Although it does seem this way I'm pretty sure that would not only be illegal but really screw up the TRTP...

Probably because if you believe the odds of the gamble are genuine the worst you ever are is 50/50 on 8 to 12 after that it's 60/40 in your favour "allegedly". I would like to know how many feature gambles the testing lab did to authenticate it's "fairness". Considering the cross section of comments on here I would say it's questionable at best. I have only played it a handful of times myself and never gambled the feature due to comments on the forum.Personally I think the game is a bit like "JAWS 4" for btg.If You can't beat the original don't bother. Some points about this game.
1:When you trigger the bonus by either buying or landing naturally you could get extra spins +4s
2:It's a lot easier to bonus than Bonanza
3: It can retrigger
4:Most importantly Dunover made a good point in his Extra Chilli real play video when multiplier is at x15 for example you are effectively spinning a 3£ stake(on 20p bet).
So with all this in mind why do people bother gambling free spins they will more than likely lose?!

Play it long enough Dave you'll see it's nothing like you say. Some points about this game.

I am not sure what the exact rtp is supposed to be on either. To be honest the games I play most of the time are 96%ish that's near enough for me.I am guessing bonanza and extra chilli are about the same. What I am getting at is if the rtp is the same and the game is almost the same couldn't you be forgiven for thinking basically the feature comes up twice as often but for the long term rtp to remain correct on average they will only pay half as much?Theoretically is extra chilli just a way of covering up bonanzas imperfections and giving you the version as it should of played in hindsight without the need to remove bonanza while adjustments were made(only a thought).Because I know I'll never gamble the feature I'll happily play it. It's seemingly twice as easy to get the bonus on this than Bonanza so I'll be playing Bonanza a lot less now. That was the main reason I hardly played it.

With the former being the more likely but of course you will be met with things like"to get a true representation you have to gamble 1,000,000 features" or some bs.You're asking this on a gambling forum... full of gamblers.. who gamble.
And as @theapple says- 8 spins ain't likely to yield much.
Some day I'll check that blue "60/40" wheels probability because it's either crooked or I've been mighty unlucky (both possible).
That's a nice hit x720.They aren't going to be to common.I don't play it much best so far x100.Probably not anywhere near good enough but still wanted to share:
16 Spins (Gambled up from 8)
