Corona virus - Covid 19 discussion

No ones dying or even being hospitalised, what is wrong with this government. I swear there's something more sinister at play they cant be this stupid and trash millions of jobs and livelihoods and cause 100000s of deaths from cancers, heart, depression etc all over a virus that doesn't even have 1000 people in hospital out of 60 MILLION.

We were told back in March that the "Exceptional measure of lockdown and restrictions" would be for 3 weeks to flatten the curve and stop the NHS being overwhelmed, so what gives? because that was achieved by the end of April.

It's going to get to a point where people become so disillusioned with the Government's handling of this that they'll just ignore the 'guidelines' altogether.

It certainly won't be for lack of trying, and being the trusting, subservient denizens for the best part of 6 months. Shame then that despite this, even now, the conflicting 'rules' and application of them (wear a mask, but shopkeepers don't wear masks, Social-Distance in small clustered groups such as pubs, but there's lots of clusters etc) mean that it's all a bit of bungling cockup of epic proportions.

We're clearly at the stage where our 'leaders' have stopped planning pretty much anything, and are simply knee-jerk reacting to every supposed minor spike, based on whatever stats they've pulled out of the air this week

Simply put, people will eventually have had enough, stop abiding by the rules, stop wearing masks, socialize as normal and so forth. And this will include normally-responsible, rational citizens. And you know why? Because there's only so much dilly-dallying they'll tolerate, and only so many livelihoods that can be lost. And when that happens it's time to realize we can't hide from this virus' shadow forever, or it'll be like this for the next 50 years

Ready for marshals everyone? You know, the ones that didn't make the grade as Community Police officers?

Because that's the next phase being rolled out, soon. You'll recognize them by their gold stars on their lapels

Getting more like communist China by the day, look forward to my first experience meeting a ‘marshal’

@goatwack thats actually 100% the truth. Something very sinister is going on here.

Never in my 51 years have I known anything remotely as mad as whats going on right now.

And we will have a cashless society too soon. I would not be surprised if soon instead of us gaining interest while saving instead we will have to pay banks for them allowing us to bank with them when our wages go in each month or at the end of each business month.

The negative Interest rates idea was already peddled around midway through Lockdown, or round about when the Government realized they indirectly purged 10-20% of the country's GDP.

Can't remember if we had the Bank of England setting 0% Interest rates or if I imagined it, but either way, I suspect they'll soon be tapping into people's savings to 'stimulate the economy'.

After which I should also imagine most will end up investing via alternative means, such as Cryptos or perhaps shipping coke

Hopefully some of the members from ROI can confirm this, and whether it still is the case, but in the past banks in Ireland definitely had a monthly fee on their current accounts, and there were fees for withdrawing your funds as well. Not sure if it still happens, but there was no such thing as free banking in the Republic.

Imagine a world without cash. The changes would be endless and mostly not for the better. Imagine if those in control of your finances decided that your spending money on something that is deemed not good for you and freezes your assets "for your own good" like gambling?
Edit.
One thing it would mean is much more taxes being paid because those who are self employed, work cash in hand or makes a little extra buying and selling would have to pay full tax. Within no time all of what it has cost the government (us) these past 7 months will be covered by full taxes being paid.

Imagine a world where you get SoWd just for buying a packet of cereal and the issue of Mayfair clumsily hidden behind it :(

Or even getting a SoW request from your actual employer!

Funnily enough recently while waiting in line at the newsagents I looked up at the top shelf of the magazine rack and there was not a single dorty mag. Do they still sell them?

I'm not from the ROI but I have a monthly fee on my bankaccount and a yearly fee on my savings. It's kinda sad when the interest is this low that you still have to pay a fee... Perhaps putting money in coke like Goaty said is the better solution.

Don't you have the internet? You could print out some pictures and have a makeshift dirty mag :p

My offy still does, I believe. That's why his shop reigns supreme

I loved ‘razzle’ back in the day.

I remember being about 13 and during the summer hols would spend 4 weeks with my nan in Kent, and she got the Daily Star every day. That was my pornhub a measly pair of black and white tits, but my god did I build up my left wrist during those summer holidays :D:p:eek:

The daily star back in the day was a superb publication.

Piers Morgan, the low life whom hacked a dead child’s phone tried to bully this women many times, he’s a pathetic example of a man and utter scum.

There’s a huge backlash about this, also Denise has had many personal issues herself and has been decent, upfront and honest about them, so massive respect to her.

Also her Covid opinions resonate to the british public as she’s speaking sense.

I agree with everything you have said. Over the years he has slowly became more and more part of the "establishment"
He sort of reminds me of politicians who argued for years for the abolition of peerages and the house of lords only to except a peerage and admission into the house of lords once they are finished as an MP

Well at least Eamon & Ruth weren't too condescending, a marked improvement. Also just minor 'putting words' in her mouth, another improvement

And when did Denise Welch become right-wing? And when did Ruth become the Honey Monster?

I never watch tripe day time tv,or even tv in general. Not for at least 7 months. I have my tv rigged up to watch what I want via my laptop so I don't need too.

His conduct when at the helm of said papers during the tapping scandal says all it needs to me about the mans character.

It’s a disgrace he’s allowed a massively paid job like GMB after what he’s done, it’s abhorrent.

How dare he take a inch of moral high ground after bugging a dead child’s phone and using it for personal gain, karma i pray to god comes to this parasite.

The House of Lords also wants abolishing, it’s a old school with the culture of ‘jobs for the boys’ as Boris (whom i voted for) proved when his moronic brother got the nod.

If it wasn’t the fact the opposition where frankly so utterly barmy last election my vote wouldn’t of gone blue, I’d just not of voted.

Ruth has a fantastic set.. of opinions, when directed.

Eamon however can have a voice, he destroyed that brexit puppet ‘Femi’ when he attempted to change a question to promote the BLM nonsense.

And i was well pleased for the lass Denise standing her ground, she’s been battered by the media in the past for her mistakes and she’s been open and said it how it is.

Yeah she’s been a addict, done bad things.. but she’s addressed all that and came out the other side and is prepared to stand her ground, that’s a real feminist, not the toxic hateful lot of Harpees we have now.

Right wing now is just a way to say ‘ yep they are totally correct, but it’s not fitting to my narrative so I’ll label them’
