For the last several days, every second new window I open, or move to a different page on an open website on Chrome I get this Trojan warning...

Slickfluide.jpg

I have run a full system scan, which found nothing - even though it's the same anti-virus which is throwing up the warning(???), and found nothing with a Google search.

Can anyone advise how to get rid of this annoying pop-up?

Cheers, KK

id normally download and run malware bytes free edition for something like this let it scan and quarantine could take a while for scan if not used before,

and glarrys utilities is very good for looking at your browsers to see and remove things you dont want,

Ahh, .exe viruses. I remember botching up my registry keys one time so that I couldn't actually open applications anymore. Was a right bummer that was

Oh yeah, when i was a PC guy, i remember going through deleting registry keys manually. Now, given it takes me 10 minutes to change a light bulb, you can imagine how many times I had to restore the entire operating system:eek2:

My entire tech know how set out below is rather limited but hopefully the staff forum experts can help, pereblue, simmo, robdev?

a). How about taking your pc back to an earlier 'restore' point before this problem started? b). possibly, save/export your bookmarks, delete chrome and re install it? Or c). uninstall/disable that anti virus and use a different one, bit defender has been quite decent for me and it's free.

I used to have Bitdefender free, but a few years back they decided to remove the option to add exclusions.
And as you know all antivirus and antimalware see some casinos as a virus, so I had to remove it.
Did they add exclusions again to the free edition?

As for the problem I would also suggest Malwarebytes together with the antivirus you use.
Something else (probably not related), my pc had a huge update this weekend, took a few hours. Did you get that?

Does this only happen with Chrome? Not with FF or other browsers?

Is the problem similar to this:
You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.

Don't know for certain if they exclude exclusions from the free version, it never seemed to block casinos for me, I think yes you could add sites to a safe list, but I had to remove it recently [bitdefender] because it was doing something odd and failing to update properly, normally I just reinstall the latest version and am good to go but been a bit lazy and complacent and left the inbuilt microsoft windows defender to do its thang which is probably letting all and sundry trojans and keyloggers onboard

Microsoft 'Defender' is the worst. I'd feel safer allowing Indian call-centre scammers pretending to be from the IRS remote access my laptop

just checked mine now, it's meant to do a daily scan at 2am but the last scan was on the 15 june??? I've just kicked off a full scan, and it says it might take a few hours :eek2: I thought bill gates was meant to be some sort of tech master guru

I think knowing microsoft it's probably more interested in spying on me than actually ejecting miscreant software and trojans

I remember being handed down my mate's archaic PC when he got a new one. After a couple of months' heavy usage I finally relented and thought I'd treat myself to a full av scan via some ropey download site.

I did watch bemusedly as it racked up well in excess of 500 'problems'. Namely, a screen chocka with the likes of:

trojan

trojan

spyware

trojan

malware

etc etc

Oh how I laughed

I actually do remember battling one persistent nasty trojan on my parent's pc in about 2003  the virus scan [norton]wouldn't even start, it stopped you moving your mouse, the cursor would just disappear, if you quickly managed to open the internet explorer to research viruses/get help, new page tabs would just keep opening, and pages freeze so you couldn't use the internet at all..but old mack had a few tricks up his tech nerd sleeves  booting the computer into safe mode stopped the trojan loading and then I could deep virus scan that baby  and quarantine the virulent pest

Yep - only with Chrome.

Malwarebytes Professional is what I have - it is that which is throwing up the message.

I have submitted a "ticket" to them - will wait to see what they say about it before trying any of the other fixes people have suggested.

Thanks for all the replies everyone!

I would do a scan with Avast free while waiting, it can't hurt (I have it together with MBAM pro).

Heres what I would do. Do the scans in safe mode, malware bytes is good also maybe try spybot search and destroy, (make sure to update the apps and definitions first) while in safe mode uninstall and delete all traces of chrome and any related google software, once cleaned and rebooted do a clean reinstall of chrome.

If the problem still persists, look into system restore you may be able to roll back to a time before it was on the computer , and failing that my last resort would be a full windows reinstall, drastic I know but guaranteed to 100% work.

I would also advise adblock/ublock and noscript browser addons in future esp if browsing any sketchy websites or any with ads.
