Corona virus - Covid 19 discussion

I wish had something uplifting to say to raise your spirits. But it's only going to get much, much worse

Dont worry, im as happy as a pig in sugar. Rather nice to have 4 months of doing F all. I bet on Rugby and its starting up again next month so all good things coming to an end. During the unnecessary lockdown I have enjoyed the sunniest spring for a gazillion years, the thrill of being arrested for sunbathing alone, the fact I had to do pretend pressups twice to fool plod, and the look on peoples faces when I walk into a supermarket barefaced.

There's one very promising, tested by @ternur as we speak, 1000 pack of beer, if after consuming that have any symptons, double your dose

I can attest that this is in fact true.

I made the hard choice and volunteered to take part in a trial studying alcohol as a covid-19 prevention mechanism.

I had to give up a lot and put myself in harms way, but I wanted to do this for the greater good.

I always said you were a pioneer

Shit, sorry. I meant you smell of piss & beer (pardon me)

Might just be me as I’m from the metropolis that is Middlesbrough....

but anyone get the feeling it’s back to. Normal?.. our shops no longer make us wait in line, the pubs where we are supposed to only sit and order via app are not a thing....
The restaurants are sit where you like...

yeah we have the silly masks on show here and there but on a whole here it’s like it was before and personally it’s bliss...

I get many are worried (still) and think we should be kept locked away forever, but we had Bournemouth beach, the blm nonsense protests... and no spikes...

yes we do in bame areas like Leicester with there slave trading, but in other places where is this second wave...

Whitby near me now is a tourist hotspot, has been years... yet in North Yorkshire we have no second lockdown or spike... maybe certain areas with certain cultures may be a issue we can’t talk about...

anyhow, a corona cooking post won’t be long as after the child left I done spag bol, used my finest garden produce to make it.. (apart from the pasta) so that will cheer you all up.

i do like to think I’m the casinomeister Keith floyd.

Don't know about Keith Floyd. I'd have said Heston Blumenthal mixed with 'squashed Beegee' Anthony Worrel-Thompson, finished off with a dash of Charles Bronson

Haha no idea who that is, but I’ll accept it.
Betty is such a kick ass British name, sadly not many girls called it nowadays.
She did all the Charlie Chaplin films and that, you'd like her

A fine piece of crumpet

(keeping it food-related)

Tesco sack their cleaning roster and place burden on existing staff to do, well, the cleaners' job!

"Hey Billy, when you finished serving that customer could you clean the bogs, the thing's overflowing with shit"

So magnificent move by the groceries giant. Magnificent in the sense of axing 2000 jobs to add to the pile, effectively doubling existing workers' workloads (2 for 1! Buy one get one free!) and compromising health and safety, as those not versed in cleaning properly will likely create a greater health risk than we have now!

Not one to miss a trick, Bill urges we take several doses of the wunder-cure

So await the inevitable Vaccine 95, Vaccine XP, Vaccine Vista and worst of all, Vaccine 10

(just don't take Vista, that's crap)

and worst of all, Vaccine 10

The one that made me change from vaccines to real prevention mechanisms instead of diluted causes of problems.

But I'm typing this while on W10 machine. Which makes me a hypocrite I guess. Or dumb. Or both. Or not sober (actually I am).

What was the topic? Was there a question?

I warned against this earlier in the thread, regarding countries opening up their borders and allowing international travel.

I know many countries rely on tourism to aid their economy but allowing international travel will be the undoing of us all, trust me. You do not have to be a bloody brain surgeon to realise that. It’s obvious to any living thing that has a higher IQ than plankton.

It will not matter one bit what rules and restrictions are put in place, the bottom line is it will not even come close to being adhered to and is impossible to police. People are going on holiday, they get drunk, they want to enjoy themselves, they are not going to give a second thought to obeying restrictions. If they were genuinely concerned about contracting the virus, they wouldn’t be going in the first place.

I am not saying that it is definitely the case but Spain has just spent 3 months under lockdown and like most of Europe had eventually managed to reduce the number of daily cases to less than 1,000 and most days, considerably less. A month ago they eased restrictions and allowed tourists from certain countries to start visiting again.

Fast forward to today and they have declared 2,615 new cases and all this after the prime minister had said “a second wave must be avoided at all costs”. Have you ever wondered if the people running your respective country have actually got the brains they were born with?

What is the point of making all these decisions and asking people to go the “extra mile” to help contain the virus for 3 months if you are then going to make “brain dead” decisions that instantly put you back to square one?

The 'R' rate is at zero in something like 18-20 regions across England, and our own ministers have stated we're over the worst of it, so to speak.

Flu deaths have also officially overtaken Covid-related deaths as of a couple of days ago, it has been noted.

Also said was that at the onset of Covid, many deaths that were unrelated were chalked up as 'Covid', but now, according to a minister, we've 'moved past' doing that. Ok, that's good to know!

Offset by other regions where Covid numbers have spiked, albeit in brief flurries, in no part aided by usual reckless behaviours, such as mass-gatherings of 250 at funerals and the like, routinely shunning any notion of the greater good

But anyway, enough of that. Happy Compulsory Masks In Shops Or Get Fined Day tomorrow everyone! Woo!

Dont worry its less likely to kill you than driving 100 miles. Most overhyped thing in human history!!!
Yes the difference being that when I am driving I am the one in control and I can make the necessary allowances for the “pricks” on the road. With the virus my fate is put in the hands of others. A situation I am not so comfortable with.

Just as Aldi and Lidl staff have been doing for donkey years then...... but there was never an article online about that! Must have been a slow news day I guess.

That's Germans for ya!

I take it they didn't purge 2000 previously-hired cleaning staff, however

Unless you have asthma... I now have that

I just don’t grasp how in pubs and restaurants it’s all normal.
Yet pop in for a loaf of bread and it’s scenes like 28 days later...
What a farce.
Eateries and restaurants are next on the menu, if not already

In fact drive-thrus and pickup spots have magically been included recently, presenting a bit of a Boris U-turn, when he said they wouldn't be affected

So whilst mandated to comply, a lot of these food joints have said they won't enforce masked customers

Interesting times indeed!
