EWalletExpress - Funds Seizure Confirmed

Forgive my ignorance, but surely this is a relatively old story? PDN broke it at the end of November last year?

The truth about the “technical issues” with eWalletXpress was given new light earlier this week when the payment processing company was served a warrant from the U.S. Government.

According to an article by SportsbookGurus.com, management at a major online gambling site confirmed that the warrant had been served and the seizures had already begun, although specific details have not been released. What we do know is that eWalletXpress will not be available for U.S. players until further notice.

Beginning on November 12th, eWalletXpress was suddenly unavailable to customers and the company blamed the shutdown on “technical issues.” Then, about a week later, merchants received the following e-mail from the company:

“We regret to inform you that we are no longer able to continue service at this time due to a federal warrant issued to seize our funds.”

On its website, eWalletXpress removed the “USA” option for new users attempting to make an account, leaving Canada as the only country to choose.

This is the first time EWE actually told the truth to it's "other" customers confirming what actually happened. Since there was nothing mentioned other than casino related websites, it is indeed confirmation for those, like myself, that wanted to hear the truth from the actually source.

It STILL stinks. If there was a confidentiality requirement, WHY were they so quick to reveal the truth to OPERATORS, yet LIE to ordinary customers for a further 2 months. They were even accepting new registrations from Canada for two months, even though they could NEVER have serviced their accounts given the situation.

Even when the information was leaked to players, they STILL lied to players who asked about the long term technical issues, and went as far as to PRETEND to accept and process withdrawal requests.

This is going to make matters VERY difficult for the rest of the industry, as NO player who knows about the EWX case is going to believe any other eWallet or operator who says they have "technical issues" that prevent them from processing withdrawals as fast as promised.

Rushmore are in a similar situation. They had a "massive system failure" that has taken far too long to fix if it really WERE just a "system failure". Nearly everybody believes the true problem at Rushmore is that they don't have the money to pay everybody, and have to wait for more to be deposited before they can make further payments. They deny this of course, just like EWX denied their funds had been seized for 2 months when DIRECTLY asked by customers.

This culture of lying to players could claim Rushmore as it's victim, even if this is REALLY just a major technical issue, rather than lack of funds.

The only bright spot for US players is the bit about them being "in negotiations". This happened with Neteller, and was followed by a VERY SLOW return of player funds, along with hefty fines for Neteller.
EWX may go the same way, hefty fines, return of money to US customers, and an undertaking to stay out of the US market. The process should also free up the funds of Canadian players, but they probably won't trust EWX after this.

I've been trying to keep on top of this as it has slowly evolved. Thank goodness I didn't open an account with them (I thought their fees were too hefty), but I feel for those who have been caught up in all of this and I sincerely hope they do eventually see their winnings.

Now, from what I was understanding from dominiques' post...some of the casinos are having difficulty paying players because they are waiting for the "deposits/money" from EWX to come through? So, if this is the case, then the casinos aren't truly at fault as they "credited" player accounts on the premise of recouping the money from the ewallet, correct? So then, it's the trickle down or ripple effect...casino waits to be paid money from ewallet(but can't collect because funds have been seized) to pay winners who DIDN'T use ewalletxpress --OR--casino pays winners to ewalletxpress accounts but players can't collect because ewalletxpress funds have been seized.

With this mirror-image NeTeller debacle, does anyone truly feel "safe" using any ewallet? And the ewallets who ARE currently servicing players from the US, will the casinos start waiting until the funds have cleared before giving the okay to play instead of using the "credit" system? This could mean players may have to wait days for the wire transfer to clear from the ewallet to the casino before they can play. Or do you think more casinos will just give up and close their doors to US players altogether(like MGs did), thinking it isn't worth the hassles of trying to keep the US player base for now and maybe jeopardizing future relations if they can figure out a way to irradicate the UIGEA?

That's what irritates me the most, the outright lying to customers.

Also, for those with a transaction to/from a casino, the funds mysteriously disappeared and EWE told the customers to contact the casino! Like the casino had something to do with it! More lies and frustration.

I still don't understand why a rep/manager/whatever couldn't state what was really going on.

Quote from EWX website:

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Due to the sensitivity of the situation we were not able to notify you earlier and we do sincerely appologize again for any inconvenience you may have suffered.

To me this is another lie. They informed their merchants within a week of this happening. How sensitive could it have been if they could notify their merchants? I guess it was only sensitive and confidential to the customers.

Another thing I noticed, it used to state on one of the Bloomberg sites the CEO and President as being Vincent McLeod and CFO as Emanuel Bettencourt but now there is no one listed in these positions. I have checked a few of US Government websites, and there is still nothing on any of them.

I guess now we just have to wait it out. Nothing else we can do.

All the best,
LH

It will take many months to get your money out most likely. Took forever with neteller.

I've published this a long time ago on my site, and I also shared here.

It is exactly what happened at neteller, at first the wallet cites difficulties but is not allowed to publicize the event.
