Need your input: Crypto Casinos – Still the Wild West or Getting Legit?

I need some input here!
We know some players on CM play at crypto sites, indeed many from the UK do to escape lack of bonus buys, autoplay, the excessive KYC and SoW checks etc.

There is also the question of RTPs being higher due to lower transactional and zero or few licensing costs which in and of itself brings a hint of jeopardy to players using them. We also know that scammers have moved into the crypto casino world in a big way and of course we had a certain site sponsoring UK football teams while taking unlicensed play.

So how do you people go about firstly deciding to take the plunge and play crypto and secondly how do you you ascertain which ones are trustworthy?

Hi! I'll be straight up, there are legitimate platforms, but you've got to be razor-sharp with due diligence. While traditional jurisdictions like Malta or Curacao offer some oversight, crypto casinos often operate in regulatory gray areas. Platforms like Stake and Roobet have built solid reputations here.

Lol, "Stake" and "solid reputation" was not something I expected to hear in the same sentence today.

May we never forget what they were happy to sponsor. Oh to be a thresher at Nottingham Trent Uni in 2025, what a treat.

It’s all about doing your research. I’ve got some great recommendations from the community here on CM. I’ve also found other places that I’ve researched first before depositing.

Limiting your exposure also helps as I’ll never be in a position to lose significant amounts (in terms of confiscated winnings) with my low stakes.

The reasons I’ve gone mainly crypto? (In order)
  1. There are plenty of max RTP crypto casinos
  2. Lower SOW risks (I’d never give any online casino my confidential financial information)
  3. Not having gambling transactions on my bank account
  4. Larger range of providers
  5. Decent rewards programs (even for low rollers)
I don’t use auto spins nor do I buy bonuses (except for one session per year at Xmas). I also don’t spam the spin button so a forced delay between spins doesn’t bother me. I’m happy provide KYC documentation. These aren’t the reasons I’ve gone crypto.

Nothing the UKGC are doing, or plan on doing, would entice me back to UK casinos.

It isn’t illegal as far as I know for a UK player to play crypto at a non-uk licensed casino, which I am guessing a lot of people are unsure of. Once you get past that and dealing with crypto which can be done in about 30 seconds once you know what you are doing, then I would say what’s not to like. Evidenced by the likes of Stake’s etc sponsership, the volume and sheer amount of revenue being generated buys you a lot of legitimacy and ethics (as it always does) and worries about getting ripped off are starting to disappear/becoming much rarer depending on who you play with. When the pie is that big you don’t need to.

That said, I do think eventually the amount of revenue being lost on FIAT currency casinos and tax lost will lead to consumer-side legislation to using them becoming introduced.

Due diligence and research is key to successfully playing at Crypto casinos. Recommendations here on CM has helped with this.

No SOW, higher RTP and instant withdrawals attracted me to going overseas.

Disadvantage is the fees associated with the purchase/transfer/sale of the crypto currency

Stake might be tacky and whatnot but at the end of the day I'd trust them to pay me quickly and drama-free. That's more than I would say for most of the US-targeting RTGs I used to play. They're not the best choice IMO but I wouldn't fear for anyone playing there per se.

The withdrawals being instant and not having opportunist SOW being requested (let’s not pretend that hasn’t been abused) have really helped.
Yes, that's what I wanted to ask, I watch The Bandit and he has mentioned some pretty eye-watering exchange fees.

It’s because he is transacting USDT via the most expensive method. He’s mentioned previously that people have suggested alternative methods but he either can’t be arsed, or he just can’t get his head around it. Probably a bit of both.

A lot of casinos operating in what would be deemed as 'decent' jurisdictions also take crypto as a payment method. However, if we are talking about purely those 'offshore' casinos which solely take crypto, then you are IMO playing Russian Roulette.

No. The pure crypto plays are rarely problematic in my experience.

In fact, the exact opposite applies - it's the sites accepting UK players and taking Visa/MC via a Chinese wig importer (or whatever) as well as Crypto that are responsible for most of the scams and issues.

Maybe used to be but not anymore. They don’t need to scam when the volume of business is so high - plus they are saving on the tax overheads - why poison the well?

I just stick to Bitstarz. Been there since 2017 and have always been treated fairly. The BEST!

This was true with the pure crypto no kyc sites that didn't use branded providers of the early days. Only one still survives which I still use today (Bitvest).

They had every reason to run (no identity, no way to trace) but they made so much because they always paid, always honored bets, they didn't need to scam.

It was when 'traditional casinos' (who didn't make their own games) that took on crypto that usually caused the problem. IMO and experience.

I made a deposit to “the one with the numbers” earlier with the intention to session DOA2 on 0.09. They don’t even carry DOA2 (doh!).

They do have DOA though so I thought I’d play that instead until…I became aware that Dead or Alive is not at max RTP there. I spot checked a number of other NetEnt titles and all were on max RTP, so I suspect this is an anomaly. But be aware if playing DOA or other NetEnts there - check the RTP first.

Am I missing something or is playngo blocked now on the crypto sites when using a v.p.n. I tried last night and b.c game they were blocked and another crypto site I tried they were blocked there also

I tried changing countries multiple times but with no luck, no matter which vpn or country i chose play n go and 3 other providers were blocked,

Anyone from the U.K know what's going on?
