ok I know it's a stupid question - RNGs don't care if you feel lucky or unlucky, right? But is it possible that you play differently if you "have a feeling"?? Like "I'm going to lose anyhow so I'll just stay playing this one stupid game that's not paying out until my deposit is gone."

The past month or so I've been getting killed - my deposits have been sucked up almost instantly, and free bonuses I've gotten are even worse. I'm even doing horrible in the free tourneys. Basically I go in now with the attitude that I'm going to lose, that chances are that I'll never get my balance to be more than my original deposit....and that's exactly what happens!

People have said, "Oh I don't play when I feel unlucky. You have to play with a positive attitude."

Personally all it would take is one big fat win to give me a positive attitude again, but I'm curious what others think.

omg chayton

I did that very same thing today lol. I was in a crappy mood and played. I was losing as usual and just played it out because I played out of boredom instead of interest.

You could be right because if I would of exited the casino rather than just play, maybe I would of hit something later on

I do not think it applies just to slots or online......No mathematical or scientific explanation but for whatever reason more than the majority of my big runs (6 figure wins) in a B & M have been within the first 24 hours where I walk into the casino with a positive expectation and attitude, then as the days (as most of my trips are over 2 weeks) and grind go on and variance starts to meet expectation or worse, I sometimes expect to lose and lose....I then have to stop and wait a few days and hope I get that feeling back and not gamble if I don't feel it....I also will play short sessions and take a small victory just because I need my confidence back that you can win after being destroyed....This is really all meaningless and just fodder but it is how I mentally cope with the grind and when things are not going well.....Btw, I checked out your Myspace page and I am now flirting with you:D

I'm a firm believer in Karma. If you are spending your time and money gambling instead of putting it to use in a better way that you know you should be doing, you're going to lose. It's best to gamble only when you have the time and money to spare.

That said ... I tend to only win when I (a) least expect it, and (b) least need it. Obviously it's not the RNG controlling that, I think it's a greater force... karma.

Also, karma cannot be fooled either. You can't spend a solid week doing good things if you are thinking to yourself "I just KNOW this will bring me good luck when I do get to play". Nope, it doesn't work like that.

a good attitude can help determine how you play. making good decisions, not throwing caution to the wind, etc. a good attitude cannot determine outcome. feeling "lucky" can wipe you out. there were many men who felt "lucky" and had "positive" attitudes when they fought mike tyson. look what happened to them.:)

I know it doesnt matter but i am sure i have worse luck when in a bad mood.

Also, i NEVER hit a big win when i am watching the spins closely. It is always when i glance at the tv or go to the bathroom when it hits.

PS- Then i have to GO BACK to the bathroom.:)

I totally agree with this - I win when I least need to win too.

However, isn't it possible that if you least need it, you play differently?

Like say if you deposit the last $20 of your gambling budget and play a game, if doesn't win in the first few spins, you leave and try another game. If it's not your last $20 and you got lots of money in the bank, you keep playing and you're down to $3 and hit a jackpot. (That's happened to me)

Or you don't need to stretch your playtime out cause there's more in the bank - so you bet higher, and if you actually hit something, it's something more substantial, you win $300 instead of $30.

Anyhow thanks all for your responses, I was just curious what other people thought. And ;) @ Nash

Babs....I hope your luck (and mine!) improves soon!

Very interesting question and I'll say yes. Resoundingly. Certainly not for the .2 and .4 consistent roller, but if you move your bet size, you will do it by mood as the RNG is rng after all :)

Try this just for giggles: If you deposit $100 on average, skip a couple of sessions - make a mental note or deposit the new higher balance - now forget about 20 lines at a penny each (I think I recall you play RTG?) Make your first bet total $5 all lines, throw caution to the wind. What's your balance? feeling lucky? have 25 profit? bet five lines at $5 each... this session could be shortlived, but it's entertainment and the potential of the 'big one' you're after right? Go make a sandwich, tell yourself you haven't won anything for along time anyway and at least you may have a chance this way... it could happen, you can lose in a hurry too:)
Go for the gusto! (rarely works on all 20 lines, only do that if you have over a grand or so and stop when you get to your 'floor' $500? $1000? whatever... just don't play all lines if you want to win)

Keep in mind the max payout of 8kx? max win per line (40k all lines bet at $5) and don't push the river.

It might add some excitement to your play.

Yes, mood affects wins if you don't bet in a steady fashion. Feeling lucky? Be good to yourself if you try this a few times, and for crying out loud, quit when you're ahead:)

Actually I play RTG/Microgaming/Rival/3Dice, even Playtech on occasion. My biggest wins have been from Microgaming tho.

I actually tried that "betting high and not all the lines" thing - in MG I do ok, but in RTG....ugh. After I read it here, maybe something that you mentioned..? I jacked up my bet and dropped the lines, I was playing Fruit Frenzy and hit 5 of a kind. But it wasn't on one of the lines I bet! :eek2: So no bonus for me. Of course I then bet all the lines and kept my bet high and got nothing...nothing...nothing.

In RTG especially, my luck is such that if DON'T bet all the lines, the winning line will appear on one I DIDN'T bet. Or if I've been betting high and then I'm getting low on funds, I lower my bet, and WHAM - I get a feature or a decent win. Or alternatively, I'm doing ok and then raise my bet and everything dries up completely.

But I'll try your advice again - next time I'm $25 up! Which hasn't happened for awhile.....sigh

ahhh, dang it! You have to close your mind's eye to the lines you don't bet! Wow, know what would have happened if those 5oak were on a pay line? You would have gotten the free spins at all 25 lines!

I know the feeling of not hitting when betting higher and getting it when lower... I just choose to remember the good times, so i feel like a winner whether i am or not :) It all works out the same in the end, but at least if you are controlling the variance, it feels like you're 'in control', and you stand a better chance of quitting as a winner. (if most deposits are lost anyway, why not increase the chance of a good win?)

Know what I'd suggest? Save up your next five or six deposits, get a fat sign-up bonus at MG and only play progressives that are chunkyripe :) You might end up with years long gambling mad money... and if you don't it will be easier to quit after staying away so long anyway, mixed wit the disappointment.

I guess what I'm saying is mood can matter, and mastery is the best mood :)

Goodluck:thumbsup:

Being tired, drunk, or negative affects how YOU play... not the slots. It affects your bet size and how long you will stay at a losing machine.

And there's sometimes when you just know you're going to hit something good..............

I know I bet different when I am upset or tired . Right after a nice win I am a bit more reckless also . Sometimes it pays and sometimes it doesn't .
