Question Curaçao licences and UK?

I know there's lots of threads involving the 1668/JAZ licence, but I'm stuck and need some things clearing up please.

If an online casino has just a 1668/JAZ licence, are they allowed to accept UK players at all? As I see it, they have to also have a UKGC licence? Am I wrong (because they're telling me I am!)

If they ARE allowed to operate in the UK with the Curaçao licence, then if you email them to self exclude, are they not supposed to honour that straight away? As instead they said they'd put a bonus on my account so I could make sure I really wanted to self exclude.

I've had a short email conversation with an absolute idiot from Spinup (I'm waiting on replies from a couple others), who says they're acting legally.

I saw on here that you can ask the bank to do chargebacks. I tried, because all the research I have done shows they're not allowed to take my bets, but Santander said no. I'm not overly bothered about the money, it's the principle if they're illegal.

I have bet and lost with hundreds of sites in the past, and I have never requested money back from any of them before, so it's not about that.

Can anyone help please?

As you’ve found though, you play somewhere not licenced where you are, you have few protections if something goes wrong.

With self-exclusion, what they’ve done is immoral.

If they won’t exclude you, my tip would be to change your password.

Jesus...these are fair racking up! The UKGC are clear enough on it "You must have a licence to offer gambling facilities to players from the UK". For instance, if you try and sign up with an MGA only licence you will be blocked from doing so.

However, Cuaracao is absolute bandit country. The slots are probably not even real licenced versions either. The providers offer only to casinos on the basis that they can only offer services to those caught under that licence.

That's a great idea, but I'd end up doing the forgot my password thing lol.

This is where the waters get muddy. Only Curacao have jurisdiction when dealing with the fact they are allowing others to sign up. The UKGC can make cases to them but there are no guarantees. The UKGC also state they cannot protect players who sign up elsewhere regardless if its 'illegal'.

Nope, no 1668/JAZ casino, nor any casino without a UKGC license, can accept UK players. They should geo-block UK and payment providers should not transfer your money to them although that is almost impossible to police. Alas these are criminal operations with fake slots, stolen software, crap terms will not pay bigger winners - many even have a rogue term where you cannot win and withdraw more than your combined deposits/losses or a small multiple thereof.

Your regulatory responsible gambling rights and rules, fair terms, advertising standards don't apply as the criminals are outside the reach of civilised jurisdictions. You're in a cesspit when you join them. SpinUp are RAF. It's a shame more people don't see this site:

There's nothing stopping you making debit card payments, but I believe Neteller and Skrill will no longer process payments to unlicensed casinos from UK players. This is the crux of the matter - starve the parasite and the parasite dies or moves on. If it was near impossible to get funds to the shithole casinos, they'd fuck-off altogether.

This is why I've always wanted some kind of law or mechanism whereby UK-resident casino deposits must have the UKGC license number in the transaction code. In other words all payment providers must check the legitimacy of the casino business before offering payment facilities, then we know funds can only go to UKGC sites. Obviously with Bitcoin and some of the vouchers people can pay with buying them with cash would be problematic, but aside from Bitcoin even that could be addressed if made illegal. yeah, dream on Dunover - but it may yet happen.

They would have paid to a 3rd party provider making it look legit. Who then forward funds to the merchant/casino.

I agree that the only way to effectively police this is to control the flow of money which is something which sits outside the remit of the UKGC.

I think it will come eventually but it's a slow process. Ultimately the Exchequer is the one losing revenue which tends to get their attention.

Well the banks could step in....The banks though do not give a shit. Also chargebacks do not happen anymore. Something happened in April 2018 with a change to the banking code. Chargebacks against Gambling companies is now impossible if you entered you card and CSC number.

I'm 3 years late, but this is not true, both starling and TSB have processed chargebacks to scam casinos for me in the last month, totalling over 2k. Its all about the evidence you provide and how you raise the dispute
