

What a complete, utter cunt. I shouldn't need to explain the reasons why this was a whole scale of magnitude worse than the other cases.

Maybe the total lack of humanity and compassion?
Most people who wish to run for office should be barred from running for office because of it.

We have a very real and very serious issue with our current 'Two Tier' justice and policing system.

People are being fast tracked through the courts and being given very strong and long jail sentences for daring posting on social media.

Yet Huw Edwards has just been handed a 6 month sentence which is suspended for possessing indecent images of children...
